My only concerns now is related to how much RAM they reserved for the gamechat and OS, and finally whether or not games will be naturally hardware enhanced. When I see how these two things pan out, I'll be happy. Im very glad to see ports like Cyberpunk, but I want to see truly next gen exclusive cpu bound games like Monster Hunter Wilds on the thing to feel truly comfortable about its future proofing.

Similarly, I just want to hear Nintendo say most emulated games are naturally enhanced by the hardware in some way, even if they dont get into the weeds and tell us how.

But these are peripheral concerns as I am getting a Switch 2 either way and am extremely hyped just to have the possibility of modern games at a stable framerate on the go. I love my old switch but soooo many games don't perform well on it and so depending on how bad a port was may not be playable for me. So very excited to be at the cutting edge

Third party game sales. The rumors are stating RDR2 is coming. I think that is a test game. If it doesn’t sell well GTA VI is not happening. I’m getting cyberpunk day 1.

We will go through the another generation with either no Star Fox game, or they make one and it’s just another ***** remake of SF64

No, surely not.. they would be absolute imbeciles not cashing in on how much revenue a new Switch 2 Star Fox could generate for them.

As much as I would love to see another Star Fox game on Switch 2, the likelihood of this happening is very low. These games have never sold well, the only two breaking at least a million sales being the original and Star Fox 64. All others have been a failure sales-wise. So far as calling Nintendo "absolute imbeciles" for not producing new games in a series that doesn't sell is a bit harsh...

I’m kinda sick of hearing this excuse. Besides the fact that Adventures and 64 3D also sold well. I can’t defend Assault and Command underperforming, but Zero was doomed before it even got off the ground due to issues Nintendo should have had the foresight to avoid but were too stubborn. Time and time again people kept telling them the controls weren’t it, and should have had the option for regular controls, but never had. Couple that with the fact that it was a reimagining of Lylat Wars after they just remade the game on 3DS, and the fact they were set to just abandon the Wii U very soon, and the game basically had no chance.

I still think there’s a place for the series, but that starts with simply moving on from SF64, just give the series something new to talk about

@Megas75 I'm not making excuses for Nintendo, just stating the facts. And I would love to prove them wrong if they made a brand new Star Fox game for Switch 2 with all bells and whistles. Something fresh that would really get the series to the heights it deserves. The economic reality is what is holding this back. Maybe if Metroid Prime 4 sells well, they will have more confidence.

My only concern is how long it will take for the card producers to make a 2TB express card. I am not buying storage until that comes out so that will limit my purchases. Otherwise I am set. The switch announcements and switch 2 announcements have me set for at least 4 years worth of game purchases.

Aside from launch games (VF5, SF6 MKW) I will focus on Switch purchases. Got about 500 games left to buy.

Edit: I think there is some confusion about my post. I am referring to bringing the 2TB express card to market (only at 1TB currently) price has nothing to do with my concern. Editing for clarity.

@Ryu_Niiyama Given we don't have 2TB Micro SD cards at mass market yet...and Switch could support those from day 1, might be waiting a decade.

@Haruki_NLI I don’t understand what you mean. San disk has a 2TB microsd and a few other manufacturers as well.

Now if you are talking about pricing that isn’t what I am talking about. I am talking about simply bringing 2TB express to market. As soon as I get that announcement I will buy one. That should not take a decade since we are already at 1TB for express currently.

Just in case the confusion was due to my post, I will edit for clarity.

I'm a little worried about that as well. I'm doing something similar and only getting a small cheap card to start as I wait for 2 TB cards. The express cards will be great, but it's a little unfortunate we have to start with smaller sizes than were available for standard micro sd cards.

Side note, but Nintendo's faq page says 2TB is the largest size Switch 2 will accept but the micro sd standard itself allows for higher sizes. It will be interesting to see if Switch 2 eventually does an update to allow e.g. 4 TB cards. Some of these games are huge enough that people could probably fill larger sizes easily enough.

@rallydefault I suspect Ignatius was counting starfox 64 3D in with the original, but it did also pass a million (barely) on its own on.

I wonder what Nintendo thinks of the franchise; it hasn't done great for over 20 years but it at least did decently on 3DS. And doing poorly on Wii U barely counts.

Ill be happy if I can just purchase a 1tb card for under 100 bucks at some point. No way im paying the extravagant current prices

You know who could really deserve a spin-off game of their own? Deep Cut, especially considering they got shafted in Splatoon 3

Damn, who knew this one comment would end up predicting Splatoon Raiders and Deep Cut getting to appear in it

I think that’s definitely a primary concern is the cost of gaming this gen. There’s still a chance the price of Switch 2 go up…we all know it’s not coming down at this rate. Also Storage is now becoming a major issue on the Switch 2…Fortnite at a whopping 78 GB is insane. There’s always a compromise with 3rd parties on Nintendo consoles. The storage options are far from cheap at the moment.

@MrCarlos46
Hey that is a pretty good call! I keep forgetting about Splatoon Raiders the way they announced it out of nowhere. Interesting to see what it ends up becoming but it’s great to see them expand on the Splatoon universe
