Topic: Next Nintendo Direct?

So likely Yoshi release date drop on Nintendo today in an hour or nothing for MAR10? Then a standalone direct for rhythm heaven within the next few weeks?

This is getting weird. I really hope big news is not being held for June.

Turns out today's announcement is the Wonder Switch 2 Edition overview trailer.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book release date is May 21st, 2026.

There we go, we have our May game which means there doesn't need to be a general Direct until June at the earliest.

Thank god the music's tolerable.

So my prediction for release dates of the other 3 are:

• Rhythm Heaven Groove - June 25th
• Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave - July 30th
• Splatoon Raiders - September 10th or 17th (depends on whether they want to do a Grand Fest re-run)

Man, people here still trying to convince themselves that there will be a major direct before June huh
Ever since 2017 Nintendo has only had 3 major directs each year (only exceptions are 2020 and 2025, try to guess why) and they're typically around the same time, first one is usually in February, the next one is in June and the last in September (again, usually)
Whether you like it or not the partner showcase in February does count as a first major presentation of the year, just like how it did in 2024, and I don't see the point of dropping a second major direct of the year earlier because anything that is coming out in May they can just announce on the Nintendo Today app (Edit: I was typing this before I saw that the new Yoshi game got a release date for May 21st, so this just proves my point)

Yep, June Direct confirmed. And that’s fine. I’ve got games to play. Switch 2 will keep selling and maybe take a slight dip if need be.

I’ll just hate that we still won’t know anything about Splatoon Raiders until a full year later. That “TBD” release memo bothers me. I’ve been tempted to worry about Raiders slipping into next year, but I’m resisting the best that I can.

Yeah pretty obvious we're not getting a general Direct until June, with individual announcements for Rhythm Heaven and Fire Emblem in the mean time.

Fine by me, I've got plenty to play with the 3rd party lineup and it looks like Pokopia has turned out to be a system seller anyways.

@Dev-N It's possible that Splatoon Raiders gets its own dedicated direct before a General direct. Kirby Air Riders got a full direct without having any gameplay shown off prior. It all just depends on when it's set to release.

That's a bummer, I was counting on a Direct early this year to give me something to look forward to on Switch 2. Besides Fire Emblem there's nothing for me so far.

My experience with Nintendo's new console has been lackluster so far: one game I really liked (MKW), one I had decent fun with (Bananza) and two good ports of older games (Cyberpunk and SF6). Kinda regretting my purchase for now...

Bleh, these next 3 months may be super dull depending on how good Yoshi is. The gameplay intrigues me, but I'm not sure it's worth $70 and that trailer really didn't show much more than the reveal trailer. I'm not yet convinced on this one, so I have nothing to play so far, and I think I am far from the only person in that regard.

We desperately need better games announced, this drip feed marketing of only talking about games coming in the next 1-3 months is extremely ineffective. When said lineup is niche titles that most of the fanbase won't buy, that doesn't really generate interest. Those titles tend to be niche for a reason that good marketing won't overcome. All you get is people ignoring Nintendo altogether as they fail to show anything interesting. They need to show off tentpoles, the major releases that have broad appeal. That's what moves the needle.

question, do you only play nintendo games? im not gonna go into my whole rant again, but now would be a good time to play stuff from elsewhere.. i almost feel bad for people who only rely on what nintendo puts out, but then again if you only have a switch 2 you could just find a bunch of switch 1 games cheap secondhand
