I wanted to say I'm disappointed with the sparsity of Arcade Archives Nintendo games. I mean I don't want them to be released weekly as Neo Geo line, but why bi-monthly or worse?
Arcade Archives Mario Bros. was out on September 27th and VS. Super Mario Bros. on December 22nd. Last week Punch-Out!! was released, after more than three months. Why Nintendo's arcade games get released so slowly?
@Moroboshi876 Nintendo arcade archives are not a separate thing to the standard arcade archives! We have had a few Irem games, some Nichibitsu games and a Technos. The Nintendo games are coming, but they are part of a larger collection.
I never drive faster than I can see. Besides, it's all in the reflexes.
@GrailUK I know they're not, but Neo Geo games are released weekly and I assumed Nintendo ones kind of were a line of its own inside Arcade Archives, like ACA Neo Geo, although without a name. Anyway, non-Neo Geo games don't get released weekly either.
@Agent721 it is and it’s a beautiful little thing. Word of warning though- at the moment you can only load one rom at a time but you can create 4 save states on the machine itself. There is also only support for joystick port one games. However these problems will be ironed out in future updates.
@Agent721 Ah, that's a shame. Looks like the machine just isn't for me then.
I don't understand how MS focus changed to much, from having some of the best exclusives around on 360, to barely having any at all at this point.
After 5 year, I would expect there to be at least two dozen exclusive games to the system that would tempt me, if not convince me I needed one. Guess not.
Such a weird business strategy to me.
I don't have a 4K TV and seeing how I bought a new 65" plasma a couple years ago, that cost 2-3 times as much as a similar sized 4K TV today, I'm not jumping to toss it aside and buy a new one.
I'll be sticking with it for quite a few more years unless it somehow breaks down.
As for all those apps and media centre stuff, I can see the appeal, but I never use any of my consoles for anything but playing games.
Heck, I don't even watch tv at all, besides selected series, which I tend to buy on bluray or movies, and those are 99% Asian films these days and have been for quite a few years now. So that side of the system doesn't do anything for me at all.
Guess I'll just wait for Forza Horizon 2 to drop in the mailbox tomorrow and play it on my 360.
Have to say, I did indeed prefer Forza to Gran Tourismo by a wide margin.
The driving in GT is fine, feels really good in fact, but when it comes to actual racing and competing against other cars, especially AI, that's where it severely lacks for me.
Heck, due to the always online nature of the last one, and the inaccessibility of a large chunk of the game, I didn't even bother buying it. Didn't really like the demo either. :-/
So yeah, I do miss the regular Forza as well.
@CaffeinatedGamer
Oh absolutely!
I did find the time attack btw.
It's under Playtime, Race against the clock.
I thought playtime was only for creating and sharing tracks and such. It's only lap time though. No 3 lap races, which is weird. Gonna have to see if it's easier to do in PGR4. Can't remember.
Really like driving the Ferrari F50. Love the feeling of nearly losing control of such a powerful car, yet being able to keep it on the track if you get it right.
Couple of times with it in Tokyo:
Chinjuku Kabukicho Loop: 0.55.78
Bark to the Sun: 1.14.70
Shinjuku Speedway: 2.50.98
Might be easier to add me on your friendlist I think, and then post what tracks you're concentrating on and which car to pick.
Don't know what's going on with my achievements though. In some games they seem fine, while in others, I barely have any at all, despite playing a ton of it. Really weird.
Same for my save data. Certain save data is right there when I redownload a game, yet other data can't be found. No idea how that works.
I did have a coupe of at least 3 profiles. My original Xbox profile that I lost somehow, can't really recall what happened. I might have just decided to start from scratch because I wanted my profiles to be the same across platforms. Of course that was before you could change your name. :-/
A new meppi64 360 profile where most of my stuff seems to be on, a Japanese meppi65 profile that I needed to redeem DLC for those Japanese exclusive games as well as a couple of games that didn't come out here on XBLA but were region free. Virtual On being one of them I think. We couldn't even buy indies here in Belgium for whatever reason. So I used my Japanese profile for that as well. And then another profile from my best friend who ended up selling all his stuff for whatever reason. So it's a bit of a mess.
At least I was able to download everything (I think). turned out it was 282 items and not games, so it only took a couple of days, not weeks to download everything.
Although I ran into some trouble. For some reason Trials Evolution wasn't on my download list and I couldn't find it in the store either, until I did a specific search for it.
There it asked me if I wanted to repurchase the game for free.... yeah.... No idea what that was about.
So I might be missing a couple of games that are either delisted and not in my download list, or have to be "repurchased" for free without me knowing what I'm missing. Bit of a mess.
The only reason I knew I was missing it was because the original Trials HD was pretty great, but not perfect. And I didn't get into Fusion for some reason. Way too much fluff in that game to the point where it became more of a chore to play.
So I knew there was one in between those two. After a quick google I found that it was Trials Evolution, which is, for me at least, the perfect Trials game. Absolutely perfect to play against friends for times as well, the way it's implemented.
I'm now actually stoked about that Urban Trial Underground game on Switch, even though it's a different developer. It looks really good and pretty basic, which is perfect for this type of game if it's executed well.
Hoping for the best there.
As for upscaling on the XBone X, does this work only when upscaling to 4K?
Or is there an option to upscale the games to 1080p as well with higher frame rates?
That would be something I'd get quite a bit of use out of, even though the system costs more than twice of an S system. Hmm

