@rallydefault of course, they could add new themes (art styles from different types of tracks we've seen in older games), objects, obstacles etc over time.
@CaleBoi25 I think you're right, it could almost be a guided journey, where you're taken through a "setup wizard", first you draw the circuit, then elevation (as you said), then objects and obstacles, the stands and other look and feel elements etc.
Not nearly as daunting on those platforms as I'm purely digital for both. Playstation for the ecosystem, because that's where my friends play. Xbox because I wanted to play Starfield at launch.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,555 games (as of March 31st, 2026)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)
@Magician Fair enough. I have a Switch, and play that with my friends. Outside of maybe AstroBot [edit: or those Ratchet and Crank games I think?] I see no need for me personally to get a non Nintendo system... (Also the $$$ haha)
Back on topic, I think Honey Queen getting a stage would be funny! I liked her being a racer, so having a Honeyhive Galaxy stage would be a nice callback.
I hope to see maybe another Zelda track this time inspired by TotK! I bet Nintendo could add some cool Sky Island gliding sequences to the track, making it really fun. They could add the battle between the Light Dragon and the Demon Dragon in the background. Some of the sky rocks could fall and be avoidable obstacles when driving on land.
Just dreaming though
@ThatZeldaNerd That would be sickkkk! Tho having a major spoiler like that battle may not be received so well, the falling rocks could be cool. Or what about a journey through the series: start in the Great Deku Tree from OoT [lap 1], fly up to Skyloft from SS, go down via Sky Islands from TotK [lap 2], and end with a trip thru Hyrule Castle Town (any version) and pull up to Hyrule Castle (any version) [lap 3].
@CaleBoi25 Ooooh I would love that! Similar to the four seasons Animal Crossing track in MK8DELUXE.
Imagine driving through Lost Woods to the Great Deku Tree and he kinda just opens his mouth and we drive down that would be hilariously cool

Yeah, please no Nintendo Kart or Mario Kart Ultimate. That would be the laziest, most uncreative way to follow up an entry that's basically been the standard for the last 11 years and in desperate need of a shakeup. Just saying "LOL let's throw in more tracks/characters" is not going to make this next entry feel like the fresh, next gen experience it needs to be. I also don't mind a few more guest characters from other franchises, but let's get some actual new gameplay mechanics, not just new courses and characters.
I also am not the biggest fan of the idea of an Nintendo Kart, simply because I think the game would then become “Let’s see how many references we can throw into a track” and the tracks themselves would suffer as a result. When you look at the crossover tracks we already have in 8 Deluxe, there’s the F-Zero Tracks and Excitebike Arena, which all work because the devs clearly had an idea they wanted to go for the track (randomly generated ramps in Arena, lots of boosts and coin refuel stations in the F-Zero tracks), but there’s also the Zelda and Animal Crossing tracks, which, while not bad (the Master Sword shortcut and the changing seasons gimmick are both great ideas respectively) a large chunk of both courses are very basic because the devs clearly didn’t need to do anything beyond just make a track in a popular Nintendo location for people to enjoy it, and in a game that has the best nitro selection to date bar maybe Wii with tracks like Mount Wario, Cloudtop Cruise, and Sunshine Airport, as well as the Tour team knowing how to make excellent tracks when not restricted by the city gimmick (not you Sky-High Sundae), I wouldn’t want reference tracks for the sake of them. Having a few a game makes them more special and more likely to be bangers imo. I wouldn’t mind a few more Nintendo characters, as long as there aren’t any significant cuts to the roster as it stands; having the Blue Falcon and 2 F-Zero tracks with no Captain Falcon seems wrong.

Yeah, people would expect the crossover stuff as standard because of 8 Deluxe, but I'd rather any crossovers follow the original 8 release for them. Coming as part of an expansion. Maybe two waves of content a year, with one of those waves being for crossover content.
Really hope they up the ante and do something risking with the franchise, its been long enough. granted MK8 did something new with the franchise, but its also been over 10 years ago with no newer games since. So yeah, up the ante and revolutionize the franchise again, and come back with a bang; the switch never got its own mario kart so i'm really hoping nintendo is ambitious about the next one.
And if its not too much to ask for, take notes from double dash and mkwii please. MK8 is ok and despite the innovations, it feels so watered down compared to wii and the original tracks in MK8 arent as enjoyable.
And bring back bikes and wheelies! i miss rosalina and daisy doing the splits
