So both my sister and I ended up buying each other the happy home paradise add-on cards for Christmas. We each have our own switch, but her user was still on my console until recently.
She downloaded the content on her own switch and I added the content on mine. We each used our own add-on cards with separate codes, but I cannot access my dlc. It keeps saying “Downloadable content cannot be played”
How do I fix this???
@Melissarenee Just wanted to clarify, is your sister able to play the DLC, but you're not? As far as I know, normally you would need to have made a certain amount of progress to play the DLC. I remember that my mom couldn't get the new stuff from the 2.0.0 update until she had KK Slider perform on her island. Have you had him visit at least once?
I'm also guessing that you're the island representative, and that your sister transferred to a brand new island on her own Switch and copy of the game. That would make her the island representative on her own island. Things should be ok if that's the case. I hope this helped - let us know if you have any more questions.
@Melissarenee Ah, I see. I'm sorry to hear. I looked it up on Nintendo Support and I found this:
The option to go to work becomes available at least one day after all of the following conditions have been met:
The Resident Services building has been completed (upgraded from a tent)
You have attended Tom Nook's DIY workshop
Your resident has a house (upgraded from a tent)
It also says to make sure that your game is up to date as well. In case it doesn't have the latest update, you can highlight ACNH's icon on the home menu, press the + button, pick "Software Update," then start updating from there.
Also another guess from me, perhaps there wasn't enough space in your storage for the DLC to download. Or did it actually download, and it still says it can't be played?
