Kinda on topic, during HAMSTER's 1M downloads special event, they revealed the next wave of NEOGEO titles:
Real Bout Fatal Fury (next week)
Aero Fighters 3
World Heroes 2 Jet
Sengoku 3
Samurai Shodown III
Ghost Pilots
Gururin
Stakes Winner
Real Bout Fatal Fury Special
Holy heck! Aero Fighters 3, Sengoku 3, and RBS, coming soon! (and Samsho III for me)
@meppi64 Nice one, there's some great games there. From that list I'll be getting Aero Fighters 3,Ghost Pilots, Sengoku 3 and Stakes Winner.
I'd never heard of Stakes Winner before but from reading a review there it seems to be a very good game. It's definitely something different anyway. I wonder if we can use that for a weekly challenge? Haha
I'll be grabbing all of them, like I always do.
Most excited for Real Bout, Aero Fighters 3 (don't think I've played that one before, Special is different, right?), Ghost Pilots (really love that one) and Sengoku 3.
People seem to be excited for Stakes Winner. Never played it either, but it might be something special.
Would love to do a high score chance for that, as well as Neo Turf Masters.
And I just now noticed that we do have a quote feature here.... oh boy
I've been using the reply feature and had been thinking how hard it sometimes is to reply to something a couple of posts back when the person has already made other posts as well. Guess I'm not the quickest cat around.

Just played Sengoku 2 and I really like it. It's plays lot differently from other beat-em-ups and looks fantastic too. I'm already looking forward to the 3rd, the graphics on that one look amazing.
Pro tip: you can control which combo chain you perform. Once you mash the A button holding down does a quick attack combo of strictly jabs. Left and right does what seems to be a risky 5 hit heavy attack finish combo. Up seems to do the same as left and right but longer, I think.
Be sure to load the game up and check the pause menu manual in these hamster games. There’s definitely some inside info in those menus that will give you a better understanding of the games systems.
Huh, I had no idea.... And I have Mutation Nation on my AES. Go figure....
I always just played it like Final Fight and Streets of Rage.
Never even giving any thought to it having those kinds of options.

@masterLEON Splendid job outlining what we are doing with these Arcade high-score/caravan challenges. 👏
@oorwullie and the rest of the crew. Do you think it might be worth posting something along the lines of @masterLeon 's post in the Adult Switch Gamers thread? Just a thought to see if we can drum up some more interest? We had an amazing start with a dozen or so of us posting here and setting high scores. Be fantastic if we could get a consistent 20 of us playing along together and forming a Top 20 NL Arcade Community High-Score ranking for these games.
@meppi64 It's exciting news to see more Neo Geo games being announced from Hamster (wish we had a heads up on the incoming Arcade Archives titles too).
I'll definitely be getting AERO FIGHTERS 3 and SENGOKU 3. GHOST PILOTS as well at some point.
Actually, I quite like the look of GURURIN? Strange rotating screen, match 3 style puzzle game. Might be a nice change of genre for the weekly challenge?
@Lroy
I really would like to see a release schedule for the regular arcade games, even if they don't have a date or anything. Right now it's impossible to guess what the new game will be next week because there is so much to pick from.
We can only look to the PS4 to see possible releases on Switch of games that they have already released there.
On the Neo Geo it's a bit easier since the catalogue is a lot smaller and we can look at most games coming over sooner or later, barring any licensing issues or the like.
No idea how Gururin will end up actually. It's really hard for me to get a feel on it by just looking at someone else playing. It might surprise me like Joy Joy Kid/Puzzled though, which I somehow bought on AES and mistook for a platform game and ended up loving it even though it's basically Tetris played with a B-mode like you'd see on some random Tetris port somewhere.
The first link that came up on that video was Neo Drift Out, now that's a game I'd love to see again on Switch. Really unique and plays like a dream.
@meppi64 Weird. The link is working for me and taking me to gameplay footage of GURURIN. Not NEO DRIFT OUT (heard only good things about that game and think I have played it once or twice on emulation - general consensus seems it is superior to that other isometric racer already on Switch. Forget its name).
I get what you mean about needing to try GURURIN for yourself. By the way, I think you may be the first person to ever describe JOY JOY KID/PUZZLED to me in a positive light: only ever been told it is an almost broken Tetris rip-off.

It's a bit of a stretch as there were plenty Irem arcade games released between those first 3 but none of those have had an Arcade Archives release on PS4. Their next release after Youjyuden (Heroic Episode) was R-type and they have already confirmed that it's coming.
@OorWullie I have faith in your reasoning. Let's hope you are indeed proved correct. I fell in love with R-TYPE, horizontal shooters and weird mech-organic/futuristic SF with the Sega Master System port. Along with SHINOBI. R-TYPE is one of my earliest, fully rememerbered, console gaming experiences. No coincidence perhaps that they were both originally arcade games 😉
@Lroy Oh no, I mean the "up next" video that popped up when clicking the link. But those are somewhat random. I just got Neo Drift Out as my first recommended video.
That would be Trash Rally I think. Never played it, but when I was picking up Neo Drift Out, Lee (of VGI) told me that this one was way better than the other rally game on Neo Geo and I always trusted his recommendation.
Gururin got some bad reviews, but I'll still give it a try. You never know.
I can't really recommend Joy Joy Kid to everyone as I can see people really hating it.
It's very basic and really hard as well. But for some reason, it really did click with me.
Not an all-time favourite of mine, but a game I do like to play once in a while.
I wonder how it plays in multiplayer though.

@meppi64@oorwullie The Arcade Archives Switch releases aren't weekly though are they? They just seem to appear one week out of the blue. But this of course could just be the skewed lens through which I fail to keep up with the world, lol!
I wish they were weekly. Say Arcade Archive title releases on the Tues/Weds and Neo Geo on the Thurs. Or better still, one a day once Sega and Capcom et. al get into the groove too!
@Lroy They've not been weekly no, as far as I can tell there doesn't seem to be any pattern to when they're released. I initially thought it could be when they had a weaker Neo Geo game for release they'd include an Arcade Archives release to go with it but then we just got one there with Sengoku 2.
One a day?. Man don't give them any ideas haha. I could never resist a Capcom or Sega arcade game but that would get seriously expensive fast.
@meppi64 There is another Neo Geo racer called Over Top and it's already on Switch. I've got it but I didn't think it was up to much. There's a motorbike game too called Riding Hero, looks like Super Hang On. Some class Stakes Winner as a racing game too but I think that's stretching it a bit.
@OorWullie
Ah yes, Overtop was the one when he told me to get Neo Driftout instead! Forgot it's name.
BTW, I didn't put two and two together first but since Gururin is a Face game, it's practically confirmed that we'll be getting Zupapa and Money Idol Exchanger as well!
All I need now is for them to get the Visco licence as well, if they don't already have it and it'll be perfect when Puzzle de Pon! and R, as well as Neo Drift Out and Andro Dunos are released.
Edit: oh and I just read that SNK games from before the Neo Geo hardware will start being released as regular ACA titles as well!
@meppi64 Holy sh.^t! pre-MVS Hardware SNK games. That means we could get POW: PRISONERS OF WAR (one of my fave beat-em ups from way back in the day), the first PREHISTORIC ISLE, perhaps even AERO FIGHTERS 1 (albeit a Video System game) and that zombie gallery shooter/light gun style game. BEAST BUSTERS or something or other. That's made my day if these do indeed materialise. Do we have a link to an article about this announcement?
