I think the change in price will just make me favour and appreciate certain game types more , an RPG that's like 30 to 80 hours is easy worth the cash , a platformer or shooter with like 10 hours in well that's a hard sell
In my honest opinion if we the gamers would stop buying games at these ultra high prices it would force them to drop prices in order to
Sell there games. I know I wouldn’t buy
A game at $80.00 . Even the standard 50 or 60
Is cutting it close for me.

I learned my lesson, that new Nintendo games are not worth this much money. Low replayability factor for me, compared to their old stuff. The vibes are just off now. I will never replay Breath of the Wild, but Link's Awakening is a game worth replaying. It is the same with Echoes of Wisdom and Link to the Past.
Please excuse me everyone, for falling for the Switch 2. I will take responsibility and not purchase further Switch 2 games for these prices. And if Nintendo continues this way of greed, I will sell my Switch 2.
@rallydefault
Yes, I did everything aside the time trials. I put 60 hours into the game. This is also another reason, why I can judge Mario Kart Wold. Because I experienced pretty much everything it offers. I do not feel like returning. But I do not mind racing every track in Double Dash again.
@rallydefault
No, I do not think it was worth it. Double Dash cost me a lot less and by now I got easily more than 60 hours of playtime. And as I mentioned already, I will return to Double Dash. I do not want to return to World.
Really it comes down to how much does Nintendo think their brand value would decrease by putting their games on other systems. Can sell a record number of Switch and Switch 2 systems and it's a small percentage of the available gaming customers. Games are expensive to make and they have to make money. Look at how long Metroid Prime 4 has been in development. That would force many studios to shut down. Nintendo is like Apple, they think their closed structure and higher prices are better for them, though Nintendo is actually cheaper or the same cost as it's competitors on new products

If I can play a lot of hours that is certainly nice, but it is not that important. The important part is, that I love a game. World is good, I would rate it a 7, but I do not love it and I think the price feels like a scam. And since I do not love it , I do not really care about it and it is unlikely, that I will return to it, like I do with Double Dash or 8.
@Jhena
I agree that loving a game is very important to justify price, yes. I wish we lived in a world where we were guaranteed to love everything we purchased.

To be clear, we're talking about the price of the game here. The price of a piece of media. Not only that, one that you played for 60 hours into and played to completion. That game. And your complaint is that it was a "scam" because it doesn't quite live upto the standards of a game you paid less for, a game that released 22 years ago
By that logic I paid $85AU for a copy of Blur's Modern Life is Rubbish on Vinyl. Listened to it a fair amount to, really great album. However.... there was that one time years ago I found in a bargain bin a five album set of Weezer on CD and IIRC I only paid like $10 for it. Over 40x more expensive for Blur. Crazy. Clearly that Blur Record is just a scam at that price... right?
It doesn't really work like that. I've gone to the movies, listened to albums, read books, played games and sometimes it doesn't quite hit the spot. Doesn't mean it's a scam, just means it didn't quite gel with me. And other times? The media completely changes my perspective on things, opens up entirely new doors of interest, the works. And almost never is the price on the sticker the thing that determines when that happens. Some of my favourite albums of all time were bargain bin finds or ones I've only ever borrowed or streamed. Some of my favourite games of all time I got on sale or as part of a bundle
Now, would I say Mario Kart World is one of those life changing games? Maybe not. But I've certainly got worse "value" out of a lot of other games over the years. I only need to consider the games I have on Steam I got in a sale and have literally never played. I also have a copy of Metroid Other M I got for $10, cheap, but I never played it. Even within the Mario Kart series, Home Circuit cost more than World, especially considering World was bundled. And as cool and novel as Home Circuit was I don't think I got more out of it for the higher price. To be clear, I didn't consider Home Circuit a "scam" either but you get the idea
Honestly, I think the price of games has always been fairly high. And I do think it's worthwhile curating and moderating your purchases so that you're not burning money on stuff you don't enjoy. However, I would say by the time you've poured 60 hours into the game you've lost any right to say that it was a bad value.....
@skywake
As I already mentioned, to me it is not about the time I spent with the game. But if you think, that I have no right to say that it was bad value for me, feel free to think that way. I really tried to love it and play everything, which it has to offer.
I am glad to hear, that you do not feel scammed and I hope, that you will continue to make purchases to your liking.

I'd sooner pay less for games but if Mario Karts £75 and you got 60 hours of fun out of it that sounds pretty worth it to me, what else other than a video game would you get that kind of pound to hour ratio of fun with?
@kerr9000
If the amount of time you spend with a product, determines the value for you that is fine. It is your thing and I will not argue against it.
I spend more than 700 € on the Switch 2, plus games and accesories though, and as you can see in my comments, I am so much disappointed and desillusioned with Nintendo and modern gaming, that I am a retro gamer again. So even if I would see it like you, it would not have been good value for me. A disappointment is a disappointment.
