Have you tried removing the SD card and restarting the Switch without it?

Have you tried formating the SD card on a pc to FAT32?

Make sure you turn off any equipment before inserting/removing SD cards - they can become corrupted. I'd try reformatting the card again just in case that happened.

Have you tried holding down the power button for 15 seconds or so to completely turn off the machine then press again to turn on?

If that still doesn't work, then I guess your next step would be to either return it to the retailer and/or contact Nintendo.

@zitpig contacted the retailer, said there is nothing he can do cause it worked when i checked it out and there are no nintendo dedicated repair shops in my country...so if you live in a country that doesn't have nintendo suppory you are pretty much screwed since most retailers that import this don't really care.at this point i'm thinking of taking the battery cable out and leave it for like 20/30min to make the processor completely shut down then try again

So retailers offer no form of warranty in your country? Wow, that sucks.

I would try just letting the battery deplete and the system turn off first before even attempting to open it up - you could do more damage opening it and the repair costs could be higher.

Good luck though.

@zitpig they do...but it's only paper...i live in romania so sending it to nintendo not an option since it will cost same as a new console...how do i deplete the battery?!?

Turn the machine on and leave it until it turns off. Repeat until it doesn't turn on at all. Leave for an hour, then charge for an hour or two. Hopefully that will have completely drained the system and urned it off fully rahter than just by entering sleep mode. Perhaps then it will resest and restart properly.

Be aware - fully depleting a Lithium ion battery is not good for its health. Short term it will be fine, but long term (I'm talking many months) can cause it to swell and potentially explode. It can also shorten the battery lifespan.

The other thing I just thought of is perhaps your Switch just doesn't have enough power to boot - maybe it's not charging properly or the battery itself isn't working. If you're charging via the dock, could you try using the lead only for a while?

@zitpig ok...i will try this and let you know...when it's fully powered down and plug it in it showes battery with the thunder mark in,so charger works .dock works as well...everytime i conect and disconect it the chraging light flickers.but only for a second.

The green light turning on for a short time is normal.

Anyway, just because it looks like its charging doesn;t mean it actually is (although it might be!).

@zitpig managed to fix it.held all 3 buttons pressed 15secs,then released only power button, then pressed again for 20 secs, then released power, pressed again till nintendo logo appeared then released all buttons and waited for 5 secs and it booted...did this 3times now just to make sure it works every time

Good news and a weight off your mind, no doubt

@kamalmuntasir if you put sd card in it.it will never boot...you have to format the sd card on a pc to fat32 then insert it...for the console to boot up again you have to keep trying to start it in safe mode hold +&- and power for 60secs then tap power button again and hold all 3 pressed again for 30 secs then tap power button again and hold for 5secs(it should have started clean boot by now).keep in mind it will erase everything on the switch

kamalmuntasir

@kamalmuntasir just to let you know my problem is that i havent played switch in 2 months and today i tried to turn it on but after the nintendo logo comes it shuts off. Was this your problem as well?

kamalmuntasir

Rykoshe

Yes.i had the same problem...boot up didn't go pass the nintendo logo.keep on trying it.it will work

Rykoshe

kamalmuntasir

@Rykoshe just to let you know i do not have an SD card and i have tried your way but it does not start :/

kamalmuntasir

Rykoshe

@kamalmuntasir well it took me 2 days of that.last time it was off for 2 weeks.but short of removing the battery this is your best bet to fix it
