Oddly there's no thread for this game despite Bayonetta 3 going down well. I suppose there's no hoopla over it's release and the lack of a nudey witch isn't jibing with people the same way.
I'm hoping there's a new trailer soon since it's not long till release now and not much was shown before. it's got an Okami vibe which has me interested.
@Bunkerneath You can get it cheaper else where plus Amazon are eww.
The Game Collection are doing an offer at the moment of 10% off pre-orders so it ends up being less than £40 plus the usual cheaper than face value places like ShopTo have it for £43.
@jump The Game Collection is a saving of 86p and they will take the payment now, I know Amazon is evil and all that, but I know they deliver here and they wont take the cash until the release. So it's not much difference
@Bunkerneath You also get reward points so you get like £5 off the next purchase too.
Whilst it's great for you not everyone can be a tax dodger so most people on here will have to pay the VAT on it so it's likely to be a better option for people than Amazon.
This could be a good gateway experience for people interested in the Bayonetta series. Considering that this is a Teen-rated game for what is normally a Mature-rated franchise, I wonder if there's a chance Origins will sell better than any other game in the series? Of course I'll be there day-one for this. But this art style does make me want to play Okami again.

@MagicianI can't see it selling that well myself. A few users on here who normally get everything day one have surprisingly gone no to it and then add in a few people claiming it's not worth the price of a full game it may lose some Bayonetta regulars. Then it has a struggle to attract younger wholesome fans to make up those numbers since it's associated with nudey witch violence despite no nudey witch action in the game.
To be honest I don't care about it's sales number or it's connection to Bayonetta. This looks an Okami successor so I'm all in for it.
I played the teaser in Bayonetta 3, immediately fell in love with the style and how Cereza looks and talks here, went "that's gotta be dlc/a future project" and wanted it from that point on.
I for one am super looking forward to it. I didn't even expect actual combat after the teaser only giving you those very brief rhythm puzzles and otherwise just a handful of voicelines in an admittedly gorgoues, storybook-looking fairy forest but that part could be super fun if it takes a little bit after 3's demon slaves or Cheshire just acts like Cheshire does in 3.
I'm not sure how similar it'll be to Okami tho, @jump
Personally don't see where that comparison would come from but I have to admit that I only played very little of Okami which I want to rectify at some point.

I get why people would be hesitant to pay full price for this, but at the same time, I think they haven't shown off enough to justify it at the moment. If it's a 20+ hour game, then that justifies it for me.
I think I'm probably just about to finish it - had to take a break to get something else done - and I'm really enjoying it. It seems like it's gonna be mostly a puzzle game if the first two chapters, or rather the second (and first "proper") chapter, is anything to go by.
It's incredibly charming, they manage to give the two main characters a nice dynamic right off the bat, and if the "completion percentage" on the saves is any indication the game might actually be a fair bit longer than the other three on a first playthrough. Also not sure if there's gonna be many secrets or if there's outright going to be backtracking for stuff because you get a map of the forest.
I was going to get this game either way, because I thoroughly enjoy everything about the series so far, but I think it's gonna be "worth" its price. The demo has me confident there's gonna be a lot to chew on here.
And not just because there's 1 enemy type in the game so far, with what must be around 25-30 ones hidden in the bestiary 🙃
It's not often when NL's review is one of the lowest aggregate scores.

My copy's en route and I hope to get started on it this weekend. Bayonetta is a unique character and series and there's no way I'm not going to give it a fair shot and judge it for myself.
I always take longer on games than most people say they do, so I'm sure I can find enough value in it to justify Day 1. Looking forward to it.

@Reyren there's about half a dozen difficulty settings for you to tune just about every aspect of the game, so if you struggle with any one thing in the game you are gonna have the option to make stuff easier.
It's not at all like the main series games tho. Combat is here but it's pretty simplistic - without getting mindless, thankfully - you have two attack buttons, basically. ZL for Cereza, ZR for Cheshire and from there you mostly do different moves by holding and releasing the buttons in different ways. Items are on the dpad, you can switch elements for different puzzles and things you can do in battles with the face buttons.
The demo is actually a pretty good way to get a general grasp on the systems, only excluding the elemental stuff but that's also very easy to use and understand. If you're unsure about the game, download the demo and give it a shot. It's about 1-2 hours long and should help you decide.
I've been playing it off and on since release. It's ridiculously charming, and I love how the whole feel of the story is like reading a children's book. I'm not quite in the mood for it at the moment though, so I'll have to shelve it for a little while but I'm quite impressed.
