As well all know, Nintendo is wanting to make sure there are plenty Switch 2 units for when it releases to avoid any scalping. I’m thinking they’ll limit preorders to one unit per order and require Nintendo Switch Online to preorder from the My Nintendo Store, kinda like Alarmo.
Other retailers could follow similar measures to prevent scalpers from taking the Switch 2’s before a customer can get the chance to buy one, like Walmart requiring Walmart+ to preorder a Switch 2.
How else could Nintendo setup Switch 2 preorders if they want to avoid any scalping?
I wasn't around for Switch1 at launch... how did that work? Any supply shortages or issues in pre-ordering?
Stores get stock, then sell out. Get stock, sell out. I guess it remains to be seen if they'll sell out in minutes, an hour, hours, or a day, or days. Even if stock may be robust for Switch 2, when preorders go live, I am aiming to get my preorder ASAP, to be on the safe side.
For switch launch, I preordered with Best Buy, got mine at a midnight release. I recall, stores kept selling out their switch stock for months.
Best Buy has a switch 2 notification page, if you want to give your email. Other stores may, too? I submitted my email over a week ago. I haven't gotten spammed. I don't know if my-having an existing best buy account may help prevent promotional emails? But if this gives me an edge, I'm glad to have done it.
Even if Nintendo and other retailers do implement the membership requirement on preorders for a few weeks before making them public, it probably won’t work in the long run as scalpers will make multiple accounts with different emails to buy many of the systems and scalp them.
It was already a mess for people trying to get a PS5 or Xbox Series X/S back during 2020 and 2021.
I just hope I can get one if they are 399.99 would be great but going to 450.00 or so that really kills the fun in gaming. And I like to use that money on some Switch 2 games as well to experience the DLSS.
I will have to take the following days to insure I can get to my retailers to make in-person preorders for one Switch 2 maybe another if my funds can survive that week.
@Akeratsu Not really an ID, maybe more of a membership like Nintendo Switch Online if it’s through the My Nintendo Store. Other retailers might implement something similar, but we’re not sure if that will work in the long run.
i just sold my playstation 5 (which i boughta year ago mainly to play spider man two, and not many exclusives i want are on there), so im saving that money so i can preorder the switch 2 right away. i hope it doesnt sell out quickly haha, gonna try to get it the time it goes live. preparing to sigh in frustration for a super laggy website 😌good luck for those pre ordering!

Take it with a grain of salt, it could be a scam. The website has a 499 euro pre-order price but in the finer print it claims this is just a deposit amount and when the official price is released and it's less you will have the difference refunded.
Back in 2017 I preordered Switch 1, I just searched for my Amazon confirmation mail and I got it around 4 hours after the Switch 1 presentation. I plan to preorder the Switch 2, so I'm assuming it will be available shortly after the Direct on Wednesday. I'm gonna go with Amazon again, so I'll just keep refreshing until it's available haha
@neo9eo yeah I agree with you. This site could be legitimate but I'm not taking my chances. I will just wait until they are available from a well known reputable site. And if I'm not one of the lucky ones to get a switch 2 right at launch, I'm ok with that as I still have plenty of switch 1 games on my to play list to keep me preoccupied in the meantime.
