Topic: Cave Story for Switch Delivered Early?

I pre-ordered Cave Story+ for the Switch a while ago and I noticed it shipped a couple days ago, which I thought was weird because normally with my release day delivery games they're shipped the day before release. I got home from work today and to my surprise I had the game in my mailbox even though I thought the official release date isn't until next Tuesday. Has anyone else had this happen? Was the release date moved to an earlier date without me knowing?

We don't even have the game released in Europe yet, so keep your smug early delivery story to yourself, dagnamit!

@Krillin_ It wasn't really my intention to be smug about it. I've pre-ordered many games on Amazon before and never had anything arrive even a day early before. I was just confused and wondering if this happened to anyone else. To be honest I don't think getting Cave Story early really matters anyway since the game has been out for over a decade on PC.

It happens on occasion when ordering from Amazon or any online retailer. The warehouse gets the order and has no idea about street dates and such, and they just ship the order out once they receive it, since the games are already in-stock ahead of time.

Congrats on the early get!

@Xaldin I was only kidding! I'm happy for you. I've actually never played Cave Story, so I'm looking forward to trying it on Switch. It is weird that you got it early, but it has happened to me a couple of times before too, though not necessarily with games (usually books).

I might wait to play it, particularly if it has online features. Unauthorized early access is a flag for bootlegged content, which can lead to automated bans on online accounts.

It's not a sure thing to happen, and I'm sure you could call NOA support if it happens and get unbanned, but it's a hassle.

I often order games and hardware from The Game Collection and 99/100 I'll get new games before the release date.

When the 3DS was originally launched I got two 3DS games a week before their release date and the 3DS two days before (through HMV though).

It happens.

I used to often get my preorders from GAME a day early. I would expect a dedicated game store to know what they're doing, so I figure they were deliberately shipping stuff a little early to make sure it didn't arrive late.
