If the rumors are true, regarding dev kit availability being widened in December, I'd expect a lot of big third-party ports to be heading to the Switch 2 by the end of the year.

Some of the more demanding ones may take a while, however, for the optimization work.

Pretty lame if only a partner showcase. At least imo. Fire emblem, splatoon raiders and yoshi are all exciting and everything, but I need some Mario abs Zelda.

I had thought it would just be a Partner Showcase, though I'll admit I was just starting to come around to the possibility of a General Direct right before this news hit. A bit disappointing for me because none of the Nintendo games announced at present interest me at all. Oh well, here's my predictions for the Partner Showcase:

Newly Announced Ports:

  • Blue Prince
  • Sea of Thieves
  • Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (not coming out for a while though)
  • Red Dead Redemption 2
  • Monster Hunter Wilds
  • Call of Duty (idk the games in the series)
  • Either Planet Zoo, Planet Coaster 2, or Jurassic World Evolution 2: Complete Edition

Updates:

  • Orbitals
  • Monster Hunter Stories 3
  • The Adventures of Elliot
  • The Duskbloods (final announcement, no release date)

Blue Prince looks like it could be a relatively easy port, one that might happen sooner rather than later.

Some of those big AAA games are going to need a lot of work, though. I don't doubt that a lot of them are coming, given that the Switch 2 is going to be a pretty substantial market by the end of the year, but they won't be easy.

@UpsideDownRowlet Chillin' By The Fire - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Starcrossed TV had better come with Fire Notes compatibility, mouse controls, and 120FPS.

For me, as PS5 owner, Partners Direct is big disappointment. Another batch of old, long time ago finished games ported to Switch 2.

As a PC owner, I feel the same. I guess it's cool to see in the case that there could be exclusive titles- but for the most part I'm just going to buy what they show on PC. That's what I ended up doing with Octopath 0 when it was revealed last year.

Same. I'll buy anything multiplatform on Steam or GOG, so that in the future whenever I upgrade hardware, I get to enjoy improved settings, resolutions and performance without having to wait for and/or pay for the privilege. And I can mod games. And games cost less without the Switch tax generally, and if not, they go on sale far more often.

While I'm a PC player i'm happy for partner's direct since some games might be more fun on switch than Steam. Still waiting for digimon :v

I would love to see some Switch 2 Editions of games I already own...free ones ideally!!

I've been enjoying Hades I but that seems like a long shot when they're pushing the sequel although Team Cherry doesn't seem to mind. Overwatch 2 and Persona 5 Royal would also be cool to see properly enhanced.

I'm excited for the Partner Showcase because I use Switch 2 as both 1st and 3rd party console. What I do hope most though is a surge of true physicals to come out of this, so like theoretically if smaller carts are out in the wild which indie releases are suggesting there's absolutely no reason why The Adventures of Elliot shouldn't be a true physical.

@Nintoz This is why I'm hoping that the dev kit situation will sort itself out sooner than later. We'll get a lot of updates for Switch 1 titles that will hopefully add proper Switch 2 compatibility. Resolution increases and FPS unlocks.

Does the general Direct usually follow a partner one? I’m really only interested in first party Directs.

I'm gonna go against the hive mind on this one: I'm actually really excited about this.

Like I said a couple pages back, Nintendo does have a solid release schedule for their own stuff until late Spring/early Summer: Mario tennis, Yoshi, Mario Wonder S2, Pokopia, maybe Fire Emblem. Whether you like those games or not is on you at the end of the day, but objectively that's a solid lineup. (It's likely not my cup of tea, but my prediction is that Pokopia is going to be a runaway success.)

So if you're able to acknowledge that point (I know some of us never will lol), this Parter Showcase can have A LOT of interesting updates and reveals: Indiana Jones, Elden Ring, Borderlands, Duskbloods, Eliot, the next new Dragon Quest (likely not... but can dream lol), Call of Duty, Final Fantasy, maybe another platformer franchise from Sony (just imagine if they'd finally bring over stuff like Jak and Daxter, Sly Cooper... it would be insane), more stuff from Microsoft... the list is pretty exciting.

But yea, I'm probably just talking into the void here. Nintendo people will be Nintendo people. We whine about terrible third-party offerings, we finally get them, and then we whine about getting third-party offerings lol

@Don The shortest gap between a Partner Showcase and a general Direct in the past was 1.5 months (July 31st 2025 - September 12th 2025) though more commonly the gap is longer for example 4 months (February 21st 2024 - June 18th 2024).

I think the announcements in the Partner Showcase will be the big hint. If there's lots of big 3rd party games announced, the next general Direct is likely over the summer. They'll use MAR10 Day, random Nintendo Today drops and standalone Directs to reveal more info for the 1st party stuff arriving in Spring/Summer.

But if the Partner Showcase is more focused on already announced stuff and Switch 1 games like the July 2025 one, they'll probably do a general Direct in March/April.

OmnitronVariant

Has a partner showcase been confirmed? You're all talking like the rumor — which is all I've seen — is fact.

CaptainQuo

If this really is a Partner showcase, I'm a bit baffled why everyone is whining about it. Some of the rumoured announcements include Metaphor & Clair Obscure.

Is good 3rd party support not what we want? It shows that they will support the console. It's not like a new Mario or Zelda aren't coming eventually. Just in time for Xmas maybe which would be the smart move.

Also just really excited for a new Fire Emblem.

Enriesto

@CaptainQuo I think the complaining or lack of excitement would come from those who are fans of PS/XBX/PC in addition to Nintendo. It’s admittedly a milder wind in the sails of anticipation if you’ve already played games like Metaphor and E33 elsewhere, along with the fact that games like RE9 are of course already releasing on the same day for more powerful consoles.

That said, I’m not quite one of them - I’d love to dip in again for Metaphor on S2, and am so intrigued by Duskbloods as a massive FromSoft fan. And like you, stoked for Fire Emblem, we will hear more soon. I’m happy to wait a bit on first party announcements.

Enriesto

CaptainQuo

@Enriesto I mean, I also have a PC in addition to my Switch, but I cannot upgrade it to Windows 11. I'm not buying a whole new PC to play Clair Obscure.

If they have other consoles then they should be happy to be able to afford that during a global cost of living crisis and have access to so many exclusives.

Nintendo have plenty of offerings already, and its not like we won't get more announced just because the next direct might be a partner one. I think some people are just a bit spoiled and entitled.

CaptainQuo

CJD87

In the wake of Arc Raiders, I've become more and more 'cautiously optimistic' regarding Duskbloods.

AR shows that PvPvE can land well critically and with players, not to mention that FromSoft have a fairly solid track record in pretty much everything they put out.
