@rallydefault
Thank you! And congrats for getting three stars in the Knockout Tours! I hope you can finish the rest. I am playing only one hour every day, so my game progress is very slow, but I will definitely try free roam, before Bananza releases.
I played Knockout Tour online for about an hour last night. First time really spending time with it online. I think the best that I placed was 6th. Rarely do I make it out of the top 16 round. I'm decent at MK, but this is humbling. I don't know if I'll ever get a victory . It's amazing at how quickly you can go from 1st to 24th. It's very fun, and I really need to practice, because constantly getting my butt kicked starts to wear on me.
Apart from needing to spend more time with multiplayer, I'm really enjoying the free roam. More than I thought that I would. 2 weeks in, still really loving this game.
Yeah, I quit this game. You literally get punished for playing well in both Grand Prix and Knockout Tour. It's gotten to the point where the game is making me violently shake whenever I'm in the lead because I know I'll instantly get pelted with tons of shells right before I reach the finish-line like clockwork.
This is genuinely the most unfun Mario Kart game I've ever played.

@rallydefault Yeah, I don't know. I think the power of the vibes wore off after like 15 years or whatever it's been lol. I'm just so bored of the dang track. But at least it's not koopa troopa beach
Just feels like a lottery game.
I get top 4 in one knockout tour, then bottom 16 in the next.
Offline the rubber banding is abysmal.
They should at least offer som settings for this.
An npc can keep up with you, pass you when you get blue shelled, and then virtually stopp to let you get back in top.
Not sure if was worth buying it in the bundle even. Not having to much fun.
$100 to be able to rent 30 year old games, pinch me now!
@beat_me_up That's strange, I follow a lot of competitive players on YT, and they all say it's the most skill based one. I guess they all just lied or something because some random dude who's posted nothing but borderline offensive comments on their account said otherwise. (Yes I'm aware I'm falling for the rage bait, but idc at this point)
@VoidofLight
Yesterday I was hit by a blue shell and at least four red shells right after that, brutal. I have no idea how no npc was able to overtake me though.
@beat_me_up Way to be sexist! Acting like women can't have skill! Guess I'm not a skilled gamer, am I?
This game throws out any and all level of skill by punishing people who genuinely play well. The NPCs scale with your skill level, and most of the time it's done in a way that genuinely feels unfair. Being pelted with blue shell and red shell after red shell three feet from the finish isn't the game being fair. It's the game deciding if it wants to screw you over or not just for actually engaging with the game's systems and abilities. I'm a fairly good player. I trick whenever there's a railing or wall. I hoard items behind me so I can have a shield. I drift around corners and I take the shortcuts the game clearly lays out. However despite doing all of this, I still end up being beaten in Knock-out tour as the Ai scales and cheats its way to the goal before I can even get to it.
Also like others said, this one is a skill based game. It's just that there's horrible balancing that makes it to where even skilled players get screwed over in the end.

@beat_me_up Everything that you just said is completely lacking in fact that it's not even funny. "Cozy games" aren't a genre. It's a label. There are a good bit of men who consider themselves "cozy game" youtubers. I've seen one who basically makes videos on every single game he could find with farming as a mechanic.
Some games are also slapped with the "cozy game" label that would count as "real games" with difficult content. Fantasy Life i is a game with pretty difficult content and a massive grind towards the post-game. At some points you basically have to learn the systems of the game in order to get further along within it.
