This probably isn't substantial enough for a Direct, but we are due for a Smash Ultimate patch this week to add support for Sora's amiibo. If they mention that and potential balance changes alongside a Smash 64 NSO announcement, which is plausible given its recent 25th anniversary, conspicuous absence from the service, and current lack of N64 games on the horizon, it could maybe lend credence to the idea whatever's likely airing this week isn't just a Partner Showcase. Granted, we also have DLC releasing in 10 days for Splatoon 3, and they have yet to explain what it really is, in addition to there being a lack of information on TTYD (which does have some kind of new content, given the new unique Toad NPC in Glitzville), a lack of releases dated after Princess Peach: Showtime, a lack of NSO games on the horizon (which Smash 64 could address), a lack of a release date for Luigi's Mansion 2 HD, and even some evidence that Metroid Prime 4's reveal trailer is either in the works or completed. I think there's enough reason to think the Direct may be a Mini, but won't be without any Nintendo announcements. Unless they play fast and loose with the idea of a Partner Showcase, considering Part Time UFO is published by Nintendo, yet was shadowdropped in one iirc
@Nintoz@FishyS Were all the cryptic hints in the past for 1st party though? Outside of 3rd party games using 1st party IP (e.g. Sparks of Hope, Cadence of Hyrule, Three Hopes), Partner Showcases don't feature 1st party stuff.
Joking aside, you can read this in a number of ways:
It's a Partner Showcase
He's being silly and there are second-party announcements he is aware of, like the rumored Fire Emblem 4 remake (totally not copium)
Unlike other leakers, Pyoro appears to have some kind of backend access to Nintendo uploads? Which may not necessarily be the case, but it's possible they've tightened things up for Directs, or the Direct is going to be a Mini that drops on YouTube without being livestreamed while still featuring first party stuff
For whatever reason Pyoro just doesn't know stuff yet, which is unlikely considering how early he discussed reveals from the last Direct
I'm still in the camp that all we're getting this month is Pokemon. I just get a feeling Nintendo is waiting until March with a system reveal before revealing any other big titles. Who knows though, maybe they'll end up surprise dropping a one last Switch direct as a normal video.
Hmm yeah it’s certainly possible that they’ve cracked down on Pyoro and cut off their source. The last time there was a leaker who gave this much accurate info (I believe the screen name was Sabi or something like that?) Nintendo tracked em down, got their full name and address, and filed a cease and desist.
I’m wondering if Pyoro somehow lost access to his sources or if he just doesn’t know anything yet. Hope there’s some kind of announcement in the morning or on Wednesday
Honestly, I wouldn't take the gif as a hint. Could just be them saluting if there ends up not being anything.
That was a metal gear solid gif literally right before metal gear solid was in the June direct. So seems very unlikely that wasn't a leak. Especially since all their other leaks were insanely accurate for that direct (such as Mario game with wonder + elephants + flowers). They really like mildly cryptic hints which are very clear in retrospect.
The point is they have mainly leaked first party games, but there are apparently exceptions.
The fact Nintendo casually dropped the trailer for Side Order makes the whole partner direct rumour seem most likely the plan for Nintendo. And that starts to make the rumours of a March reveal for the Switch 2 look more promising too.

@FragRed It feels like Switch 2 reveal will be a mixed Switch 1/Switch 2 general Direct. Nintendo's being very cautious not to reveal specifics about what's beyond February (TTYD and LM2 don't have release dates). Fresh Season does start on March 1st but the update goes live in February which leaves just Princess Peach Showtime as the main post-February thing of which there's likely still more transformations to be revealed.
Regarding NSO, February will likely be clearing up the remnants of the February 2023 Direct (F-Zero Maximum Velocity and a NES/SNES/GB/GBC wave which features Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru for Japan).
Sorry guys...
I'm in a hospital, so I had no chance of answering any questions regarding "Is Nate Pyoro?" I'm following the Spawnwave Network and the amounts of jokes they did around the lines of "Nate, who is definetly not Pyoro *wink" paired with, that Nate is part of that Network and a friend of MVG, RGT, John from Spawnwave and so on, makes me believe that he IS Pyoro.
Do I have evidence beyond that? No...
I am pretty sure that Switch 2 will be revealed in a few weeks and it won't be mixed with content about Switch 1.
@Grumblevolcano That’s kinda how Switch was at the start wasn’t it? Mixed Switch/3DS Directs. Can see Nintendo showcasing new games that are coming to either both or exclusive to Switch 2 but all in same Direct as you said. It makes sense.

@Grumblevolcano Nintendo will want to highlight their new system as much as possible and seperate it from the current Switch model and while I do think we'll see a sort of 'hybrid' Direct in the future (like with 3DS/Switch), I think they'll want to do a big standalone presentation for the Switch 2 whether that be in-person (like in January 2017) or in a Direct-style format
@FragRed Post-launch yes, pre-launch the only Direct that mixed the 2 was the Fire Emblem Direct (Shadows of Valentia for 3DS, Warriors for Switch/3DS, announcement that brand new game was coming to Switch, Heroes for mobile).
Partner fits. It’s very possible Nintendo has already announced everything that’s gonna be on the switch, and if that whole “reveal trailer for the new console in March” thing is real, then the partner is basically cleaning up the last bit of switch specific games. Hell, maybe even hi fi rush could appear but I’m a skeptic on the whole Xbox thing (once people started saying halo was gonna be on ps5 and they were pulling a Sega, I knew it was all a scam). But yeah, the last partner direct was absolutely killer so I’m down for another actually
Oh yeah and they could announce a TTYD release date anytime they wanted, a whole direct isn’t necessary
I saw a tweet in an article from Stealth who seems to think that it will be announced tomorrow if it’s a normal Direct, or there will be some kind of “shadow-dropped direct” on Thursday if it’s a partner. At this stage for me, the exact format doesn’t matter much, as long as we get some update on ports/remasters like Luigi and TTYD. I’m not expecting major surprises in their next show, and that’s okay, the big guns will be revealed later.
