@Snaplocket you don't need to grind anyone to level 100 for the true ending or secret ending. Unlocking the jobs to level 15 and taking down some of the multiple bosses in the same fight was some of the best parts of the game

I haven't gotten to it yet, but isn't the true ending just effectively the actual ending of the game? I heard that the story encompasses 7 chapters, with a false ending to the story happening in Chapter 5.

"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."

@VoidofLight The secret ending is the best ending. So there are three endings to the game and 7 chapters.

@komodo182 Ah alright.

"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."

Replaying info! So I wanted to see what happens if you just destroy Adam at the Vale of Sighs. I did crush him, but yeah. The game plans for this. You get a different scene with Edna and the game over music plays. A pop up appears and says you have to be defeated by Adam to continue the story. I wish they actually allowed you to continue down this path and changed the story about bit. It would make a replay more interesting. Maybe a DLC idea.

Just beat Chapter 5. wasn't expecting an abrupt ending like that.

"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."

VoidofLight

So.. (Chapter 5 spoilers) They're making me fight Edna again? Really? That fight was really hard to get past just once, and now I've gotta do it again..

"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."

VoidofLight

So I beat Edna again, and it seems like the ending's the same.

"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."

VoidofLight

Seems like there's nothing left to do except refight her over and over, since the story didn't change this time when loading it back up.

"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."

komodo182

@VoidofLight try leaving the area instead of fighting. Do you really want Gloria to sacrifice herself?

@komodo182 wow that is kind of strange as that fight is in the prologue and they let you go all the way to the end of chapter 5 just to tell you know "ups, you should not have done that..."

Balta666

komodo182

@Balta666 Yeah. They let you finish 7 chapters, replay the game and then say you can't do that haha

@Diddy64 I'd make Seth a tank in this situation, giving him the Vanguard ability and the ability from Lonsdale. Make sure you max Lonsdale's asterisk out as well, since you get a special skill that effectively lets you lock HP, MP, and BP, so that when she does brave multiple times, none of her attacks will connect. However, the only draw back is that you can't really attack until the next turn for everyone due to the lock, as it also protects her as well.

@VoidofLight I had forgotten about that ability despite having Seth with both of those jobs at level 12. Stealing BP also sounds good as that battle can really last a lot compared to other bosses. I should also remember to give all my characters wind resistance +3, so that they absorb her wind attacks and use Puregringer to nullify her elements resistance -1. That with the silence immunity items should give me the edge I need. Just in case, I'll have two characters sub Freelancer so that they can delay her turns with Body Slam. She is extremely quick, even without using the attack that gives her haste.

I may do it later or next day, as my mind feels a bit tired from taking 20 minutes equipping weapons/accessories and abilities in each battle. And the first battle lasted 30 minutes, while the second lasted 2 hours before losing. Perhaps I burned out a bit 😅

@Diddy64 I had to steal BP and lock stats.

@VoidofLight I found that Edna can be inflicted with contagion to make her not use some of her special attacks. It may sound a bit unfair, but she wasn't a fair boss, was she? Perhaps I should return the favor to her 😈

@Diddy64 I didn't know you could do that. frankly, I didn't even know you could inflict contagion, since I never actually used it for much of anything.

Also, (Chapter 5 onward spoilers) Bravely Default sure loves their evil fairies. I find it unique that unlike Airy and her sister, Edna actually tries to awaken the Night's Nexus because she believes that she can control it and use it's power for her own gains. I believe Airy and her sister were just servants to the dark gods, where as Edna tried to become the dark god and failed miserably.

Me neither. This day or tomorrow will be the first time I use contagion against an enemy. I searched that in a guide in case I fail a third time, but I may end up using it to evade dragging the battle. Maybe some bosses of Chapter 3 and 4 would have been more easy if I had used it against them. @VoidofLight (forgot to @ until I made the message 😅)

@Diddy64 Ah. Still, the strategy using the asterisk you get from Lonsdale is pretty helpful, along with stealing BP. I used it twice in the game, and it worked both times for me, since her strongest attacks are mostly when she braves three times, and if you deal physical damage, she'll just counter with defaulting no matter what, meaning just stealing it from her is a pain to deal with.

Ha, I had a Red Mage ..... Lols! They really get 2 absolutely awesome skills in this game If you've mastered most of the jobs, between your characters, then you'll probably have noticed what other very beneficial 2nd specialities there are, so for difficult fights like this, you can swap your characters to the best job for it & then put them back in whatever they were learning before
