If switch 2(switch u?) was to grab my attention it would need
A new joycon set with ir blasters and a console sensor bar so gyro pointer/reticle works better
Better haptics
Full backwards compatibility with switch including letting the gryo work using said sensor so light gun games work right
Either a joy con speaker or clever use of hapics to sound
Virtual console(perhaps for online perks have vc games streamable on rotation but please let us buy them to run with no lag off the sd)
Raytracing
Mario kart double dash 2
Mario galaxy 3
Switch sports 2
1 2 switch 3
A stylus more like the ds one if possible
Switch play(all the old wii play games with a new twist)
Wii party 2(switch party)
And way more big studios doing exclusives
All I want is backwards compatability, with both digital and physical games. We already know that the same Nintendo accounts will be used, so there is no excuse for Nintendo not to allow digital games.
Currently playing: Pokemon Soul Silver, Mario RPG
Enos 1:15
What I hope for a Day1 purchase:
-Steam Deck performance level
-Backwards compatibility
-Good battery life (4-5 hours on most demanding games)
-A better screen than Switch V1 (LCD or Oled)
-Price, not over 400 $
Backwards compatibility is the make-or-break feature, any other feature is ancillary. If the NG Switch doesn't support my OG Switch physical collection, I have no qualms about skipping the platform all together.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,473 games (as of July 4th, 2025)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 2 games (as of June 9th, 2025)
I'm a pretty simple man when it comes to what I want out of a Switch 2: just bring back a lot of the QOL from the 3DS days.
Accurate play-times, different purchasable home themes, eShop music; these are all things you only really start to appreciate when they're taken away from you and the Switch, for everything it does right, definitely feels a bit on the drab end in terms of presentation so stuff like this would really go a long way towards me picking it up down the line.
oh and backwards compatibility + a graphics/potential framerate boost would also be highly appreciated 👍
Mario Maker 2 Maker ID: YT1-0Q2-YFF
Please ask for permission before using my FC!

WISH:
0. Better UI/allow some custome Themes/user setups
1. DLSS
2. RT/RTL
3. Bigger Screen or fold out??
4. More RAM
5. Bigger Storage/upgradable storage
6. Computer transfer options
7. Magnetic Joy-Cons
8. Two microSD slots
9. Two cart slots double cart fun
10. Not KILL the piggybank....
11. Last and not least have BC or else it will gone in history as worst then the 80's console failures.
12. Mic built-in
13. Front/Rear Camera/IR functions
14. Computer folder where you can transfer accounts faster and be convenient
I just want it to do something surprising that none of us have thought of. More power will be nice but that alone wouldn't be enough to make me want to pay £300 for the thing (even if I would inevitably get one anyway to play the new Marios and Zeldas). I'd like something akin to the Wii U's second screen, that opens up new possibilities for game ideas (but implemented in a way that makes it easy for developers to ignore if they choose to).
Thank you Nintendo for giving us Donkey Kong Jr Math on Switch Online
I say a 2nd screen would be better for me that portability but i'm in a minority
Magnectic joy cons would be a good idea also allowing easy use of straps or "light guns"
-To be a console & whole new product that allows Switch to live on as their portable with a massive user base (and emphasize dual releases/forward compatibility with the next Nvidia chip's tensor and RT cores).
-New motion controllers that have real prongs and are ergonomic, and a new body tracking IR camera system.
-4060 based gpu ($300 for you and me).
-Microphone and headset support for voice chat.
-A sku with a Blu-ray drive for players with poor internet who need games to be on the disc. Poor internet in rural areas is part of why Nintendo won, because downloads over 30GB can take half the US tens of hours.
-Complete games actually on the disc.
-Evolve the system into the next portable in a few years with a new tablet form when the power consumption and production NM are lower (when Switch is 10 years old).
Unrealistic: My Nintendo Store as the storefront instead of eShop
Realistic:
1. Improved UI
2. Color Themes
3. UI Music
4. Better running eShop with new features (like a shopping cart feature, as well as review/rating and gifting features)
5. Give the eShop music
6. Something like Swapnote
7. Built-in mic for voice chat so we don’t have to use the NSO app for voice chat
