Everyone was eagerly awaiting the full presentation of the new Nintendo console! There were patents for VR? What could that mean? And look Nintendo was still releasing new 3DS games.

Looking back, I really like how Nintendo introduced and promoted the Nintendo Switch.

It was pretty clear what the difference / benefits of the Nintendo Switch was compared to previous consoles.

The ads were really well done.

And the Switch didn't need to change at all from its original idea in order to be successful. Just shows you that it was well thought out.

Honestly I think the more interesting comparison would be October 2016. Because that's probably closer to where we are currently at in terms of the console cycle. And if you look at October 2016 it's.... NES Mini, Fast Racing Neo DLC, Amiibo, Pokemon Go. There's an article about My Nintendo rewards, an article about a rumour for a new Beyond Good and Evil for NX (wonderful), articles about Super Mario Run, Streetpass events in the UK.

Also interestingly there are multiple articles about the movements of Nintendo stock price. After the announcement there would be a trailer for NX, after the Switch trailer dropped. Apparently some things never change

Meh, the Switch was completely off my radar until around August of 2017 after seeing a portable version of Skyrim.
