So if you choose talk, is it like Animal crossing? Just something random pops up? I know this isn't the whole point of the game but it's something I still think is nice.

Pretty much.
I believe that there'll be a few random quotes that she'll say relevant to the story at the time which will boost the affinity when you listen but then after that she runs out of things to say and then says pretty much nothing until next time you come to talk to her.
I guess it just adds another little element to the game to try to raise the affinity to the maximum level before you finish the game.

Can anyone confirm whether the affinity affects the ending of the story or anything like that?
The instruction booklet or something seemed to point towards that if I recall.

Yes, the affinity does affect the games ending. I've heard that the affinity has to be at level 8 to get the best ending.

@KaiserGX This gamefaqs thread gives some information about the dating sim aspects of the game. Also, seeing as you were wondering if she says anything relevant to the story, I've heard that there are books in each tower and if you bring them to her, it will start up a conversation that will be relevant to the back story of the game.

Level 8, you say?
I'm currently on level 2 and only up to the third tower, sounds pretty doable (I hope).
Would love to keep playing further, but unfortunately I must sleep so it's going to have to wait.

Oh, I also thought it's worth noting that the game can be played with either the Wii Remote + Nunchuck or the Classic Controller Pro.
Considering I didn't have my sensor bar set up due to it not being able to fit on top of my new TV, I first gave it a shot with the Classic Controller Pro.
A lot of the gameplay though involves relatively precise aiming around the screen with your whip though, and that felt pretty difficult with the analogue stick.
So then I decided to get my sensor bar set up and give it a shot with the Wii Remote and Nunchuck, and it takes a little while to get used to, but once you do it's very easy and very natural.
The game was clearly built to use the pointer controls so I'd suggest to anyone who buys this that that's probably the best way to play.
Feel free to test out both ways for yourself though if you don't trust my judgement.

This is NOT a nintendo game. It's made by Ganbarion, who made a one piece game on the gamecube. Nintendo is just publishing it for Europe and JP, that's all.

I cannot say I was a big fan of this, but it did ensure I'm getting my coin set in October (got the confirmation email today, woo).

The story is weird, but interesting, but I found the gameplay too repetitive and the story wasn't interesting enough for me to want to persist. No regrets about buying it because I support the idea of porting unusual games like this, but I would rather see NoE publishing something like Excite Bots or Captain Rainbow.

It is a first party game. Nintendo did more than just publish it. I've read some interviews and they worked with Ganbarion on some parts of it, they were quite involved with the game. The same goes for The last story as Nintendo worked with Mistwalker on that. I'm not completely sure about this but I think Nintendo have the rights to include characters, stages etc. from these games in the next smash bros. if they wanted to and I hope they do.

That doesn't mean they have to publish it in the US, and I really hope people on facebook stop asking them on every post (Unless nintendo asks what game they would want on wii.) It's still a good game, but seeing how the developer goes around for a lot of companies, it may not be published in the US by nintendo if they don't want to. They don't really need to, you know.

Due to Nintendo's involvement in the game, Ganbarion would have to get permission from Nintendo to get it published by someone else in America if NoA is reluctant to. I think NoA handed over the publishing duties to Xseed for The last story rather than Mistwalker approaching Xseed without any input from Nintendo so it would be a similar case to that if it was published by a different published in America.