You’re making the right choice. And If it wasn’t for 3/4 of my US based gamer friends also being on that console, I’d probably skip out as well. But as a media box, it truly is great,

@Agent721 yeah, I'll just wait and see what happens with the next generation of systems.
The way MS is putting all that work into backwards compatibility, I'm 99% sure that's with the aim of keeping it all working with the upcoming Xbox. It wouldn't make much sense otherwise.
Just had a bit of a scare. Opened up the brand new Japanese 360 and started to install all my physical games onto it as well as all the Cave DLC and a ton of games.
When all of a sudden it completely powered down.
Since its using a Japanese power brick and is one of those latest E systems, I can't use my EU ones from the regular slims. So it's connected through an import transfo.
Turned out the system need about 150W at times and the transformer only supports 100, so it started overheating and shut down out of safety.
It cooled off now and nothing is broken.
So now I'm looking at a EU brick for my 360 E and all I can find are those cheap Chinese knock-offs. So there's no way, I'm going to risk getting one of those.
So I just put a bid on a system with 2 controllers, 25 or so games and a 500GB HDD. All for 100€ whit should go for 120 max.
Oh well, better to have another spare one than to blow up an expensive Japanese one...
After all, 4 or 5 360s, what's the difference, really.
@OorWullie yeah, Gururin is a game you won't really miss on your system. Good as a novelty, but that's about it. Unless I have been playing it completely wrong, but I doubt it.

Glad your system didn’t totally brick! I’ve had them RRoD three times across two systems, so I know how that goes. I currently own one 360 which has never bricked and hopefully it stays that way.
I think you’re getting a good deal on your new bid. And I def would not use a Chinese 3rd party power supply on your Japanese 360 either!

@oorwullie@meppi64 Sounds as though I need to boot up the old RetroPie and give GURURIN a few plays before I make up my mind on a purchase or not. No doubt it will sit in my Switch wishlist at the very least ☺️
Really, really, hope BAD DUDES... has been updated with the missing charged attack. I replayed that game on MAME as recently as last summer - along with Data East's ROBOCOP - and if you'd have told me then, less than 12 months later I could play it on the Switch I would have been delighted. Just a shame my enthusiasm has been tempered by the fact the jury is still very much out on whether this 'Johnny Turbo' label can match the standard of Hamster's arcade releases. And for the love of God wake up NAMCO and start following-up NAMCO MUSEUM with some more games. They could and should be giving Hamster a run for their money as the best arcade line on Switch.
What on earth is taking SEGA, Capcom, Konami, Midway, Taito, ToaPlan, Cave and co. so long to get their back catalogues into this system? Alas, I know some will be to do with rights issues.
@Lroy Yeah, try out Gururin for sure.
I would be surprised if you end up picking it up over any of the other puzzle games released so far.
Heck, I'd recommend Puzzled over this one and I fully realise that it's a very niche game and that I'm probably one of the few people who has a soft spot for Joy Joy Kid/Puzzled.
@Agent721 Oh believe me, I was terrified for a half an hour there.
Decided to let the transformer cool off and then see if everything was all right. Not going to make a mistake with hoping for a cheap knockoff to do the trick either. It's better to spend a little more and get an actual replacement instead of something that might as well burn your house down while you're asleep...
Oh and I just installed this little beauty.
Sure, it's showing it's age at this point, much more so than any of the sequels, but damnit if it isn't still a ton of fun!
For anyone who grew up in the early to mid 80's on Robotron, Gaplus, Image Fight or any other classic shooting games, this was the kind of game we could imagine if someone asked us what games would be like in the future. None of that Call of Duty or Battlefield nonsense. Good old Earth Defence Forces! ;P
If that sounds like you and have never played the series before hunt down a copy for cheap, doesn't matter on which system really, although the Vita version are a little harder to play due to the tiny sticks.
But anything on 360, PS3 or PS4, certainly give it a try.
Just be sure to not pick up EDF Insect Armageddon as that one seems like it's the same series, but it's made by a completely different team and isn't really good.
Keep in mind that these games aren't technical showpieces at all, far from it. Graphics look like a scaled PS2 game and the framerate can tank under 10fps in worst case scenarios.
But it's without a shadow of a doubt one of those few games that's a lot more fun than it is good.
Heck, I was even crazy enough to buy a Japanese import copy just to play it all over again from the beginning and grind away for a couple hundred hours more.
Oh and if you pick up EDF 2017 on 360, turn the controls to advanced!
Otherwise it plays really badly. You need to have it set to play like a regular third person shooter with dual analog controls.
The first couple of level are really basic and nothing like what's to come, so give it a bit of time to grow on you.
The fun part is to grab those green briefcases when killing enemies and see what kind of weapons these unlock. There are some absolute bonkers weapons in here, you'll be surprised!
So yeah, I really want to see this series get on Switch. I would be absolute madness to be able to team up with 3 others from here an tear those cities a new one. I mean, those bugs, yeah, those bugs and aliens...that's what I meant!
