@Dogorilla If I could only choose 1, I'd definitely pick Twilight Princess over a new Mario Kart. The Booster Course Pass made MK8 Deluxe feel very fresh meanwhile linear Zelda is very much in a drought post-2021 (Skyward Sword HD).
DLC of a mobile port, the vast majority of which is remakes of old courses, is fresh? The Booster Course has always felt like cheap padding because they didn't feel like making a new Mario Kart until now. Mario Kart's drought has been even longer than 2021, it hasn't had a new main series entry since 2017.
@Grumblevolcano You're not getting 20 new though. You're getting Tour ports. The BCP has nothing really new, it's basically all ports. I guess technically the few that came out in the BCP before Tour are "new" but there were far less than 16 of those (there were what, 3-5 of them or something?). Tour is the new game, not the BCP. And that's a mobile game, there hasn't been a console main series game since 2017, and a NEW console game since 2014. It's been a rough drought for Mario Kart lately, it desperately needed this upcoming game.
@Bolt_Strike They were new for me because I never played Tour. I followed the news about the game like watching the videos on the Nintendo Mobile youtube but only as a tease for the kind of tracks that might appear in the next Mario Kart or the BCP.
I don't like the way mobile games handle monetization and Tour is no different in that regard so I skipped it. Of course if you play Tour, the Tour tracks wouldn't feel new because you've already played them in Tour except the 3 which debuted first in the BCP (Sky High Sundae, Yoshi's Island, Squeaky Clean Sprint).

Which is all the more reason why we need this new Mario Kart game now. Tour doesn't quite cut it for some segments of the fanbase like you that don't like the casual/simplified playstyle or monetization of a mobile game and that's been the only new Mario Kart content in 11 years. I said it the day the BCP was announced and I'll say it again, the BCP was not the right way to tide Mario Kart fans over until a new console entry, and now it's left the series feeling way overdue for new content.
@Grumblevolcano I don't want to believe that BotW is being remastered - it just seems completely unnecessary, especially when backwards compatibility is one of the main things Nintendo has emphasised about the Switch 2 so far. But I suppose it's almost as old now as Twilight Princess was when that was remastered on a console that could already play Wii games, so there is precedent there...
I mean, a Switch 2 enhancements patch isn’t out of the table for most Switch games.
If Nintendo were to release a Switch game on the Switch 2, I think it would be SSB Ultimate, complete with all the DLC.
It's the only game that would make a bit of sense, in my opinion. But I wouldn't buy it again.

That would be a better way of going about it for sure.

You know what, I probably would actually buy that since I haven't bought any of the Smash Ultimate DLC yet apart from the Sans costume.
Thank you Nintendo for giving us Donkey Kong Jr Math on Nintendo Music
Looks like it will be MK9. I’m cool with that but I honestly want a new IP that’s out of the box for Nintendo something no one would expect them to make.
@Bolt_Strike I think there are ways in which the DLC approach could've been improved like having Sky Garden and Sunset Wilds more resemble the original GBA tracks than their simplified Tour remakes as well as starting DLC earlier rather than it starting 5 years after 8 Deluxe came out. But the concept of 8 having a 10+ year lifespan is a good one in my mind.
I hope if they do the same thing for MK9, that they use the new game gap to bring back the other racing franchises over the Switch 2 era. F-Zero (99 was a start but perhaps remaster GX and then do a new game), Wave Race, 1080, Excitebike, etc.

Hard disagree. 10+ years is waaaaay too long, especially having just come off regular 3 year gaps. Easy to get bored of the same tracks and mechanics in that time. The gap was utterly maddening IMO.

They could, but I'm not sure if they will because those IPs aren't very profitable. Otherwise I think we need a spinoff/side series in the middle of the generation. If MK9 is not already going in the open world direction, then that might be a good direction. Make a more DKR/Forza Horizons style Mario Kart game where you drive and race around a large open world.
@Novamii I see single player and multiplayer differently so like while I don't think the Mario Kart gap was too long, I do think the DK gap is way too long. Both franchises had their last new mainline entry in 2014 (Tropical Freeze in February 2014, MK8 in May 2014).
If Mario Kart had more of a single player edge to it like how Diddy Kong Racing and Crash Team Racing both had Adventure story modes then sure, the gap would feel too long to me. But with the exception of Mission Mode on DS, Mario Kart's single player has pretty much been beat the GPs and improve your times in Time Trials.
In my humble opinion launch titles for the new Switch should be something Mario kart , animal crossing and also Pokémon. Basically Anything the original switch had only better.

I don't think I'll be a day one Switch 2 purchaser because all the games I'm most looking forward to feel like they're at least a year or two away. I think there's zero chance of any of these but...
Monolith Soft's next new game (Xenoblade or new IP)
New mainline Pokemon
Next big 3D Zelda game
Dragon Quest 12
New mainline "Tales of" game
These are my games that'll definitely make me buy a Switch 2, think it'll be quite a wait though.
