Monster Hunter Rise + Sunbreak on sale for $9.99 on eShop. I got 800+ hrs in this game and expansion, and it remains, to this day, one of my favorite games of all time. This cost $100 at launch ($60 base game + $40 expansion). Don't let this gem pass you by for a tenner!
@DannyBoi
No idea. But probably no different than any other handheld. Should last many, many years and, it has a built-in optional battery protection function where it caps at 85% to ensure longevity.
As long as you keep that battery protection turned on, it shouldn't lose any significant capacity for the duration of use. And you can just turn it off whenever you need as much battery life as possible. Or, better yet, do what I did and grab the Genki portable magnetic battery.
The Genki battery comes with an adhesive magnetic ring to stick on the back of the NS2 so the portable magnetic battery can easily snap on and off, and comes with a short right angle USB-C to right angle USB-C cable. It's like $70-80 but lightweight (even with battery attached total weight is less than the OG Steamdeck out of the box) and increases playtime to 6+ hours.
Since you'll be using a carry case to take the NS2 with you when you leave, you can just slip the battery in there with it. I have a JSAUX case designed for SteamDeck that has a cubby below where the NS2 sits, Just large enough for a Charge Grip, USB-C charger, 5 ft. USB-C to USB-C cable, left and right mouse strap attachments, and the Genki portable magnetic battery with its short right angle USB-C cable.

We're here to talk about Nintendo at the end of the day, so I don't want to clog things up with anything more down this path; I'll just let my original post stand on its own.

@JaxonH Capcom's really going all in on Switch 2. Got 3 of their 4 heavy hitters for next year launching day and date in back to back to back months, plus RE VII and Village. Just need confirmation for Onimusha now.
Compulsion Games also announced that South of Midnight is coming to Switch 2 (and PS5) in Spring 2026.
February
Resident Evil Requiem March
Monster Hunter Stories 3 April
Pragmata
And as you said, Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village on the same exact day as Resident Evil Requiem. That's hat tricks in and of itself!
Honestly, there's not as much room for 3rd party to succeed on NS2 because of Nintendo's insane 1st party output, so they really only need the big players to support it with multiple top-shelf titles. Capcom, Square Enix and Microsoft alone could practically plug every gap between 1st party releases. There's so many others, but just having those 3 bringing title after title after title... that alone could carry the system alongside 1st party.

Monster Hunter Stories and Stories 2 both run 1080p locked 60fps on Switch 2. Phenomenal games, particularly Stories 2. Anyone who enjoys Pokemon... should be playing Monster Hunter Stories 2 at that price. Heck, drop $30 and get MH Rise + Sunbreak, MH Stories and MH Stories 2 and go hard.

For people in Europe, there is an amazing deal in the eshop for the Steamworld Essentials Collection, which includes all 6 Steamworld games for just 20 €. This is not just an amazing deal, its one of the best deals i have ever seen, and i own more than 200 digital games.
Both Steamworld Dig tittles are great Metroidvania games, especially 2, while both Steamworld Heist tittles are great SRPG games, and all the Steamworld games have really nice visuals and music!
Not sure who had the idea of creating a Split Fiction/It Takes Two-style game that stylistically resembles 80s anime, but god bless em. I really hope this is good, because the trailer was immediately arresting, and the best part of that otherwise dull TGA broadcast.
If you game in mouse mode or want to game in mouse mode without swapping back and forth into controller mode like I tend to do in Tomb Raider and Red Dead Redemption, there's a new 3D printed mouse accessory that pushes the face buttons way out to the side, making them so much easier to press as your thumb naturally rests on them. Perfect for say, Metroid Prime 4 where you wouldn't need to do all kinds of button remapping...
It's on Etsy btw.
@Ralizah
I thought the animation in that trailer was insanely well done, and it looks interesting, but after playing Split Fiction a bit it's hard to not judge every other co-op game by the standard it sets.
Probably won't get to play it anyways. It's hard enough playing Split Fiction with someone else. Used to be the whole idea of a game- entertainment when you have no one else. Wish these co-op games gave an AI CPU option for player 2. Wouldn't be as fun as with a real person but better than nothing.
edit
Also, this co-op game looks really interesting as well.

@JaxonH Yeah, this sort of game is pretty exclusionary in the sense that you really need to have someone you meet with regularly to play and enjoy it, which not everyone has in their lives, which is unfortunate.
I'm not expecting something Split Fiction-tier. To echo your sentiments elsewhere in this forum, I like to take games as they are rather than foisting expectations on them that they won't be able to live up to. Maybe they will and this'll be my GOTY or something, but I think it takes a LOT of talent to be able to make a game like Split Fiction as good as it is.

