Well one of my "sites" has the Mario movie to stream on. Going to check it out in a few minutes.

Ah yes, truly the best way to experience movie magic is by clicking through dozens of virus spewing ads to watch unfocused camcorder footage with subtitles of a language I’ve never heard of before as my ears ring from the poor sound and the film keeps buffering every few minutes.

I went and saw the movie last weekend and it was exactly as I imagined it, for better and for worse. I was interested in the movie primarily for the Easter Eggs and the music, and the movie overdelivered on those two fronts the best. Story wise it was very generic, and was rushed pretty badly, but despite me being a big movie buff, I didn't really care about that.

The voice performances ranged from god to fantastic; Chris Pratt as Mario was a bit better than I hoped, Charlie Day as Luigi had a charming sincerity, Anya Taylor-Joy was perfectly fine as Peach, adding a nice but unoriginal dash of female empowerment. Keegan-Michael Key was pretty good as Toad, sounded exactly as I hoped. But Jack Black... he was easily the star of the show, stealing the spotlight every single time he appeared onscreen. I did like the smaller role performances too, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek was great, Khary Payton was nice as the Penguin King, and I didn't mind Sebastian Maniscalco with a proper Brooklyn accent as Spike! Charles Martinet had a really nice tongue-in-cheek dual role, not-so-subtly passing the baton for this movie! It was heartwarming.

As stated above though it was the music that really got me. It was a feast for any seasoned Mario fan of any age, and it was such a pleasure to listen to. From the 5 or so themes crammed into ten seconds during the "Mushroom Kingdom town exploration scene" to the Mario Kart 8 kart selection theme, and the Best Hits medley at the end... it was amazing. Brian Tyler also made a really cool theme that fits with the main Mario theme, I really hope they use it in a game in the future...

Solid 8.5/10 from me, I can't wait to see more movies like this. It's at $970 million at the time of writing and I want this movie to do well so badly since we all know what this means for the future.

I'm not sure I'd call it a "super good movie" but it's better than some of the reviews and buzz suggests.

It is effectively a toy commerical with lots of bright colours aimed at 8-10 year olds. It lasts 90 minutes. AND THOSE ARE GOOD THINGS. Not every cartoon should be trying to have its cake and eat it. It's frivolous entertainment - it doesn't have to also be carrying a serious message or packed with jokes aimed specifically at the adults in the audience.

I know that Pixar over the years have spoiled us but - in general - if I as an adult want to watch a film dealing with deep emotional or philosophical themes I'll watch a film dealing with deep emotional or philosophical themes. It doesn't have to be squashed in to a film that also has to serve double duty as visual sugar for children.

I'd have loved it if I'd watched it as a 8 year old and as a 38 year old watching it with my children I enjoyed it. A modern animated series based on this take would be huge (and maybe even a better idea than the inevitable sequels/spin-offs).

Somehow the whole Mario movie is on YouTube, it’s just all vocoded to gangsters paradise…..what? Lmao! It also has a whole filter on it, how it has not gotten taken down from YouTube is Beyond me, so if anyone who has seen the movie, wants to watch it that way, I can link it to you, if you want, I’m not going to watch it, but I still think it’s funny lol.

@Owl1
You can watch Super Mario movie at your local cinema while it still available.
You will get full color, loud sounds and better movie experiences.
It's cheap enough to buy the ticket.

@Anti-Matter whenever I go to a theater I've gotten sick, so for the Mario movie, I will be waiting for the rental. I'm sad to not see it on the big screen but at least I won't get sick.

@Anti-Matter oh sorry, it didn’t sound like you were asking a question, my bad lol. Because you said “that was the rainbow colored Mario movie” it made it sound like you knew what it was.

@Owl1 that is amazing to hear! I can’t wait to see it!

@Anti-Matter And I just have to say, I’m not required to respond to a reply right away, even if I did respond to somebody first (not really ignoring) then that’s my choice to do so, I will get to you when I get to you and will reply if I have something to say, and not if I don’t. Sorry if this sounded rude, I just needed to make that clear, as I’m not trying to seem rude if I don’t reply.
