It happened, I even have some games doubled or tripled up on the same system! E.g. old CD version of a game, then later a DVD version and then on Steam and/or GoG.

Not very often, and if I do its usually years apart where the advantage is more powerful hardware and/or new features. There's a fair few PS3 titles I bought whilst I didn't have a decent gaming PC, which I then 'upgraded' to the Steam editions (after building said decent gaming PC) to enjoy in nice shiny 1440p 60fps. But even then, I'll usually only pick them up a second time in a sale. Mostly turn-of-the-decade and early-2010s stuff like Bioshock Infinite, Alien Isolation, Tomb Raider etc

I don't think I've ever bought the same game twice on different platforms at the same time though - I'm not a games collector, so that seems kinda pointless.

Depends on the circumstances. The general rule is that I will normally buy only 1 copy of the game on my platform of choice. However, sometimes I make exceptions.

The most common reason why I might own it on two different platforms is that a year or two down the line, the games happens to be on sale for extremely cheap so I snag the copy. This is more often than not purely digital games and indies such as the Steamworld games because physical games don't normally get so cheap, though I do sometimes buy physical games on more than one platform for the same reason.

The second main reason I might do it is normally because the game is just that good. I brought P5 Strikers on PS4 (I mean, I also own P5, P5 Royal, P5 Dancing in Starlight, so realistically, why would I not choose PS4 over Switch, might as well complete the collection on one console). But anyway, I loved it so much that I thought "you know what, this game would be great to play through on my Switch at a more leisurely pace". Sure, performance wise, it won't be as smooth at 30fps, but it seems stable enough. Another game I love a lot is Ocarina of Time; I own it in at least 4 different ways; N64, Zelda Collection and Wind Waker Limited Edition (baring in mind that I did not own a gamecube until after I owned a Wii, yes I know it's stupid, don't judge me) and the 3DS remaster. Shovel Knight I own on both Wii U and Switch.

Signature, huh? Where do I sign?

Yes, i did.
I have triple dipped LEGO CITY UNDERCOVER (Wii U = 1st, Switch = 2nd, PS4 = 3rd).
And i have finished the storyline for All those version.

Yep, done it a few times on Switch. Have Doom 2016 on Xbox and Switch (the former mainly for multiplayer), and Rocket League on PS4/Xbox/Switch. Always at sale prices but sometimes I find it really convenient.

The Resident Evil games some of them last month ive bought from the eshop for my Switch Lite.

Never had Resident Evil 5 before years ago but bought it along with Revelations 2.

also Resident Evil 0 and Resident Evil Remake I have for my Gamecube but getting them for my Switch Lite i can play them on the go or whenever.

Besides its a pain to switch back and forth from an old 19 inch Sansui tv with my Gamecube hooked up to it and back to my Vizio tv since I cant even hook my old Gamecube up to my Vizio tv anyway

No I don't usually. If I have played it on one system, I won't buy it again on another simply because I have other great, new experiences to have. Unless it is an all time classic though.
