Bug Fables has officially released on Switch today. It's a clone of the first two Paper Mario games and I've heard great things about it. Some people have even said it surpasses the original Paper Mario games in some areas. I'm really looking forward to picking this one up in the near future. Has anyone played it yet and want to give their thoughts on the game?
I have been playing it and like it so far. I am up to chapter 4. I haven't played paper mario for so long I can't say how similar it is. It has they timing based things in battles like paper mario but there doesn't seem to be that many to do I remember there being more in paper mario or mario and Luigi. I have needed to look online a couple of times to figure out what to do next but I wasn't that patient either.
So far I have had to try some of the bosses more than once but the normal battles I haven't had any trouble. Also I am not one that wants it to be really challenging like with indivisible I was liking it but stopped playing because the fighting was too frustrating. I think there is more depth to the combat than I am using. I mostly just use regular attacks and save the points needed for the skills for healing.
So I'm here to say that I'm totally buying this game the day of Paper Mario's release out of spite.
lololololol
No, but seriously, the game interests me, its a change of pace from most of the other games I've been playing on Switch, I just finished playing the 4th Mario and Luigi game, its perfect timing in a way. I'm not sure this would've been the very next game I got on Switch otherwise though.
Supporting a smaller dev whose game I was gonna buy anyway is probably the best way to deal with my frustration over this. Admittedly, I do feel kinda bad at how much this game seems to be defined by people's frustrating with someone else's series but...if they get more money for that reason, I doubt they'll care. :V
Switch Physical Collection - 1,247 games (as of April 15th, 2024)

@Magician Unfortunately there's never been a time for me where games I'm interested in on LRG have overlapping pre-order windows. Would have been nice to lump together No More Heroes 1 & 2 with Bug Fables, shipping to Canada is pretty expensive.
I can't decide if I want this one or not. Bug Fables looks a little too Paper Mario for me. Anybody have any input on the game? Is it a Paper Mario clone?

Give me a heads-up if you're going to send a request please.
@Snaplocket Thanks for the info. If it's still up for preorder when Sam and Max go live I may get it then. Admittedly I'm ambivalent about Paper Mario, but if Bug Fables has more combat complexity and compelling characters/story then I'd prolly enjoy it.

Yes, the joy of Paper Mario comes from the Mario characters and universe surely? This game looks disgusting to me with all those bugs! 🤢
@damien33ad Limited Run did a preorder a few months ago. It's in production now. I'm not sure if Best Buy will be selling it or if it's strictly the LRG print run.

I just got confirmation that the LRG edition is shipping out. Been waiting for a while and I'm excited for it. Unfortunately I'm in the middle of too many games right now, but hopefully I'll play it soon.
