So many dear memories of that console. Every Saturday night I would bring it to my friend Bob's house, and we'd connect it to a behemoth of a console color TV in his basement and play until the wee hours, often nodding off while playing. We never criticized the graphics or the controllers, though some games were praised for their graphical creativity. It was just no-nonsense arcade-style fun. I still have a 2600 and a bunch of boxed games, though mostly for nostalgia.

and mtv played music. also some games scores only had a certain amount of digits so you could flip the score and it went back to zero lol

I believe my lasting appreciation for the hobby has at least something to do with having been in it since the days of Pong.

@ragman7777 I'm only 18 and I own and love my Atari 2600. It's an amazing piece of history and I still enjoy quite a bit of those games!

Yep! I remember renting games at the weekends from my local toy store for my 2600.

Empire Strikes Back was a particular favourite, as was a racing game I forget the name of. Enduro?
The time of day changed, all you saw at night was tail lights.
Pitfall was magical... ah, happy times!

Moved onto a 48k ZX Spectrum, after seeing a friend playing Hunchback.

I friend of mine had the Atari 2600. I was at his house after school quite a bit! LOL.

And then I got a Commodore 64 and he was always at my house! LOL.

I had a friend that play and owned the Atari 2600 but I never owned one. I wished I had owned the NES or SNES system though. My gaming started in Arcades and then went to PC first then back to Nintendo.
