With the Ezio Collection recently announced and coming next month in February, we'll have a grand total of 7 Assassin's Creed games on the system. Not too shabby.

I never played the Ezio Trilogy. Well, I have, but only briefly. The PC version isn't modernized and the controller support is questionable. Basically have to use an Xbox controller if you want the correct button prompts, and mapping gyro requires a full KB/M control scheme which results in keyboard button prompts. This Switch release was much needed.

I just hope the game has gyro aiming. Every other AC game on Switch does, but it wasn't mentioned in the list of Switch exclusive features. Granted, I'm not sure how much aiming was used in these games. Perhaps that's why (maybe someone who's played the games can chime in as to whether there's enough aiming that gyro would be needed).

I will get it only for the Assassin's Creed 2 on the cartridge. If the rest are on download codes I will give them away like I did with the Resident Evil Triple Pack.

Sisilly_G

What a shame. And it's a "budget" release too. Why not charge the full US$60 and throw in a 32GB cartridge? Surely all of the games would fit if they excluded the short films. (?)

I really wanted to play Brotherhood, but like the last release, I'm inclined to skip this entirely.

@Zuljaras : That reminds me that I still have another code or two to sell as I eventually caved and bought the "physical" Resident Evil releases for the included cartridges as well.

"Gee, that's really persuasive. Do you have any actual points to make other than to essentially say 'me Tarzan, physical bad, digital good'?"

@Zuljaras Zuljras, if you remember, I finished Resident Evil 6 thanks to the code you gave me. And it wasn't as bad as I expected, it was fun. If something like that happens inside the AC, I'd appreciate it if you'd write me down in advance.

@Silly_G Do you have anything you want to give? I would be so happy.

@JokerCK : I intend to sell them rather than give them away though as the physical editions weren't particularly cheap.

@Zuljaras
It'll probably be an update like the other AC games on Switch.

Even though I've fully transitioned to digital, I appreciate the fact they put the main numbered releases on cart: AC2, AC3 and AC4, and kept the side games as the updates. I can't help but double dip on physical Switch releases for the Collection, though this will be my last console I collect physical for. It gets too expensive buying games twice.

@Silly_G The 3 games will 100% fit on the cartridge if they remove the language packs. All language packs excluding English must be free downloads. It is a waste of space!

@JokerCK I will remember that

@JaxonH The only exception is the Assassins Creed 3 collection as Liberation is actually on the cart The DLC is a separate download Tyranny of Washington or something like that.

I didn't realise this was actually officially confirmed, let alone releasing next month. I can see this being a short run on the cartridge version before moving to code in the box for everything,

Though the game was leaked a few weeks ago, it was only announced a day or two ago, so it's still pretty fresh news.

As for the release- no Switch game to date I'm aware of that was sold as a cartridge and then switched to a code in the box. And considering we have two other Assassin's Creed compilations on Switch, it's not like we don't have a specific precedent, either. So I don't actually think that'll be the case.

@JaxonH I thought both assassins creed switched to code in a box. Maybe they are running both but I assumed any cartridge sales were old stock. I think a lot of lego games also moved to code in a box too but again maybe they are doing both.

I've held off getting this trilogy on the xbox to see if it came to switch. Looking forward to it, its a packed year for games already.

@JaxonH It's been a long while since I played the Ezio games and haven't played the later games, but what is the gyro used for? Don't specifically remember any 'aiming' in those early AC games. I guess Black Flag would've have some ship battles where you're firing cannons?

Although AC II is the only game on the cartridge for the physical release of this collection, I'm excited none the less. After AC IV, AC II is the best game in the series, imo. I remember blasting through the game in only a few days when it originally released and loving every minute of it.

Without hesitation or reservation I've thrown down a preorder.

Oh wow. Thats news to me!

Maybe it's because I'm in NA. Here the games are still being sold like normal AFAIK.

I know AC3 and AC4 used it. Any guns, crossbow, blowdarts, etc in the early games?

@JaxonH From what I remember, any shooting was just locking onto target. It's been a long time and a lot of games since I've played them though, so it's possible that my memory is a bit hazy - maybe they've changed it to incorporate gyro aiming? Will have to try it when it comes out

I really want this! But, I barely played the rebel collection when it came out, so I decided to go back to it before this comes out as I have never played an Assassins Creed game before, I'm around 15% through Black Flag and it's great!!

Does anyone know what's happening with the reviews for this game? I was expecting it up on Nintendo Life yesterday?

MarioBrickLayer

JaxonH

@MarioBrickLayer
SwitchUp already has a review up.

I got my physical copy yesterday and started playing already.

It's legit. Solid performance, nothing wrong with it I could see.

I still can't believe we can fit these games on a Switch cart. I remember when I had to upgrade my PC graphics card just to get some better performance to play these. I'm tempted to pick it up, because the PC mapping sucks from what I remember. I wonder how it will look and run on a console?

Eeros

JaxonH

@Spunky
Well, this is a collection of 3 full games and 2 videos, so only ACII is fit on the cart. But I get what you're saying. We've come a long ways.

The PC mappings do suck, and, only the original versions are on Steam. The Ezio Collection versions are not. It looks and runs about as well as it can. I mean, the games are a decade old so obviously their age shows, and it's only 30fps, but it looks sharp (even in handheld mode) and plays smooth without framerate issues, so ya.

I think playing on OLED makes the games look really good though. That smaller screen hides the games' age.
