Topic: Next Nintendo Direct?

@Euler Pikmin 3 got ported over from Wii U in 2020 it's like the others about old game coming over before new game in the same franchise releases.

@Grumblevolcano The rumour about GameCube games coming to NSO is interesting, the speculation is it would be games they don't want to remaster/remake etc...if true, surely Pikmin 1 and 2 would fall into that category?

Just rewatched the Direct in the background while working, and I have to say, it was better than I even remembered from just how long ago it was. I forgot about the Rain Code game which looks really cool (although I've still never played Danganronpa, so I'll want to get that first). Also somehow, maybe because they didn't really show anything, I keep forgetting that Pikmin 4 was in there! That alone makes it awesome. Plus I didn't notice the first time, but is that a green Pikmin on Miyamoto's shirt? Or just a shadowy one? Because there has never been green Pikmin before, has there? Either way, too much to look forward to for someone who hasn't even started Xenoblade 2 yet.

Now that I've calmed down after Tears of the Kingdom and Return to Dreamland Deluxe, I can say for sure that September's direct was definitely very... not good.

The Mario Movie still hasn't received at the very least a SINGLE SCREENSHOT, and I feel like the time Miyamoto took to give people the run-down of an app that literally came out nearly a year ago was meant to be taken up by a trailer for said movie. This movie must be giant if it's been 2 years and they still have nothing to show. If we don't get a trailer by December, I'm gonna give up hope.

I'm also shocked that Sonic Frontiers only appeared in the Japan version of the direct. It's probably because they were literally going to post a trailer a day later but it's still kind of odd.

Overall, 5/10. Hopefully the next one has less Farming Simulators and a LOT less Square Enix.

Meh, I’m not keen on the idea of using video game marketing to market a movie. It’s a different medium and after the last time they handled the Mario movie news in a direct I’d rather they let people who know how to market a movie do it as it was pretty shoddy.

I think the Mario movie trailer will be uploaded online one day at least 6 months before release. We might see some toy leaks soon if rumours are true.

@Z-Core, movie trailers in general don't come this far out from release. Just recently off the top of my head, Black Adam just got it's first trailer out over the summer, within 6 months of it's release this October.

More telling, Avatar: the Way of Water, a movie that's been in development for over 10 years & is the sequel to the highest grossing film of all time, got it's first ever trailer this May, about 7 months before it's December premier.

Movies in general don't get trailers 1 or 2 years out like games regularly do. It's completely normal for there to be no Mario movie trailer yet.

I'd imagine the Game Awards would be a fitting reveal setting for the Mario movie. There's even a new award category this year (Best Adaptation) to do with game movies, TV shows, etc.

@jump Agreed. I was hoping the movie trailer wouldn't drop, since directs are moreso meant for games, not a 3 minute movie trailer.

Let’s try to be optimistic. If there’s still no trailer, there’s always a possibility the movie was cancelled.

@Euler It's most likely not cancelled, since Miyamoto confirmed it was still going to happen. We'll probably just get a trailer drop sometime later this year.

@VoidofLight and maybe toy leaks before that, if we are lucky. I'm going off what happened with the Sonic movie (and a few other movies) and just general knowledge about when they make merchandise for TV & Movies.

Please, no movie trailers in a Nintendo Direct.

The Mario movie cast announcement in the Sep 2021 Direct was funny because of the idea of Chris Pratt, Jack Black, and Seth Rogan voicing characters in an animated Mario movie, but other than that, I don't care for movie news in a video game marketing showcase.

Nothing about Mario movie OR universal's Nintendo theme park expansion.

I’d like Nintendo to announced Nintendo Switch 2 with a better looking UI on October 2022 Nintendo Direct.

Just play the games without complaining about Switch U/I !
Nintendo will not make the U/I like 3DS or Wii U anymore.
At least it looked similar as PS4 U/I, easy to navigate.

That last Direct was such a let down wasn't it, RPG and Farming games.
Best thing about it was the N64 games and they are behind a paywall.

Hopefully they've got big plans for the console next year cause it's certainly lacking something new and exciting.
