@wasilewski I thought it was 29th this month? Really hoping it would be physical but I guess the digital is fine too in this case.

Not sure i have time to play or actually improve before challenge ends, so this might be my final score.

Incredible scores! I'm not even going to stress about finding time to play any more before the deadline. Got a lot on as preparing for a weekend away for my eldest's birthday. I'm light years behind those numbers in any case. Well played fellas.

EDIT Here's my submission for this week's challenge on DRAGON BLAZE:

By the way, anyone heard from @Meppi ? Hope he is doing okay? Was surprised not to see him at the MARIO KART 8 DELUXE games night past couple of Mondays and also not see him take part on this challenge. As we all know, DRAGON BLAZE is his jam after all?

Great one mate!

Btw, did you guys notice the recent post about Pinball FX NL tournament? I'm a mediocre pinball player but I'll give it a shot!

The original fire has died and gone, but the riot inside moves on.

Thanks, let's see how the score stands when the challenge end. I have now this "one more turn" syndrome going on, improved by 10k or something, but I was too lazy to put another screenshot online. I'll do it in the evening it it matters at all (or I improve again later today).

But damn this is hard one, especially when playing for score as just killing enemies do not earn you points.

Did some investigation and ordered myself following cheap parts to try with the Hori stick (all should work):

https://www.arcadeworlduk.com/products/2lb-tension-spring-for...

Didn't cost much and I'm fairly sure those will improve the things I didn't like with the Hori stick a lot. @RetroGamerAndrew Should work with Hori RAP KAI, I think that has exactly same stick as the Switch Hori Hayabusa stick.

Now after playing shumps with those mods in my Hori arcade stick for some 5-10 hours in total, I'm convinced it was big improvement for these kind of games.

So, in case you have such Hori arcade stick or thinking about getting one, I really recommend getting those mods and trying them out if you want to play shumps with it (cheap, very easy and quick to install, no soldering needed) . Btw. if you are XBone, or PS3-4 as well, it might be better to get one for those instead + converter for Switch as there is no converters to use the Switch one with other consoles (for now at least)

It's been a long time since I played with my stick, but I'll definitely try your suggestions in the future; my HRAP is the PS3/PS4 version, I already have the Mayflash adapter so I'm good to go.

There are some great scores being posted for Dragon Blaze. Amazing!

I was aiming for 300k, but I didn't even come close. I got greedy every time and constantly died while focusing on the golden coins. Nonetheless a very fun and challenging game.

Well played @GFoyle! That "one more run" mindset has helped me out more often than not, good to see it came through for you! Great job!

I have some time before prepping for Splatfest, so I'm going to try to push through the 300k's before the deadline. Right now, I got 308,900, which I've duplicated on another run last night (which I find hilariously ironic).

@masterLEON @GFoyle Awesome scores!

@masterLEON I'm now going through the just one more run mindset as well, especially now that I see your scores. It looks like we similarly get caught up in the same location, but you finally broke through. I'm so close to my breakthrough, I know it!!

I can’t seem to get above 200k, so below is my final score. Congrats to all, I’ve seen some great scores posted.

Couldn't improve anymore with my last session, didn't have the timing, reaction down needed to do it. Got some more high 300k's though.

For scoring, I would try to improve first on the first 3 levels or so before even thinking 4th or later ones. It's just easier to get improvements on early levels than to get anything on later ones, it get's so hectic so fast. For example, I try to be consistent with first level, to achieve score around 130k - 145k no matter which stage I get (usually this involves the golden head, tech bonus from the boss and a lot of dragon attacks instead of shooting to get those coins ).

Quaid and Ian are the best ones for scoring because you can use the dragon more often, but they are not easy to play / survive. Ian is the more challenging one of those two, mainly because his bomb cannot save you. Today I tried with Rob too and got some 300k+ too in first 3 levels, so it's not like it could be done with Rob (or Sonia).

Also, remember not to panic! The hit box is quite small, you don't need much space between bullets to pass through. I usually die because I get greedy or I panic in face of bullet shower or some relatively fast bullets coming my way, which I could have just dodged using small movements and keeping calm.
