Topic: Next Nintendo Direct?

Microsoft has an indie event on Wednesday (September 14th) which would clash with the general Direct slot:

But would nintendo be concerned of an indie showcase by Microsoft?

@NintendoByNature Events are purposely set not to overlap with others like how we knew we weren't getting a Direct on the Tuesday of "not-E3 week" because Microsoft had Xbox Games Showcase Extended (deeper dive into some of the announcements in the main showcase) at that time.

Thursday's probably out of the question too given how insanely packed that day is (several TGS showcases and a "future of CoD" event).

Maybe as an exception for September, Nintendo picks Tuesday or it turns out Tuesday ends up being an Indie World? (it kind of looks bad on Nintendo if everyone's doing indie stuff but not Nintendo)

has you not considered Nintendo could do two Nintendo Direct this month, the tradicional septembre Nintendo Direct and a dedicated for Bayonetta 3.

@StarPoint When we don't even have a date for it, it's a much easier pill to swallow if you ask me (and to be fair: can you blame them for delaying it when something like this has happened?). A similar thing happened a long time ago back in 2018 with the September Direct that revealed Luigi's Mansion 3, Animal Crossing Switch, etc. where there was a devastating earthquake in Japan a day or two before it was about to air and they delayed it out of respect to the victims of said disaster. It's honestly very appreciated when they choose to disrupt their own news schedule so that they can allow people to pay respects when such tragic things happen, very classy.

@StarPoint This is a joke. Nintendo wouldn’t delay a Direct because of he death of the monarch.

It'll be obvious if the rumour is true because a load of 3rd parties will leak their own announcements from the Direct. That's what happened in September 2018, the Direct was delayed a week but 3rd party announcements like Civilization VI, Mega Man 11 demo and some of the Final Fantasy announcements got revealed by the 3rd parties themselves around the time of the originally planned Direct.

BBC news said the funeral will be in 10 days, if the rumours are true and the direct is mid week next week then there wouldn't be a clash, assuming it's true that Nintendo would postpone.

Maybe if the Direct was going to be on the day of the funeral they would delay, but I see no reason to not continue if it is next week.

"Unannounced Nintendo Direct will be internally delayed due to the death of the Queen" sounds like something I would read from a Mad-Labs parody.

Don't forget that Mario Kart Tour has a London track (London Loop) so if that was to appear in MK8 Deluxe DLC wave 3, a general Direct in the very near future has the potential to look bad.

@Grumblevolcano We just got Wave 2, very unlikely that Wave 3 will get announced this month even if it's a few months away from release

@PikaPhantom I disagree, 1 of the big aims of the next general Direct would likely be to try and convince people to subscribe to the NSO Expansion Pack especially as some people are coming up for renewal soon. So if there's something happening for the Expansion Pack later this year I'm sure Nintendo will announce it in the Direct whether wave 3 DLC, new console(s) added, new DLC added, another legacy DLC added, highly anticipated N64 game, etc.

Also the waves can't be purchased separately so nothing is lost from uneven gaps between wave announcements.

I still haven't purchased the expansion pass, and nothing Nintendo will end up doing will make me do so, unless they just get rid of the original online pass.

Booster Course Pass Wave 3 will very likely be announced 1 week or less before launch just like the previous two waves. My guess is that it will launch in November/December.

@westman98 Wave 1 was announced 5 and a half weeks before launch (announcement on February 9th in the Direct, release on March 18th). I think the only reason wave 2 was announced so close to launch was because E3 was cancelled.

You're right, I misremembered Wave 1 being announced at the Feb 2022 Direct itself.

Still, I don't think Wave 3 is releasing this month or October, so I don't expect it to be announced at this months Direct (assuming it is happening).
