@rallydefault That is interesting. Like how you deliberately messed up a few times to see how that changed things.

Since 3 starred the second cup and 1 starred the third (blue shelled). Always used items, stayed to racing line but no tricks. Seems to be the sweet spot with the AI.

Anyway, having great fun with the game and interesting finding all the qwerks here and there.

Beat a few 100ccm cups today. It is starting to get more challenging but also much more fun and rewarding. A great Mario Kart so far.

I'm very suspicious of the fact that Donkey Kong and Pauline only have one costume.

Watch, they'll add free costumes in a future update to celebrate Bananza's launch.

@Dev-N lol I've been playing through various Cups puzzled as to why I wasn't unlocking more outfits for Pauline.

Darn.

Gotta say, though, that biker jumpsuit is... very nice when she's riding a hog.

Ugh. Men.

When you check the map from the main menu or in free roam, if you hover over a character you can see how many costumes they have and how many you’ve found.

Getting a little more used to it now and enjoying it more. I almost don't want to ask, but is link playable and unlockable? Please tell me he is 😅

@NintendoByNature unfortunately, no, nintendo did not include any franchise representation outside of mario. it wouldve been great to have a bunch of zelda characters (and i think a lot might come in a future update), but hey, we have Dolphin and Coin Coffer. thats something special.

I LOVE SWITCH 2!!!
wheres ninji in mario kart world?

Yes, characters from other franchises would be cool in a future update. I have a feeling they'll easily be able to expand that existing world adding new tracks from other games like Zelda, Metroid etc. Even if they had to create an additional "island" to travel too, I'm sure they'll do something like that in the future.

@OctolingKing13 @maxrpg that's too bad. Really hope that comes in an update down the road. Loved jumping in MK8 with link and him holding up the triforce. Used to screenshot it all the time.

I'm assuming (I know, very dangerous) that we're gonna see a patch within the next week or two for some stuff:

  • Ability for online lobbies to just do 3-lap races
  • Tone down golden mushroom
  • Some sort of "total" tracker on the world map for ? missions, peach coins, etc.
  • Quicker transitions between races in single-player GPs and at the end of those GPs

In the future, I think we'll also see online 3-lap races scaled back from 24 players. 24 on the normal tracks is just insane. It's too many people, too much chaos.

Well i finally got mario kart world ordered. Hope it's worth the 80 freaking dollars 🤯

My charge card passed out from shock and had to be resuscitated. LOL!

Anyway looking forward to diving into my first switch 2 game!

Beat every 100ccm Grand Prix race and got three stars. That was the easy part.

150cc isn’t too bad for the GPs, either.

It’s getting three stars on 150cc Knockout Tours that’s tough. You have to be first place through every gate, not just the final one. I’m down to 2 of those left.

@rallydefault
I tried a 150ccm Grand Prix yesterday and I think you are right, it is definitely manageable. Knockout Tour sounds like a real challenge, if you are going for three stars. Well it will take me some time to get there but thank you for telling me, because now I am mentally prepared for it.

Edit: I wish you success for the two remaining Knockout Tours.

I enjoy playing Mario Kart World, but something important is missing from online races:

– The feeling of closure after a challenge
– The growing tension of a Grand Prix where the last race really matters
– The overall recognition of your performance

Right now, each race stands alone and leads straight into the next. There’s no cumulative ranking, no final results, no sense of a real winner.

Does anyone else miss the option to play a full set of 4–5 races with a final leaderboard?

Even having it as an alternate online mode would make a huge difference.

(I’m not talking about Knockout Tour)

Thank you! Just "knocked" out one of them yesterday (lol). One more to go!

I'm probably going to stop playing the game until they rebalance the NPC racers. It feels like they're far too aggressive to the point where even if you play well, you're not going to win. I can't say how many times I was pelted by a rain of shells when I got towards the finish line. I heard the game has NPCs that scale in difficulty depending on how you play, but I shouldn't have to ignore all of the mechanics of the game just to actually have a chance at winning.

"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."

@VoidofLight
Try to fish for the horn when you're in the lead, and always have a trail item. If you're doing Knockout, take the extra half second to veer for food bags: you can use them to recover. And if you're playing single player, don't forget the rewind!

Love the Wario pirate costume and I think that Wario should get a game where he searches for treasure on the high seas.
It would mean his character kind of coming full circle as the villain in the first Wario Land is a pirate.

That is all.
