My opinion after a year (well slightly less for me), is that New Horizons is some of the best and worst of the series. But the best stuff easily makes up for a lot of the worst, at least for me. And a lot of the worst stuff is their early attempts at holiday events, which have been way better as the year went on.

@kkslider5552000 I’d still say that even the later holidays aren’t great. Most of them are slightly more dumbed down from new leaf.

So I go from never getting to tarantula island in almost an entire year to twice in a week. Running out of places to store these suckers until Flick arrives. 😏

@StarRoader Effectively, the game itself values customization more than actual gameplay. Where as the others in the series had a good balance between creativity and gameplay.

I continue to be baffled by these comments suggesting that New Leaf supposedly had depth and variety that is missing from New Horizons.

I definitely spent a lot of my time in New Leaf on Main Street or the Island, so I do feel like those aspects are missing.
...but Animal Crossing is about small things everyday, it's not exactly action packed

At least we're getting content updates - I don't have any time or interest in the multiplayer aspects. Events and Sanrio furniture is enough for now.

Just one more sea creature to go for me! Got the firefly squid and spider crab tonight, and I donated them both too.

@Kimyonaakuma I mean, even in every day things, New Horizons just feels lacking compared to previous games. There's nothing really keeping me playing. The content updates are also.. really underwhelming honestly.

@BrittGOAL14 Thanks bud! And no problem! Sadly, I got yet another wand recipe during my meteor shower (thanks, RNG), but I did get the crescent-moon chair DIY over at Aaron's island. Been wanting to get it for a good while!

In what way? What variety of activities were available in New Leaf that are missing from New Horizons?

Getting coffee at Brewsters and talking to animals about their day/unique dialogue
Getting a job at Brewsters
KK Slider DJing at Club LOL where you could dance with animals
Listen to Dr Shrunk jokes at Club LOL
Happy Home Showcase
Boat trip and song with Kapp'n
Island Minigames and visiting Kapp'ns family
Having animals come to your house
Digging up Gyroids and collecting them
Renting rooms in the upstairs of the museum to display things/store items
Upgrade Nook's show 5 times and get an upstairs
Play hide and seek with animals
Enacting town ordinances
Gain signatures for a petition
View your town history at the town tree
Redesign the town hall
Visit the shopping street and all the missing shops, seeing villagers who moved out shopping
Visit Mr Resetti at the Resetti Surveillance Centre
Get your fortune told by Katrina
Buying a game system to play games on
Visit Booker and Copper at the police station
Bury a time capsule
Wash Gracie's car

There was a lot... A LOT more to do in Animal Crossing New Leaf on a day to day basis, especially for those of us who don't care that much for the designing side of things. I'm sure I've missed a load of things aside from these.

While other audience like me prefer ACNH than ACNL due to designing aspect. (The Sims)
I'm the right audience for Animal Crossing game with more design aspect, less conversations and interactions.
I only talked to my villagers only 1 - 2 times when i meet them, didn't even engaged in yada yada yada 101 conversations like previous Animal Crossing.
I don't buy Animal Crossing for long train running of yada yada yada (i will seal Lyle's mouth when he start to talk).
