@nomither6 YES I MISS DOING WHEELIES! As someone who only used Bikes in MKWii since I was 3, I can say that no wheelies is absolutely disappointing every time I play.
@CaleBoi25 3 years old!?!?! I mean, uh, yeah wheelies and bikes were the **** ! as long we ignore the flame running funky kongs that outclassed everyone.
@nomither6 Well, we had a Wii since right after I was born, and we have a pic of me playing it when I was 3 so I am going with that lol. Ironically, I am still awful to this day... XD Also don't you dare smear the name of my boi Funky! He was really good, but I played him because he was cool!!
Nah, coins are useful for unlocking characters and tracks. They could remove the coin item, but keep the coins. In fact, I want to see them adapt Tour's shop to Mario Kart (except obviously without the gacha elements) and just let you buy them instead of the dumb "unlock a random one after X number of coins" mechanics. That never made sense, but buying them with coins makes a lot of sense.
I wonder if the gimmick could be giving racers a, for lack of a better term, "Final Smash"? IE, as the race continues, you fill a meter. Hitting opponents adds to it, being hit deducts from it, and Coins now add to the meter along with your speed. The main downside is the Meta would go from "play this character for the best stats, but feel free to change it up" to "play this character for the best stats, and do NOT change to this one because his special move is awful." (Not that I care, I main Inkling Boy because I love Splatoon, with the Tanooki Kart, Button Wheels, and Standard Glider... because ✨️✨️esthetics✨️✨️)
I am curious, what are everyone's thoughts on crossover racers/tracks? I love that they are an option, but personally I am of the opinion that they should be somewhat limited (i.e. Maximum one course per series, and two racers per series.). That way it will still feel fun and exciting to race on them, because they are uncommon, but also have enough potential content to feel like a good addition rather than a random, last-second addition to the roster.
As I mentioned before, I believe there'll be more crossovers, but the game can't be Nintendo Kart simply because the vast majority of characters and tracks are Super Mario themed. A Mario Kart Ultimate also wouldn't jive because it'd be too lazy after Super Smash Bros. did it, so no one should worry about that.
Nintendo will come up with some kind of new driving mechanic, although I struggle to think what it could be. An idea about driving through the ground apparently went nowhere. It's much easier coming up with character and track ideas. One thing that I think can really shake things up is overhauling the use of items. Removing coins could also be considered.
If they introduce more non-Mario characters, they better bring in Callie, Marie, Pearl, Marina, Shiver, Frye and Big Man, even if it’s through DLC.
If they're doing more guest characters, it's not going to be more Splatoon characters. Inklings feel like enough, at best maybe add in Octolings and then call it a day for Splatoon. I think they would spread out to other IPs. Kirby, Samus, Captain Falcon, and Olimar would be more likely guest characters I think.
@MrCarlos46 As cool as that would be (I would be a Big Man main lol!) I really don't want the crossover characters to be a big thing. Maybe 1-2 reps per series? EG:
