Topic: Adult Switch Gamers

I also picked up Doom last week. Haven't tried the Multiplayer yet.

Would anyone be up for some ARMS, two hours or so from now? I know it's last minute and late for our UK crew, but just in case.

Excellent! I’ve been playing it for a few weeks and really enjoy both the single and the multiplayer modes. I’ve cleared 3 levels on single player and played up to level 30 something on multiplayer. The more I play the more I love it. I ditched playing COD WWII on PS4, as I find Doom much more compelling.

The multiplayer has a ton of team modes as well as free for all modes and works pretty very well. Lots of customization options and obviously tight corridor fighting.

I’m down to play this weekend or even Friday evening. When are you guys or gals available? Time and time zone, as I’m sure we’re all over the globe.

@Agent721 I played multiplayer a couple of times when I got the game back in November but haven't gone back to it for some reason. Maybe we can have a few matches over the weekend?

Sounds good! Hopefully we can get a group going, but if not hopefully we can hop in a game online together with the general public.

Kinda curious as to what time your wives/girlfriends put into gaming without you??

Was a little surprised how much time she has put into the Switch while im not around but I think shows how mainstream the Switch is becoming. Previously she only really played platformers and her only console was the Wii which she bought one or two games a year for. When I bought the WiiU she became a bit more open to gaming and now with Switch I see her really into it not just with me in multiplayer but as her own thing I see reading online, checking out trailers and telling me about ads for games she's excited for (Smash and Kirby) and it makes me think that yeah this could be a great Nintendo success story that brings a whole wave of casual gamers back from mobile.

My wife works a lot of hours and then looks after me and the kids, lol! But with her limited gaming time these days she pretty much plays SPLATOON 2's Salmon Run exclusively. She's put about 100 hrs into that mode across two Switch profiles.

We've also played plenty of SPLATOON 2 together, some MARIO KART 8 DELUXE, PUYO PUYO TETRIS and completed SUPER BOMBERMAN R, SNIPPER CLIPS and SKYLANDERS IMAGINATORS couch co-op.

My wife also plays the Switch with our son and has helped him to complete MARIO ODYSSEY, SPLATOON 2 etc.

Prior to the Switch my wife and I completed SUPER MARIO 3D WORLD in co-op on Wii U and have played through many more games together on that system. We played the Wii heavily together before that and we also had our own DS systems.

I can see a correlation between that Wii/DS euphoria and compulsion to play games and have fun in the Switch era albeit with more work commitments and two kids now here. We both have less time for the hobby than we'd like. But yes, the Switch really has brought the gaming bug back to my family.

I know that the switch doesn't have online voice chat build in. When everyone plays online do you voice chat using discord or another app?

Only speaking for myself, the games nights we've managed to organise on this thread so far, we've not got to the stage of organising Skype or Discord chat. Just getting a group of us together to play was the first big hurdle, lol!

Oh ok I was just curious. The other groups that I was with we use discord and that was a very good app for posting on and it has a voice chat channels build in that would be useful for the switch online games.

@Knownaslethal When playing with people from Nintendo Life I just have this board open on my tablet and I'll type a quick message between matches.

@mauhlin12 @Knownaslethal Feel free to suggest we do something with Discord or Skype. I'm happy to try it but likewise, happy to stick with just using this thread for occasional chat during game nights.

Idea is to be as inclusive as possible, so as long as the idea of voice-chat doesn't put some people off, should be cool.

I always forget that there's actually a chat room here on this site as well! (..if people would prefer that?)

I haven't used it much, but I do have a Discord account - so if we want to all convene on there on a games evening, I'm sure I could figure it out! ...I'll happily go with whatever people would prefer

@Agent721 I missed your reply, sorry about that. I'm in the UK still at the moment but will be back in Thailand by the first week of May. I'll be sitting up for a while tonight and can play some Doom, it's just gone 12am here.

I've been working.mad shifts the last couple of weeks so not been able to get online much but I'm well up for some Rocket League if there's another game going. I'm unusual in playing 1v1 almost exclusively so not sure how I'd go on in a team game but happy to give it a crack.
