@TheBigBlue Hopefully this means we're getting an actual remake and not just the horrible remaster we got.

@Ulysses Ehhh... given that FF7 Remake isn't a remake, I don't want a remake like it. I just want the same game that I loved but with upgraded visuals and an orchestrated OST. That's my main gripe about the Twilight Princess remaster. The fact that the game only got a texture overhaul.

A real remake of Twilight Princess deserves to have an orchestrated OST, new animations, and way better visuals with models that are up to modern standards. Basically like how Ocarina of Time 3D did for the original Ocarina of Time.

@VoidofLight I was meaning in the sense of you could call it MH World 2, that naming doesn't necessarily mean it follows the plot of the previous game. Sequel wasn't the best term to use but that's what came to mind at the time.

@TheBigBlue There were those WWHD/TPHD double pack rumours back in 2022. If there was any truth to them, it could've been delayed and then doesn't make sense to release in 2023 because TotK. Zelda's usually 2nd half of the year which would point to the June Direct if real.

@Novamii I prefer Zelda games with a slightly more realistic style as well. I love Wind Waker's art style. BotW can look good at times- but I really do not like BotW's style. Mostly in terms of how the races are designed in the game. Gorons look off to me, and the children characters have giant heads for some reason. Just doesn't hit with me as much as other Zelda titles.

Visuals don't bother me in general for Zelda games...I think I like all the styles. If anything, maybe Twilight Princess is more on the "meh" side.

@Joeynator3000 this really reliable Twitter person, Midori I think their name is? Knows tons of stuff and said recently that they are confused as to why Twilight Princess hasn’t released for switch yet. Could be that the game exists and Nintendo is just waiting to release it at a good timeframe that fits their schedule, but I dunno.

We do know Nintendo sometimes makes games and sits on them. I would be willing to bet Nintendo World Championship NES was just something they had on the shelf for who knows how long and shoved it into this year since July was empty. For that matter, Metroid Prime 2/3 could have been finished a year ago and are just waiting.

@Joeynator3000 Honestly Twilight Princess is my favorite in terms of general art style. So many interesting character designs and I liked seeing a Zelda game with a darker style. The only game that bothers me style-wise is TotK/BotW, and even then it isn't everything in those games. I really like how they depict Ganondorf in TotK, but I hate how the Gorons look entirely.

With rumors swirling around Next Level games working on a remaster, has anyone thought we might be getting a Metroid Prime: Federation Force remaster, especially since they developed the original one?

I never thought I'd say this, but I think we just need to let the older 3D Zeldas alone. We don't need to remake everything.

Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Ocarina - they're all fantastic games, and honestly, they hold up really well, even when you're not playing the HD versions on 3DS and Wii U. Gameplay is still solid, graphics even for Ocarina on NSO are still good. We need to stop beating the dead horse.

I'd rather a brand-new Zelda game, even a small spinoff.

Wholesome Direct 2024 will be on 8 June 2024. 😊
I will watch the Direct to scoop out the cute / cozy games I can consider to play on console version.

I highly disagree. Ocarina and Majora have issues with FPS that make them hard to play. Wind Waker is good enough as is, since it needed barely any visual touch-ups and has QoL features in it's remaster. Twilight Princess though? That game needs a full on Remake. The original aged poorly given the visual style- and the HD version doesn't really do anything to help that, other than redrawing textures. They didn't do anything QoL-wise, and the music is made to be orchestrated- yet still uses midi.

If anything, I'd argue that Twilight Princess outright needs a proper remake done from the ground up like how The Thousand Year Door just got. That has re-orchestrated music and redone visuals, with the animations being touched up to prevent the weird shakiness that the original game's animations had.

@rallydefault
I agree for the N64 titles somewhat because they're on NSO. But the GC titles aren't available on any current platforms and have never been on a portable system. If they were to put GC on NSO? Sure. But we don't so the only way to play these games is either through emulation or on old hardware

Plus Metroid Prime and TTYD have shown how far titles from that era can be pushed graphically. Surely the crown jewels in the GC library deserve the same treatment

@TheBigBlue I thought the Tuesday directs tend to be not-general-directs.There certainly hasn't been a Tuesday general direct recently. If it is that soon, I would expect Pyoro to chime in this week though so I guess we'll see.

@FishyS I feel like Directs were on Tuesdays during E3 when the last day of the event was Tuesday, when Wednesday/Thursday weren’t really an option.

I didn’t really care about Nintendo Directs that much until a few years ago, so I can’t for sure confirm that it was always on a Tuesday. But E3 was the last time I remember a normal Direct being on a Tuesday

@FishyS Tuesday was the E3 slot. If E3 2024 existed, the Direct would've been June 11th at 5pm UK time.

If it was to happen then even though E3 is dead, I'd get the impression it has something to do with Xbox.

@IceClimbers There's 2 things that come to mind:

  • Xbox used the Partner Showcase to announce their multiplatform plans back in February, if their strategy is still just select titles they may do the same thing (announce stuff for Xbox in the Xbox showcase and then the multiplatform stuff in the Direct)
  • Back in 2022/2023 during June, Xbox embargoed 3rd parties from announcing PS/Switch versions of certain multiplatform releases for a certain amount of time after the announcement of PC/Xbox versions (e.g. anything by Atlus). If the Xbox multiplatform strategy is pretty much everything can happen, they likely wouldn't bother with embargoes of 3rd party games and so a Direct can be close by with those 3rd party games

In the latter case, the Xbox 1st party games may still be announced for Switch in the Direct rather than the Xbox showcase.

IceClimbers

@Grumblevolcano Just because they announced Grounded and Pentiment through the Partner Showcase doesn't mean they'll use Nintendo Directs for everything, especially when there's a high probability that none of the 1st party games shown in the Xbox Showcase are coming to the current Switch.

Most likely they'll just reveal the games as titles from their 1st party studios without any mention of exclusivity while at the same time not mention PlayStation or Nintendo in the Showcase, even for Black Ops 6. Then in the press releases and social media posts is where additional platforms outside of Xbox/PC will be confirmed.

We'll have to wait for Switch 2 to be revealed before the Nintendo versions are revealed.
