Good to see someone with knowledge. Thanks for the correction on Civ II, it's been so long, but I felt the DS game was similar enough to the earlier games in the series to be called remake. For purists and hardcore fans of the original there are probably too many differences. It's like Metroid II and its "remake".

So, I've been sucked back into Civ 5 big time, and my hype for 6 on Switch is getting higher and higher. This is truly one of the greatest series of all time. I hadn't played it in a while (since the Switch launch, in fact) and I really forgot how Civ sinks its claws into you. You sit down to play for 10 minutes and the next thing you know it's 2:00 AM and your wife is wondering what happened to you but you just need to get one or two more trebuchets in place to deal with that weasel Suleiman and you are NOT backing down because he's declared war three times already and can't be trusted...

Ahem.

So, yes, I'm really looking forward to having the portability so I can bring the wars to bed and to work, but also very interested in the new districts system in Civ 6. If the new systems work well, amd the port is good, this is the kind of game you can put hundreds of hours into, and I'm sure I will.

@JasmineDragon Ha! Ha! You’re wetting my appetite. Getting hyped too. Any reviews up yet for the Switch game? Noticed SNK ARCADE COLLECTION reviews are now coming in and they both release on the same day - 16th.

@Lroy I haven't seen any reviews yet. I suspect there won't be any until towards the end of the week.

I tend to skip some games at launch nowadays (mostly due to time constraints), but still have Ys VIII, Diablo III, and Dark Souls Remastered on my must-have-list.

Civilization VI however, is a game I can't wait playing and digging into. This and Smash will conclude this year for me, I hopefully get the rest later, along with physical versions of Undertale, Prison Architect, and Stardew Valley.

I'm probably gonna need to consult you guys for tips once this drops. I have the game on PC and I have played it before, but there's still a ton of stuff I don't understand about it. It's a game with rich, deep gameplay mechanics and advice from the experts will definitely come in handy

I have never played Civilisation before. Played a lot of The Settlers in my life though.
I am really looking forward to this game, since it looks really great!
I hope it works well on Switch. Will grab it on Friday.

Review codes I don't think have been sent out yet, copies of the game haven't arrived with 2K. So they tell me. Will no doubt be a tomorrow or Friday job before the game is sent out for review.

Which is a bit off considering there maybe people waiting on these reviews before purchasing.

However, I am thoroughly looking forward to playing this

My Civ 6 plans have gone awry! The Game Collection have cancelled my pre order due to supply issues. To be fair to them they have credited my account with £5 compensation for the late cancellation.

I have also checked Base.com and they have stated that all day one stock has sold out! I have now pre ordered through Shopto, don't think I'll now get it time for release day but you never know!

@Farmboy74 Shopto are excellent to be fair. Preorders are usually sent for release day if not the day before. Your order will probably be sent out tomorrow first class post for Friday release

@SuperJoon, hopefully your right, first time in all my years I've had a pre order cancelled. Been pretty lucky when you think about it

I'm quite eager for this game. Never played anything like this but I've watched a couple of hours of tutorial videos to get enthusiastic. Only thing preventing me from preordering is that I want to read some reviews on how the control scheme holds up vs mouse and keyboard. Fingers crossed that it's good!

Fair warning to first-time players: this is a very dangerous game. Sid Meier has long been known to be a digital crack dealer, and the Civilization series is arguably his worst offender.

Here's a typical play session:

"I'll play a few turns before dinner ... just one more turn ... wait, why does the clock say 12:43AM?"

I kind of expect that and am scared and excited.
Did this with The Settlers 3 as a kid. That game also lasts hours and you always have that "I'm just gonna do this one more thing....-oh wait-.....one more thing..."-scheme you find yourself into.
I don't know how I am going to play Pokemon and finish TWEWY and Flippin Death at the same time.

@Mountain_Man there will be an option to save in between turns right?
