Topic: Animal Crossing: New Horizons

I feel like the theory that a skeleton crew is working on updates is true, since we've been only getting small updates since January, and now we don't even know if an update is coming or not at the end of the month.

Would make sense too, since the main team making this game works on splatoon, and there's a third entry coming.

I haven't played in a couple of days so just downloaded the latest update. Did they change up villager dialog? Seems like they're saying a wider variety of things when I first talk to them.

Yeah,
dialog got more variety. There was even something about that found in the datamine. I noticed that they especially talk more about each other and what they said to one another.

Have been in rebuilt mode since Easter after flattening almost my entire island. I’m very happy how my jungle island is coming together. I think 1/4 is finished. I was even able to move some houses away from the beach again. I’m working slowly but steady.

It's about time they added more dialogue!
I've only had time to play for 10 minutes a day recently....but they always say the same things.
But this month's update seems underwhelming overall

I feel like they have multiple things in the works but don't want to play all their cards at once, which makes sense but the wait is annoying.
Even if they work on something for months, a lot of us will complete it in a weekend and expect even more content. They can't win 😂

At least the update added something sorely missing from the other games to make the villagers more lively.

@TiredMomma5 Dialogue where villagers actually reference one another. It was on New Leaf, but got removed in New Horizons, and now got added back.

@VoidofLight oh wow. I didn't know that. Only been playing NH for a week now. Used to play AC on the GC years ago

@TiredMomma5 Looks like the game added more dialogue for the villagers, going by some of the previous posts. I haven't played it in a while though.

@MarioLover92 I haven't played since last December. The game isn't really where I personally want it to be in terms of content, so I decided just to play other games and wait for bigger updates, or the game to stop updating as a whole.

@VoidofLight Ah okay, the last time I played it was like a week ago. I gave one of my friends a Nook Points item that time. As much as I like AC:NH, I pretty much play it occasionally these days, so I can at least find DIY recipes and other stuff for the friends I made here. Plus I've been in the mood for playing other games as well.

That dialog was always there, but you had to "dig" for it by talking to the same villager multiple times in a day. First time you would talk to them, you would almost always get the same generic greetings. Subsequent interactions would lead to more elaborate conversations. All Nintendo did was move the elaborate dialog earlier into the rotation so now you can get it first time you talk to them.

@Mountain_Man I've talked to them multiple times over and over in the past, and I got nothing like that.

I will say, even if you're not into the game's amount of content now, at least it won't punish you for the crime of not playing it regularly. You can take a break from it.

We as a gaming community were not harsh enough with how Animal Crossing didn't respect you if you wanted to stop playing for a while.

@kkslider5552000 Honestly, I miss some of the consequences the game pushes onto you for not playing regularly. It makes me not want to actually keep playing, as there's no actual reason to keep playing. Weeds? All they do is negatively effect town ratings. Villagers? They aren't even interesting to talk to anymore, and they'll never move unless you allow them to do so. Bed head? You just change it in a mirror for free.

I really hate this gimmick from old Animal Crossing.
Really really hate.
Why should force the gamer to play Animal Crossing everyday or the game will remove any villagers you have ?
Why Nintendo should do that ?
That was not even a charm of the game, that was an insult for me.
It wasn't even fun to force gamers play same game everyday, sometimes they are not in the mood to play or don't have time to play any game so don't punish them with stupid consequences for not playing the game regularly. It was like the game has been designed to have envy feeling toward players and the game keep saying "Play with me everyday or i will screw up your life".

I'm glad villagers in ACNH will never moving out unless if i said so.
This feature in ACNH was perfect for me as i can leave the game anytime i want and i can do Time Travel a lot without losing them.
Even i really like certain games, sometimes i want to break for a while and when i return to the games, i want everything was stay same without losing anything.

@Anti-Matter I know you hate animal crossing, no reason to keep stating it.
