Topic: Nintendo Music App

Haha yeah, of course, but there are also plenty of "lesser" songs that I think are more popular than people realize. I don't think you can use much of anything from Mario Kart 8 for example, pretty much the entire OST is instantly recognizable. (Funnily enough, Lunar Colony is one of the few exceptions I can think of!)

Anyway, here's my own nominees. It was hard to narrow it down to five, hopefully they're deep-cut enough!

Battling Bowser 1: Showdown in Nimbus Arena ~ Super Mario Odyssey
This track is incredibly easy to overlook, because it only plays once during a short fight. I don't think I ever even heard the full thing until this app released! A shame too, because it might be the best track in the game.

Battle Against the Returned Master Kohga ~ The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
I had a few choices for Nintendo's epic Japanese rock songs that I could've used here (like Vs. Ogerpon from Pokémon S/V, or Big Blue 3 from F-Zero X), but I thought to go with this one, because it's very different in style from much of TotK's OST and only plays for a couple of brief fights. Fun fact, I always confuse this one with Battle! Mustard from Pokémon Sw/Sh when it comes up on my playlist. Lol!

Fast-Flowing Waterworks ~ Kirby and the Forgotten Land
I hear KatFL's OST come up a lot in discussions, but no one ever mentions this banger! This was the first song in the game that made me stop and go "oh dang, that's really good". It's this perfect blend of tempo, calm, and rhythm that just speaks to me so well.

All Aboard the Excess Express ~ Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (GameCube)
Much like my recommendation from Odyssey, this song only shows up once and plays very briefly. Moreover, it sounds very different in the remake, where they kind of removed the "train chugging along" sound of it, so I think the original version is worthy of notice!

Rhythm Boxing (Expert) ~ Wii Fit
"I've got a feevah, and the only prescription is more cowbell!"

BONUS: The Frog Flap from the original WarioWare - I don't love this as much as the other items on this list, so I left it off my choices, but I just wanted to bring this one up because I noticed that no one mentioned it when the album released last week. It's such a cheery and fun tune!

@Sylamp, I second wanting that, even though I have those tracks on my phone already 😛. Though I won't start including that kind of thing in my guesses until more real games are added.

I like that idea, but seeing as we just got a 3DS OST last week with Tomodachi Life, I doubt we'd be getting it next week.

The 5 tracks I'd like to add to our little community playlist are:

the niche playlist is a fun idea, though unfortunately i don't think i have many underrated choices. im one of those people that almost exclusively listens to the songs everyone else loves (boss battles, iconic area themes, that kinda stuff)... so can someone else pull another 5 to make up for me?

edit: also, i don't have any playlists to share, all i've got is my favorites list.

FYI guys and gals I've got everything in a playlist so far, just thought I'd get a few more members involved before sharing. (Also overthinking my own choices XD)

I enjoyed your playlist a lot. I knew a lot of it but I found some new additions to my favourites.

Interestingly, although I've heard a lot of the MK8 songs a lot I'd only listened in the context of the game where the engine noises, super stars and other SFX bury a lot of the songs. Listening to the ones on your playlist have me new appreciation for them(especially Bowsers Castle). I'd also never heard Berlin Byways so that was a treat!

I'm working on my five still — it's hard to narrow it down! Currently, I've got Tour Singapore Speedway (Chinatown Ver.) for MK8DX, and Hyper Diver Anxiety Society from S3 (it was close between that and Ride of Fry Octopush)

I’ll add to this community playlist too then:

My main guess for next week is Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, that feels like a gimme with the port's 5th anniversary coming up (so of course they won't actually do it lol). Otherwise, uh, Super Metroid or Mario Kart Wii I guess. Gonna go against the grain and avoid the other obvious guess of Mario Tennis, lol.

Thanks for having a listen, and that's great that you've gotten a few new favorites out of it! My main playlist has an embarrassingly disproportionate number of MK8D tracks (68; the next most is TTYD Switch at 30 tracks), so I sometimes forget that not everyone knows these tracks so well!

I'm already bracing myself for MK World, I can imagine myself adding 100+ songs even without any DLC yet. X-D

Chinatown Singapore Speedway is super underrated, that's a good pick! I legit like it better than the main version of the song, but from what I've seen around online, that seems to be a fringe opinion.

My guesses this week are Mario tennis (64), Mario power tennis, or Mario tennis aces

For this week, I will guess Majora's Mask, Super Metroid, or a Special Release of select songs from Mario Tennis Fever.

Time for my guesses this week — and just for fun, I'm going to put my hopes instead of real predictions (with the hopes being based on games that have songs I love and would put in our collab playlist lol!)

• Splatoon 3 (full OST) — because then I could put one of the J1TT3R5 tunes lol
• Mario Kart Wii — I want Daisy Circuit!!
• Punch-Out!! — for Jogging (Countdown) because it's a good song

My guesses are:

• DK King of Swing - It's been awhile since GBA got an NSO game (September with Klonoa Empire of Dreams and Mr Driller 2) so maybe it gets added to NSO and Nintendo Music at the same time
• Kirby Nightmare in Dreamland - Same reasoning as DK
• Fire Emblem Three Houses - The number of Switch games added slowed down after Brothership so I'm guessing Fire Emblem because Fortune's Weave is coming later this year.
