I personally prefer when these releases have their songs in order of when they show up in-game, I find it kind of difficult to track down what I want otherwise. I recall missing a huge chunk of Super Mario Galaxy's soundtrack at first pass when this app first came out because of the chaotic order that OST is in.
The songs on this app that don't loop/can't be extended are certainly a thing that exists. >_>

Star Fox 64 falls into the "old official OST releases put onto [the] app" category.
Oh good to know. I just assumed I would've recognized that from being such a huge fan of the game.
Whenever Paper Mario 1 is added, look out for both Shiver Mountain stopping midway through a 2nd loop and Toad Toad having a 2nd giant montage song for all the extra songs you can overhear naturally while in Toad Town. Those are from the OST. Also I think an early version of the final battle theme.
@squiddu-real
'aight, so I finally had a chance to run through your suggestions. Great tunes overall! I didn't end up adding anything new to my main playlist, but I got plenty of fodder for my auxiliary playlists, especially the pep/wake-up one. Thanks for that!
Y'know, I really do think you could probably pull up enough songs to join the niche community playlist, I can already see plenty of very eligible songs just going over your recommends (like Battle Lab or M-A-X Power); if you added in the battle themes that you didn't mention here, you could probably get a full 5 songs from Origami King alone! As AJWolfTill said, it doesn't even need to be that niche, there are plenty of people who bypassed Origami King and would consider the whole OST to be unknown. I for one certainly wouldn't mind Shogun Studios or one of the boss themes getting a spot on our playlist.
EDIT: I meant to say, your tastes seem pretty similar to mine. Das purdy kewl.

i might bring up a top 5 soon, but i need to go back through some osts i barely skimmed. i could share a playlist of all the "niche" stuff so far that i like!
Not sure whether they'd move this week's batch late or next week's early but the original NES Zelda released on February 21st 1986 so I think there's the chance for Zelda soundtracks. I'll have a mixture of Zelda and non-Zelda predictions for this week:
The Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening (1993, or both 1993 and 2019)
Donkey Kong Country Returns
Xenoblade Chronicles 1, probably throw in Definitive Edition too
My top 5 favorite games:
1: Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1
2: Pokémon Violet
3: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
4: The Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening (2019)
5: Animal Crossing New Horizons

I agree that Kirby is due and it's still been quite some time since we got an N64 soundtrack I will guess Kirby 64 again. Not getting sick of guessing the same game over and over as I'm a huge Kirby fan. Getting to guess Kirby games is always such a joy.
I would like to issue a formal apology to the soundtrack of Paper Mario: The Origami King.
In the Nintendo Life article about the release of the game's soundtrack, I inappropriately commented that the soundtrack was "solid but nothing to write home about". Given the incredibly long length of the soundtrack and the fact that I hadn't played the game prior, I could only listen to approximately 8-10 seconds of each song in order to determine if it impressed me. This led me to the incorrect conclusion that the Origami King soundtrack was m*diocre. In any case, I still added a selection of songs to my Study mixes. While completing some of my coursework this past week, I have occasionally taken note of certain songs that would be of exceptional quality. I would check which song they were and every single time, the track has been from Origami King. So yeah, the OST is peak.
I regret what I said. Perhaps I was just a tad vengeful about the negativity faced by Mario & Luigi: Brothership's soundtrack. Now, I beg on my hands and knees and elbows for forgiveness from the powerful Origami King OST fandom for my extremely vulgar remarks.
(Note: Well, in any case it still isn't as good as The Ultimate Show from Super Paper Mario.)
(Note: Still not crazy about the bwow synth)

This is the type of week where I wish we had 4+ guesses! But I'll keep it to three: Splatoon 3 DLC, Link's Awakening, or Majora's Mask.
@squiddu-real
That's a pretty good list, and that's just from a few games!
You can always feel free to skim through my own list of S-tier favorites in my sig, there's a lot of songs in there that you probably already know of anyway but you might find a few hidden gems in there too.
@UpsideDownRowlet
I recall seeing your comment in that article and finding it strange, but I don't think there's a reason to apologize for an odd take. (Although I get the impression that you're being a bit tongue-in-cheek, nothing wrong with that either!) But yeah, PM:tOK's OST doesn't really lend itself to short ten-second listens, a lot of songs are long and elaborate.
By the way, a general PSA to anyone thumbing through this game's OST who isn't already familiar with the game: the Legion of Stationary battle themes (this game's main bosses) are pretty easy to miss because of the way they're named, there isn't anything identifying it as a "battle" or "boss fight" like the other battle tracks have. So I thought I'd list 'em out below, they're all bangers anyway:
The Missle Maestro
The Elastic Entertainer*
Disco Devil
The Shifty Sticker
The Dual-Bladed Duelist
The Fanged Fastener
(*Not be confused with The Elastic Entertainer Enters, although that one is great too imo)
Hope this helps someone! Even I ran over a couple of these at first glance. Try to listen and see if you can hear the office supply sounds being replicated in each song lmao

I sincerely hope that if/when we do get VB albums, they're all together instead of one drop at a time.
