@SwitchForce I would be OK with patches making BotW/TotK run better and whatnot, but there is no universe where I support a rerelease this soon. A new open-world game would be great, though I doubt it. (Not that likelihood is important, just look at my list lol)
@CaleBoi25 We will see what they decide to do at that point. But remember BOTW was a WiiU games so they made it for both and it didn't take advantage all the Switch v1 had to offer. So I could see a standalone case box for BOTW and TOTK that is for Switch 2 cart that would be what Switch 2 gamers would expect.
I really hope Nintendo gets the quality/variety of their launch games right.
The SNES with Super Mario World, F-Zero and Pilotwings and the Wii with Wii Sports, Zelda: Twilight Princess and Excite Truck were the best in my opinion.
A good lineup for me would be:
Metroid Prime 4 (cross-gen title)
New Mario Kart
And the other game... I have several options. Star Fox, Golden Sun, Pilotwings, 1080°... Any of them would be great.
I would want Metroid Prime 4. As for what I think is realistic - I genuinely believe Halo: The Master Chief Collection will be a launch game. I also think we will get a full blown remake, or at the very least a port of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (similar to Skyward Sword). Top all of that off with Mario Kart 9 and your typical trappings for a Nintendo system launch, and I think you got a killer lineup of launch titles.
I'm excited for Metroid Prime 4.... but equally, I'm somewhat disappointed that this will be one of the 'cross-gen games' - as Nintendo have essentially confirmed it will be Switch1 playable. Of course I'm delighted that this will be great for players who will hold off / abstain from buying S2... but at the same time, I really want to see Nintendo lean into their new tech and take absolute advantage of what is available (instead of compromising on potential, due to cross-gen playability... we saw similar with PS5 launch and majority of releases being PS4 compatable)
I'd also like less remakes/remasters. IMO, Gamecube should be added to NSO - with the classic Zeldas being added to that roster and included in the existing higher-tier premium.
I'm really hungry for new entries in dormant IPs, specifically developed for S2 hardware, eg FZero / Starfox. A new 3D Mario would be cool also.
Launch Day
Mario Kart 9 or X or whatever
New IP
Persona 3 Reload
Final Fantasy VII Remake
Within the first full year (so into 2026)
3D Mario: I really want this on launch day but I don't think Nintendo will release Mario Kart and 3D Mario on the same day.
Animal Crossing
Donkey Kong
Star Fox
Luigi's Mansion 4
Kirby
F-Zero GX HD
Wind Waker & Twilight Princess HD Ports
I think Switch 2 would benefit from having 1-2-3-Switch built in (or whatever they end up calling it) Not the most exciting answer, I know, but I think it would be a good fit.
To this very day, I feel like the OG Switch should have come with 1-2-Switch pre-installed instead of making it a $60 stand alone title. It doesn't have too much replayability, but it's a fantastic tour of all the gimmicks the Switch has to offer, and leaves a good first impression on people who may be convinced to buy one for themselves.
if the launch day line up doesn't look like this...
Mario Kart 9, Metroid Prime 4 Switch 2 Edition, party game.
It'll look like this...
A major single player game, Zelda or 3D Mario, along with a party game. With MK9 and MP4 coming a month or two later. I'm not so sure MK and 3D Mario would release so close together though. So Zelda it is.
Mario Odyssey 2, Luigi's Mansion 4, and a 3D Donkey Kong game would be the dream for me, let's at least hope that we get the new 3D Mario game close to the launch of Switch 2.
When it comes to 3D Mario and Mario Kart, I think 3D Mario makes a better launch title and Mark Kart makes a better holiday game, so I think that's what we'll see...
Launch:-
1. 3D Mario
2. A Snipperclips/1-2 Switch type game to show off the mouse
3. Metroid Prime 4
4. Loads of 3rd Party games
Rest of 2025
1. A Zelda port (WindWaker or Twilight Princess)
2. Mario Kart
3. Kirby Forgotten Land 2
4. A Mario Sports Game
5. Something Star Fox
6. Mario Party
If I want the launch lineup to be spicy, I'll limit myself to one major game per publisher.
Nintendo - Mario Kart 9 (I expect Super Mario Odyssey 2 six months after launch)
Atlus - Metaphor Re:Fantazio
Bandai Namco - Elden Ring
Sega - Yakuza (not sure which)
Microsoft - Forza Horizon 5
Ubisoft - Assassin's Creed (not sure which)
EA - Madden (I'd prefer the Mass Effect remasters, but whatever)
Capcom - Street Fighter 6
Konami - Silent Hill 2 Remake
Square-Enix - Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn
MiHoYo - Genshin Impact
Activision Blizzard - Call of Duty (not sure which)
NetEase - Marvel Rivals
Take-Two Interactive - Grand Theft Auto V (that's right, not VI)
Tencent - Warframe (we're going from OG Switch being the worst version of WF...to the Switch 2 being the worst version of WF)
In other news, water is wet.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,529 games (as of November 20th, 2025)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 3 games (as of November 23rd, 2025)
How many physical games will the Switch 2 have at launch?
And will the game boxes be bigger or smaller than the OG Switch? And what color will they be?
And the cartridges, will they be gray or white?
Tomorrow, my friends.
