@Lroy Yeah I kept having communication errors and other players appeared to be warping/rubber banding at times.

I’ve very recently moved into a small flat within a house which has shared internet included in the rent, not sure if it’s the volume of use from others but when testing the connection on the switch settings everything is successful.

I may just have to get used to single player games for the time being.

I enjoyed the games that didn’t suffer from the lag and disconnects, cheers for organising.

@mudbuckr Who knows what was happening, just one of those things. More than happy to jump on with you another time in any online Switch game and see if we can hold a secure connection.

@mudbuckr If you're a dork like me and happen to have a wireless router laying around, you can try to set up a separate WiFi network and see if that helps. I also have a shared connection where I live, but given that it's dorm-style apartments it's shared by a ton of devices, and some of my stuff was acting hokey until I set up my own network.

Currently procrastinating on: implementing virtual memory and synchronization.
Currently distracted with: Mario Tennis Aces

@Lroy Cheers, I bought the Switch in January and only have MK8D, Skyrim, Xenoblade2 and Rayman Legends so little for multiplayer testing.

The switch is ideal for when I'm spending the night parked up in a layby in my lorry for the night, shame that layby's don't have internet access! Although after a 12+ hour shift I often don't have the energy to play a game and pull out the PSP to watch a UMD instead

@Judi I'm clueless when it comes to setting anything internet/router related. My landlord did mention that I could route a cable direct from the router (it's in the hall right outside my flat) into my flat, but that won't do much as the switch dock hasn't an ethernet connection port?

Another option he mentioned was a booster of some type. I have a friend who's a bit savvy with these things, I may bug him when he comes round to investigate!

@mudbuckr No worries, totally get what you're saying about being tired at the end of the day and needing to zone-out πŸ˜‰

@mudbuckr It's possible to connect your phone to the mobile hotspot of your phone if you have a mobile data package for connecting to the Internet.. It should give you a very stable connection. It's not a solution for long sessions as it would hammer your data but for an hour session of online racing on MK8D here or there when your parked up at the lay by, it's a good solution. An hour of online play would only use around 100mb of data, perhaps less.

Anyone up for some ARMs matches tonight? I'm in Central time zone, but I should be able to join game nights in GMT time every now and then as well. As far as multiplayer goes, I currently have ARMs and Rocket League, and I'm planning on picking up MK8 (again) and Fifa 18 this week (hoping they announce a World Cup mode soon!). I'm also likely be all over the Street Fighter collection and Mario Tennis Aces when released.

New to the forums, grew up on Nintendo games and have continued playing them over the years. Being recently married, my interest and playing time began to dwindle some... until the Switch came. Just what the doctor ordered!

@Meesh Welcome aboard. I've got all the games you mentioned and am up for some multiplayer when possible but not tonight. It isn't possible to play friends in FIFA 18 unfortunately, crazy. Really good version otherwise. I'm hoping for World Cup DLC too, hopefully we'll find out soon.

I'll send you a friend request.

@Meesh Warm welcome. Will send you an invite. Am grabbing a few matches of ROCKET LEAGUE tonight but up for ARMS or anything another time or if you see me online πŸ‘

EDIT: Now jumped into Turf War on SPLATOON 2. Anyone feel free to join in.

Just a heads up. The regular physical edition for Penny Punching Princess has been cancelled and is now only available in the UK as the collectors edition from the NISA Europe store.
So for anyone wanting this title physically, it might be time to place an order as there aren't many left. I just did.
https://store.nisaeurope.com/collections/frontpage-clean/prod...

Now depending on the cover of the game in other European regions, this one could be sought after in a couple of years. See, for games such as Dragon Blaze and Giggling Generations in Europe, there was something similar, where the English only cover version that was only released in the UK is much harder to come by then the multi language version released elsewhere in Europe. And thus if going for quite a bit of money now.
Naturally, I can't see into the future, but if the past is any indication and you wanted the game anyway, it might be better to act soon.

@meppi64 Curious what the gameplay of this game is?

@Lroy Me too actually.
It certainly seems like a weird one. Defeating enemies to earn money, then use that money in fight to buy special attacks, to defeat enemies and earn more money.
It has a certain simplicity to it that really speaks to me.

Bit of a cross between an old school arcade game with a dungeon crawler, a hack & slash and a calculator.

@meppi64 I'll need to see some video reviews and read a couple or two as well. Price seems very high Β£40-odd quid digitally?!

I had a strict Β£20 max spend price for digital pre-Switch. I have stuck to that thus far on Switch as well but could see myself upping it to Β£25 max for the right game. Otherwise, it must be a physical purchase. We all have our arcane ways.

EDIT: My wife and son have no such rule and promptly made me buy SPLATOON 2 and OCTO EXPANSION digital bundle for their new Switch as soon as they got it last week. Β£68 approx. Ouch! At least I now have my original SPLATOON 2 cartridge all to myself πŸ˜‰

@Lroy Hehe, well in the end money is only as good as the joy you get out of it, so that Splatoon purchase certainly was worth it.

I do agree that the price for Money Punching Princess is too high. Now there's a funny sentence.
That's the thing with Nippon Ichi though, they tend to bring over a lot of games that other publishers would never ever bother with because they are way too niche and just wouldn't make them enough money.
So they hike up the price, knowing fully well they will not sell tons of copies and try to make their money back that way.
A bit damned if you do, damned if you don't really.
But I've been burned a couple of times before with limited releases that I wanted but decided to wait on, and had to get for too much money later on.
Senran Kagura 2 on 3DS and Ar no Surge Plus on Vita come to mind.
So I'm a bit more eager to jump on something like this nowadays, even though it might end up not being worth much in a couple of months.
Then again, these limited releases seem to at least keep their original value somewhat, unless the game ends up being really bad or if it's a run of the mill western AAA game, which always loses a ton of value no matter what.

@meppi64 Sounds like the logic Thai's use. When business isn't going too well in bars they up the prices of the drinks to make up for the lost business. Even if it means making the prices more expensive than the bar next door which still has customers. Then the few remaining customers they have don't come back, they still stubbornly refuse to lower the prices and before you know it, a "Bar for Sale" sign goes up. I see it all the time. Can't get my head round that logic.

@OorWullie Yeah, it certainly is a very strange business tactic. Well absurd really.
Then again, in the videogame scene you have a certain collectors market which they might be banking on.
That's actually what's keeping the Vita alive till this very day.
Sure, not for the big AAA releases or companies, but for the smaller ones that are okay with 5-10000 units sold to make a profit. It's kinda fascinating in a way.
Just look at LRG and the various similar companies that have popped up with a similar business model.
East-Asia Soft, Super Rare Games, Signature Edition games and to a lesser extent NISA with their very niche B games.

Jumping on ROCKET LEAGUE for about an hour. Lunch break. Anyone fancy playing together? @oorwullie I see you πŸ˜‰

EDIT: If you're worried I'll pull down your rank, can we play against each other?
