This gem of a game deserves a thread.

Welcome, my fellow arcade racing addicts… welcome.

I've played through each tour on easy and gotten the gold trophy in each, going to work my way up through the difficulties. Overall, I'm really enjoying it, although I do wish the races had multiple laps. A lot of races just seem to end too quickly, and it'd make grabbing the gold keys a little easier if I had multiple laps to do so (I know I don't need to get them all in one go, but locations would be fresher in my mind if I saw one but missed it on the previous lap). Still a great game so far; can't think of any others that have let me play as a neon, armored triceratops doing barrel rolls through the air and bouncing off walls and cars like a pinball.

I do think I got an odd visual glitch on one of the last tracks where I landed on a bridge over water and the back half of my triceratops just fell through the bridge. It didn't affect my movement at all, it just looked funny seeing its head poking up through the bridge. Kinda wish I got a picture of it.

Brilliant arcade fun. Exactly what I hoped for at a great price to boot.

I know it is technically a budget title anyway, but I am not sure I am going to get enough out of it at it's current price, but I'll definitely pick this up if it comes down in price, as this is very much my kind of game. My understanding is they intend to add online play at a later date? So I'd probably pick it up at it's current price, once this is added, if this is added before the price lowers.

This game is not on the Russian eshop. Why do the developers think that Russian gamers don't want to play Cruis'n Blast? I'm so disappointed...

I'm very interested in grabbing a physical copy once it hits the bargain bin.

I loathe the prospect of giving the publisher, Game Mill, full asking price.

I watched Matt McMuscle's first impression video over on YT and he was having...a blast.

I stayed up playing until midnight last night. It’s been a long time since a racing game did that to me. Probably 25 years, back in the N64 era.

@Pizzamorg
That’s what I heard. Raw Thrills were a bit coy, but seemed to imply they’d add online in a patch at some point.

I got it at BestBuy for $27.60 total. The game was $39.99 with a $10 Gift Card for preordering. An additional 5% back using their CC ($2 back) and another 40 cents back in gold coins with the cart. Absolute steal.

@VIIIAxel
The tracks aren’t designed in a loop so, having laps wouldn’t really work. I think that’s part of what makes it interesting though. At least the races are short and fast so you can hop right back in if need be. And the load times are pretty quick too, which is great.

@JaxonH I understand that, it's just strange to me to have races end in 50 seconds sometimes. I don't play a ton of racing games (mostly Mario Kart or Crash Team Racing), so it's not something I'm used to. If it was possible to have some way to get it to loop, I would've liked that. Doesn't ruin the game for me or anything, it's just a case where I want to be racing for longer. I'm still really enjoying the game overall.

@VIIIAxel Ah man... 50 seconds... really?

Short races is why I couldn't get into Asphalt or Gear Club.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

Only some tracks. Most are twice that long. But there seems to be one in each cup that is more or less around a minute.

Even so, there’s a lot of content to go through if you’re beating all 6 cups of 4 tracks with Gold on Easy, then on Normal. Then it unlocks Hard. All gold again unlocks the highest difficulty. Plus you have three keys you need to find in each course, and there’s 29 courses. And I have yet to get all three on my first try. Sometimes I don’t get any on my first try. But I haven’t gone out of my way in time trials to seek out the keys yet because I figure I’ll get them naturally as I go through the world tour on the various difficulties.

Then you’ve got to unlock all the vehicles, Both the ones that unlock with cash earned in game and the ones that unlock with the keys you find. And then you have to use each vehicle to level it up, and as you level it up you unlock the ability to buy upgrades for each vehicle which costs cash as well.

It’s like, ya. Tons to do. There’s 24 courses in the world tour (6 cups of 4 each) and then, separately, there’s the 5 original courses from the arcade which can be played in a special mode. And the game is SUPER fun. The fact it doesn’t wear out its welcome with each track and kind of leaves you wanting a little bit more is what makes it so addicting. Because you always feel like you want to do the next track. Before you know it you’ve been playing for two hours.

@VIIIAxel
I hear ya. But I’d rather be left wanting a little more than have a course overstay its welcome. There are a few shorter tracks but overall I feel like they’re just the right length on average. It’s also a nice change of pace to be able to get through a cup without having to commit so much time, like in Mario Kart. If I have 15 minutes to spare, boom, bust out the Lite and play through a cup or two in Cruis’n.

@JaxonH That's true that only a few are that short, and it does work as a game for short bursts. I do think having an option in free play would be really fun, but it doesn't really hurt the game for me overall.

@gcunit Like JaxonH said, there are only a few races that are that short. Most are closer to a minute and a half, which still isn't long, but only a few really feel like they finish just as things are really heating up at least. I haven't tried the arcade courses yet either, so those might be longer.

My copy just came today, 2 days late. Lucky it’s also my last day working for the week, so that means uninterrupted gaming until Monday!!

I'm loving the Blast so far. It's feels like a game from a bygone era when arcade racers were part game, part amusement park ride. It makes me want to pick up the Hori Mario Kart deluxe racing wheel.

@HexagonSun
Lol that's exactly what I said!

I hadn't even considered getting a wheel for Switch until this game. I've honestly been pondering that Hori wheel to get the full arcade experience at home... minus the $9,000 cabinet cost.

I'm just curious how it would work sitting in a recliner. It's kind of made for a desk.

Really enjoying this so far. Totally the racing game that I needed. I’m just replaying cups until I get all the keys.

I got all the keys in the original 5 arcade tracks, but I’ve only got about half the keys in the World Tour tracks. I beat all 6 cups with Gold on Easy, then again on Normal. And now I’ve unlocked Hard and just beat my first cup on that difficulty. I haven’t gone out of my way for the keys because it leaves something for me to find as I go through the World Tour on various difficulties.

Im hooked on upgrading all the cool vehicles. Leveling them up and purchasing the customizations. Got my Triceratops pimped out with a titanium helmet with neon trim. Working on my hammerhead shark laser sight, and my Camero with neon rims, decals, body kit and engine block.

There’s soooo many awesome vehicles in this game, and they look ridiculously cool with upgrades. In most racing games I honestly don’t care about the customization because it just doesn’t interest me that much, but in Cruis’n Blast, I’m LOVING the designs and upgrades. It’s super addicting getting your cars leveled up and decked out.

I concur with all of this. I’m on cup 3 on hard having a total blast.

Yea, gotta say I will be the bigger person here and admit that I am pleasantly surprised.

I expected certain forum goers to be over the moon about it because of course (lol), but it seems that most others enjoy it, as well. Reviews seem to be good, too. If the price comes down I'll give it a shot!
