They're presumably Switch 2 branded ones and they're being sold at GameStop. Of course they're expensive. They're also very, very high performance cards and currently they're super new so you're paying a premium there also. The prices will go down over time
My strategy here is going to be something like this. Early on? Buy more Switch 2 games on cartridge to conserve space, only get stuff digitally that's an endless game I expect to be playing for the life of the console. Eg Mario Kart 10? Digital. New 3D Mario? Cartridge. Then when the prices start to drop start getting more stuff digitally. When the internal storage is full? Drop for a 256GB card. When that's full get a 512GB card, then 1TB
I did the same thing with the Switch at launch starting with a 32GB card. I only got my 512GB card about a year ago
Any chance we’ll see different storage options for Switch 2 at launch similar to Wii U, like a 256GB model, a 512GB model, and possibly a 1TB model?
Not happening. And in any case allowing user expandable storage via microSD card is generally a more pro-consumer move. You won't use up all of the 256GB of storage on day 1. If you do it'll only be for Switch BC and if you need that much storage for Switch you already have a slower microSD card that'll serve Switch BC well enough. And presumably also a Switch
By the time you really need the larger card they'll be cheaper

@MrCarlos46 Another thing to say is that 400 CAD is close to 200 USD in exchange. Very cheap for a console that costs Nintendo a ton to make.
@skywake Also, that makes sense honestly. I'm mostly going to buy physical at first- unless it ends up being something like the next Animal Crossing (if I even get the next Animal Crossing).

I expect the Switch 2 to be priced within the $399-$499 range, but could be higher depending on how Trump chooses to implement tariffs once he’s president.
UPDATE: The guy admitted on the GTA forum that he made it up. I don’t have the like to the GTA forum post on that, but the My Nintendo News page regarding the leak updated it to mention that.
As expected. Why would it even come out on a Monday? Also the release timeframe from January to March is so short. My expectations for when the Switch 2 could come out are still set between late May and early June, but at this point I’d be fine with a September or November release.
@BrazillianCara Technically it isn't "soon." The only pattern gamefreak hasn't broken with this series (for better or for worse) is that every three years we get a new Generation of Pokemon. Gen 10 was going to be slated for this year regardless if they keep to the pattern.
The reason why I predict Gen 10 is this year has to do with the TCG trademarks. In Japan, the next set after the Black and White 151 set is "Mega Brave" and "Mega Symphonia." Given the titles of these sets, they'll probably focus on Mega Evolution- which means they're related to Z-A and probably releasing 1-2 months after Z-A releases (given past patterns on the TCG and the releases for those sets). Given we already know all the sets up until June of this year, this would place Mega Symphonia and Mega Brave as a release for July-August. Meaning that Z-A is going to release in May-July.
This is a weird slot for Pokemon generally speaking, as they usually strive for the November release slot in order to maximize Holiday sales. Given that Z-A is summer, this means that Gamefreak has something else planned for November (or else the game would be released in November).
Gen 10 is a high possibility of being teased for November 2025 in the next Pokemon Presents. There's usually this strange gap in the marketing cycles for Pokemon games where the next game in the series gets teased on Pokemon Day, and then we tend to hear nothing about it until August. If Z-A releases in May-July, then that means that the game will occupy that weird gap period that each generation has in its news cycle. Meaning there is a possibility that they will reveal both, but start advertising for Z-A as soon as Pokemon Day is over, while Gen 10 gets advertised after Z-A's release.
