omg. I am seeing every fanboy flooding the IGN' and Eurogamers comment section about this topic. They are all saying stuff like goodbye Nintendo, Goodbye Mario, Nintendo is close to death, Nintendo is going under...
It's really frustrating to read all this. I can't deal with their stupidity.
This thread has a misleading name. Nintendo's going to have mutliple conferences directed at different audiences. This doesn't mean they're not having any conference during E3 at all, just not a big, traditional one that attempts to show everyone everything.
Essentially, what they're doing is breaking the conference down into smaller conferences directed at different people.
I thought that this would happen... Can the title be Nintendo's E3 Conference won't be the same this year or Nintendo's E3 press conference will be done a bit differently.... Suggestions?
Was Mariobro4. No, I'm not taking off my backpack...it's important.
you guys really need to read the article again. Iwata says
"At the E3 show this year, we are planning to host a few smaller events that are specifically focused on our software lineup for the U.S. market. There will be one closed event for American distributors, and we will hold another closed hands-on experience event, for mainly the Western gaming media."
they are still going to be at E3. Just not doing a large scale presentation.
Want: Harvest Moon: One World, Story of Seasons: Pioneering Town, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury
Finished the Alola Dex.
Now playing New Horizons, Wrath of White Witch and Sword
Makes sense. I'd bet nintendo would prefer to spend time at E3 getting the Wii U into journalists' hands and answering their questions, and have the big hype generating message go directly to potential customers.
During their last E3 they revealed everything in a nintendo direct and their conference wasn't received as well because of it. They probably expect the same to happen this year, and are planning ahead.
