@Balta666 hm. I hope that I can get past the road block in Chapter 4, since I think I'm so close to things wrapping up.

@VoidofLight if I read correctly you're at halcyonia to battle the army, and still have to go to the other two towns. The difficulty of those 3 battles depend on your preferred jobs as for me Savalon's was the only hard one as that boss has high evasion and that is my Achilles' heel. Although I would recommend you to grind a bit as it looked like you are underleveled atm

@Balta666 Ah alright. I also heard that his attacks depend on how high his defense is, so I might need to switch one of my characters to a freelancer. I have three attackers currently, and one healer, so I might also want to make one of my characters a shield master to help buff the party's defense.

I believe I'm nearing the end of Chapter 4. So far, all the bosses have been really easy, except for Lonsdale, which I finally took care of. I feel like the next fight is Adam, since I'm now in Holograd, ready to take back the wind crystal.

Well I finished the game last night. About 75 hours or so. I quite enjoyed it overall. Might do a second playthrough with new game +. I'm curious if when I get to Adam this time, if I can just wipe him out and save Sir Sloan. My guess is no, but worth a shot. I finished using 4 bravebearers with sub spiritmasters. Basically unlimited hp,mp and braves. It was fun, but way overpowered for the isle of nothingness. Defintively glad I made this purchase and would love another bravely game in the future.

Honestly, the moment you hear (Chapter 4 spoilers) the third asterisk boss theme in the game, you know the game's no longer playing around. The song signifies that the bosses you're facing are strong as heck, and are unlike any of the others in which you've faced so far. Not to mention, the Asterisks themselves are effectively just the character's ultimate classes. Like the arcanist asterisk holder effectively being the ultimate black mage, the Phantom Asterisk holder being the ultimate version of the thief in a way, and the one you get from Lonsdale is the ultimate Shieldmaster/tank.

I think there's some sort of difficulty spike at (chapter 4 spoilers) Adam's airship. However, the dungeon's pretty long as well. I'm going to probably grind a bit more when I get near the boss room, leveling up until I scare all the enemies away from me.

@Balta666 (CHAPTER 5 SPOILERS)

You beat Edna without dying? I already had two star overs and in the second I loss because my characters didn't have silence immunity, which ultimately became my demise. She can gain BP with each physical attacks so I planned to have Seth deal the last blows when she was at 40,000 health. My characters were in level 65 and their jobs at level 12 (Seth with physical attack 999 Vanguard/Berserker, Gloria Oracle/Spiritmaster, Elvis Black Mage/Arcanist, Adele Freelancer/Red Mage). I thought I could win with wind immunity/absorption, but I didn't expect her to have not only the element weaknesses move, but also a move to cancel reraise and other magical spells, AND increase her speed. Now I know I need anti silence accessories but it may not be enough.

I only have two more doors to go, then I can (Chapter 5 Spoilers) open the door and stop Edna from awakening the Night's Nexus.

@VoidofLight Be very prepared to fight Edna. She is even more difficult than the fairies from previous Bravely games, even in Casual difficulty. I got stuck there, despite having good weapons and accessories. If you wish, you can see my previous post (the one replying to Balta) which only mention her abilities.

@Diddy64 I expect her to be more of a challenge since.. well, she's not a cryst fairy like the ones in the last two. She's an actual fairy. I'm pretty sure the actual fairies are more powerful, since cryst fairies only really serve their masters, and rely on manipulating others to get their masters to be revived.

@VoidofLight I used on my two tries purge to cancel her attack that causes haste on herself, but perhaps there is a better job to counter that. She sometimes counter with an all elements weakness when one heal no matter which way (including items), and can also freely do it in battle. Her physical attack is also strong and can do critical hits. Maybe having the thief job with a phantom sub can help against her. Though, it will then need to have a character with a sub white mage to use arise on him/her, since thiefs and phantoms have less defense.

@Diddy64 @Diddy64 well I don't remember much of it as it did not take me long (in oposition with the next boss after credits that kicked my butt 3 times). At Edna I used my normal strategy of Seth, Elvis and Adelle with freestyle as sub job and the ability to have 0 BP cost on sub jobs attacks therefore I could spam body slam, ocasionaly purge or square one the boss from buffs (don't remember her buffs though) and having Gloria as the white mage healer. P.S: also having all team with counter-savvy helps a lot. P.P.S: I was at level 55 so you should have plenty of HP and gear by this point

This thread is making me laugh so much. There's so much black text that it looks like someone made a Freedom Of Information request from a dodgy government with something to hide 😂😂

Balta666

@alpacatears well yeah lol but we have been discussing final boss and post credits content so we thought it would be wiser to just have all black marked in the case someone early on decides to come here ask something else

Balta666

@Balta666 Yeah it's definitely the safest option for games that have various twists and turns in it's plot

@Balta666 Oh! So that's what I should have done 😅 I got so engage with the other jobs that I only used that job to obtain the jp points. I guess I'll have to level up the Pictomancer job with two of characters.

Hopefully by this night I have defeated that boss.

So I got to the (Chapter 5 Spoilers) Edna fight, and I almost took her down. I had a pretty good strategy, with the only reason she actually managed to best me being that I gave her a Brave Point due to using God Speed Strike at the wrong time. However, I usually know to steal her BP away, then try and use the ability Seth has to lock stats for an entire turn in order to prevent her from killing me with one hit by Braving.

"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."

VoidofLight

@Diddy64 I'd make Seth a tank in this situation, giving him the Vanguard ability and the ability from Lonsdale. Make sure you max Lonsdale's asterisk out as well, since you get a special skill that effectively lets you lock HP, MP, and BP, so that when she does brave multiple times, none of her attacks will connect. However, the only draw back is that you can't really attack until the next turn for everyone due to the lock, as it also protects her as well.

"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."

VoidofLight

Also, it's hard to do, but don't let the bosses' low health tempt you into finishing them off early, especially if they have a counter where they get a benefit when you use physical attacks or magic attacks. It's better to play it safe rather than throw everything away.
