Phew, played a little more than usual today. 2,5 hours playtime and 186 P-Switches.

@Dev-N, you won with green shells? Talk about lucky! I don't know if that has ever happened to me before, maybe with red shells. Also about you playing online, I've played online Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for 8-10-ish hours (I've spent a lot more time on offline) and I've got first place in, like, four races 😦... point is, I suck at online racing and still love it, except when my points number goes down. That kinda sucks. Congrats on the win!

Shortcat posted a video a couple hours ago about fans "fixing" MKW worldwides. Actually, the Mario Kart World Discord has a channel where people can set up rooms for anyone to join. This allows you to vote for any track you like, without being forced to play 80% intermissions. More than 600 people have joined the server since this video was posted, and I saw many rooms running at once.

Here's the video: https://youtu.be/eLIt4s7NKM0?si=ObAXjSk36Ewje0IJ. There's an invite link to the Mario Kart World Discord server in the video's description.

I accidentally unfollowed this Thread lol, but I am curious, how much time are yall spending in Free Roam? I want to complain that it is empty and there is nothing to do... But at least 85% of my playtime has been spent there, so clearly it has something to offer haha! I am havhng a blast just getting Peach Medallions!

Yep, it is empty and there is nothing to do, but here I am with 212 finished P-Switch challenges. Free Roam is the only mode I am playing now. Not worth the money, but I am having fun.

I’m almost at 200 switches. I actually really like the free roam, it’s super relaxing and some of the missions are genuinely neat.

Anyway, anybody have any tips for getting fishbones? He’s the only character I still need to unlock, and I keep running the route between burnout and toads factory, but nobody is getting a kamek to transform us. Argh

@rallydefault 200 switches is impressive wow!!!! i need to spend more time in free roam. i think the game maybe unlocks the characters slowly no matter how many times you race so that you spend more time on the game? i got fishbone, but i can NOT get tocky wrench somehow. its lwk a frustrating system, i wouldve prefered them to be unlockables in free roam but thats ok!!!

246 P-Switches. I am having a really nice time with World. It is just relaxing and it has a pleasant atmosphere with beautiful visuals.

@CaleBoi25, if I got a Switch 2 and Mario Kart World, that is what I'd be doing with Free Roam a lot, because I don't know if I'd bother with many of the P-Switch missions. Time limit missions always stress me out in games. Just driving around without a care in the world (or needing to pay expensive gas prices) does sound like a heck of a lot of fun though! 😃

That is definitely a good approach to play the game, too.

I'm enjoying free roam too, more than I thought!!

I wonder if there's a correlation between people who enjoy Animal Crossing and people who enjoy this mode.
And vice versa: I would assume the 'thrill-seekers' of the Mario Kart community might not enjoy this mode as much.

I've only done a few dozen P-Switches and am really enjoying their range in difficulty and objectives. The way I've been tackling is doing one track's "area" at a time (pretty much in the order they appear in the Grand Prix), I'm not trying to get everything on my first visit, otherwise I'll feel like I'm stuck in a single place forever.
So I'll do a bit, move on, do a bit, move on etc. and then I'll eventually go over it again a bit like painting a wall.

Yea, Free Roam is just so chill. It's really nice.

296 P-Switches done. This is it, the final stretch, less than 100 remaining. Today I was abducting cows and one Toad with a UFO. I love wild surprises.

You're gonna do it!

I'm almost finished Cyberpunk, so I'll be back to more P Switches soon. I think I'll get them all by the end of the year just going popping in from time to time.

Nep-Nep-Freak

Over 300 P-Switches? Holy heck, that's more than I expected! Well, they are short time limit missions, so I suppose that only makes sense.

Thanks! Yeah, take all the time you need. The reason why I am hurrying is, because I want to be done with World, when Bananza is released. Well hurrying might be an exaggeration, since I am just playing around two, instead of one hour a day.

@ShieldHero
Yep, they are short, and I would say ,that most of them are easy and many can be finished on the first try.

@Jhena, really? They're pretty easy? Some of the ones that were shown on the Nintendo Today app looked kind of difficult, though maybe this is an example of the "what's easy to you may not be easy to me" phenomenon. If they're mostly easy, though, that is absolutely great news. I'm still undecided about Mario Kart World, and the Switch 2 in general. Mario Kart World because of the time limit missions and Kamek being demoted to an annoying item, and the Switch 2 for other reasons. Though Mario Kart World is a mostly fun game from what I've seen in videos!

From my personal experience, if the challenge does not involve wall grinding or any other form of grinding, it is mostly very doable. I think my skill level is quite average.

I just had a random thought about MKW, feel like this is the best place to share it *and I am not sure if this has been brought up here before, haven't read the entire thread. While I hope that the majority, if not every addition is free (or free for NSO members) - if there is a paid option...what if Nintendo included new content with the purchase of a new game? New courses, costumes, etc included at no additional cost if you buy the game it is based on? This could promote Nintendo's new games, encourage more sales of the game, and also provide people with a paid option of the expansion if they do not buy the game it is based on.
Probably a pipe dream, just thought it would be a neat way to expand on the world addition. Sure, there's a paid DLC option...or when you fire up DKB on your Switch, you now have additional content in MKW. I could see this approach increasing adoption of new games...and it would be a neat way to keep MKW top of mind. Naive take on my part, sure, but fun to think about.