@Ralizah
So you've played Split Fiction? It's incredible isn't it? I can't believe it got snubbed at TGA last night. Not saying it deserved GotY but it should have at least won in one or more of the sub-categories. But again, when the voting panels aren't required to play all the nominees they're voting on, it just results in a popularity contest where the games more people played have the best chances of winning (which works to disadvantage co-op games, niche genres and exclusives- particularly Nintendo and Xbox exclusives save for Zelda/Mario/Halo).
To be fair, I myself seldom play every nominated game in most categories, so how I feel is biased also, but I've played enough games over the past few decades that, when I discover a gem that falls in the upper echelon of my experiences, I run the probabilities of the others being even better and form a conclusion. And in many categories, like Art Direction, you can just look and immediately form an opinion without playing.
I want to play the rest of Split Fiction but can never get my brother to play except once in a blue moon, and even here on this site most are uninterested, and it kills me because it's so freaking good.
Which is why it's hard to get excited for Orbitals and Out of Words knowing the cold hard truth is... I'm not gonna find anyone to play with. It is what it is.
But ya- once I realized many gamers set very specific expectations for what certain games should be according to them, it suddenly made sense why they get so angry over games which I think are fantastic. At first I'd be mind-boggled at how someone could play the same game I'm having a blast with, and come away from it ranting in a fit of rage. How? Are they just haters? Well, no. Some are, don't get me wrong. But in most cases it's a result of this mental paradigm where they have a preconceived expectation and any deviation angers them. Which I guess is fine, but I don't want to ever adopt such a mindset. I think it's a recipe for disappointment and very well could ruin the hobby for me.

@JaxonH Yeah, I played it to completion with my boyfriend earlier in the year on PC. Fantastic experience. Especially near the climax. It does feel like it got shafted a bit, but it's also up against pretty tough competition this year, so I'm not entirely sure I'd have voted for it in the categories it was in, either. Certainly not instead of Bananza.
That's the thing that sucks about being an adult gamer: you have more than enough money, typically, for the games you want, but there's so little time in the day once professional (job), personal (working out/self-care/bills/cleaning/cooking/etc.), and social (family, spouses, friends, etc.) obligations are met. Which is why I'm still only a few hours into the new Metroid Prime! 😂
When I have the time, though, if you're still looking to play Split Fiction, I wouldn't mind joining ya. 💪
This is one of the few years where I've actually played the GOTY winner. While I find the Expedition 33 glazing online to be a bit much, it is a pretty strong experience, and I hope you'll play it once it inevitably gets ported to the Switch 2.
I won't lie and say there hasn't been a scenario where an otherwise decent game hasn't disappointed me because it didn't match the expectations I had for it, but I do try to meet stuff where it's at, in general. I think that's just an important part of becoming a respectable adult overall. Although if you have a situation where a game differs too starkly from audience expectations, that does imply a disconnect that needs to be addressed.

I saw that offer to get other people to join you in that Split Fiction game a few days ago. From what I gather, you can do GameShare to get another person to play for free over the internet if they have a Switch 2 and download a specific free app on the eShop (called Friend's Pass, if I recall correctly).
Your offer piqued my interest, but I don't have a Switch 2 yet. And I'm not quite a legal adult yet (I will be in about a year and a half), and my parents can be a bit picky about how I communicate with other people online (just getting to create an account here was a challenge). I also haven't really looked into Discord yet either. But if I had a Switch 2, was already an adult, and (if you wanted to be able to converse while doing it) used Discord, then I'd gladly do it since the game looks interesting. If you're willing to wait a bit (by a bit I mean about a year and a half), then I'll gladly play with you when I have time (unless I die by then... which I'm hoping doesn't happen, since as far as I know I'm pretty healthy).
Also, I wish you luck with finding someone who's able to play with you sooner!

Right on. I'll probably have finished it by then, but the way things are looking we've got several more co-op games on the way, and I imagine the creator of Split Fiction will have a new game out in a couple years. I also never played It Takes Two beyond the first hour or so. That game is by the Split Fiction team and also has a friend's pass. It's a NS1 game so it's not as nice visually but aside from custscenes, it holds up pretty well. What's nice about Gamechat is you can use it for any game, even NS1 games.
@Ralizah
Oh nice. Ya I'll probably take you up on that, likely after I finish Metroid Prime 4. I'm almost done, but I'm kinda milking it cause I don't want it to end. Still... it can only stretch so far.
I desperately want to play E33, but ya know, I wasted countless thousands of dollars buying games on PS and PC only to then double dip once a hybrid version released, and finally decided to just hold off on all games until a NS2 version drops moving forward. Unless it's something I'm dying to play and reasonably confident it'll never get ported (MH Wilds is the only game I've bought outside the Nintendo ecosystem in the last 2 years). But I think it'll come- it practically has to. Though I'm not expecting it until late 2026 at the earliest.
DK Bonanza was a fire game. And tbh, so was Mario Kart World. It's not the "GotY" type, but for a Mario Kart experience I found it to be a breath of fresh air. I'm very selective about what I think works with an open world since it's so overdone nowadays, but I really do think Mario Kart needed it. And I'm glad to see them updating it and redesigning areas used for intermission courses. Hope that trend continues.

I was honestly considering getting a 1tb one when I did get a Switch 2 but I looked at the price for one and immediately decided "no, getting this now."
@kkslider5552000
I'm glad somebody took advantage of that deal. It was too good to pass up.
I got one for a Christmas gift for my brother. As far as he's concerned, it's a $100 memory card. Jus sayin!
