So next year is Zelda and Metroid’s 35th and Pokémon’s 25th anniversary. I hope they will release a bunch of new and remastered releases for these franchises. Hoping for Zelda BOTW 2, Zelda Skyward Sword remastered, Zelda 16 bit remaster for Zelda 1 and 2, Metroid Prime Collection, Metroid Prime 4, Pokémon Snap 2, Pokémon Let’s Go Johto, Pokémon Shiny Diamond and Sparkling Pearl, Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire (GBA) on eShop and Hey You Pikachu! Switch.
What games do you think will be released next year for these franchises to celebrate their anniversary?
@Don I wish I could temper my hopes honestly. But I know I'm gonna get excited for lots more than we'd likely get.
I'd like to see a Prime Trilogy for Metriod and a port of Samus Returns to Switch.
I'd like to see either a Pokemon Masters Collection, with all of the first 3 generations of Pokemon games, updated to be compatible with Pokemon Home. And/Or a remaster/update of Pokemon Colosseum and XD Gale of Darkness. And Pokemon Pure Platinum, a remake of Platinum (not Diamond/Pearl, because they made some very important changes for Platinum) and I'd like the whole game to feature a "Wild Area" style movable camera with wild Pokemon walking around and our partner Pokemon following us right out of the gate. But the following Pokemon NEEDS to be able to keep up with you, at least on foot!
For the card game, I'd like to see Pokemon TCGO come to Switch, or something like the old Game Boy Pokemon game get made for Switch, based on older formats of the card game. Like Generations 3-6 of the card game. That way they'd safely not be competing with their newer sets.
For Zelda I'd like to see the HD ports of Windwaker and Twilight Princess come to Switch, and an HD remaster of Skyward Sword too. Space out throughout the year, one each quarter, with BOTW2 as the big Holiday release along with Pokemon Pure Platinum and the Samus Returns port.
But I know that it's very unlikely we'll get anywhere close to all that. Especially with Pokemon.
Realistically I expect just Pokemon Snap 2 and a new main series entry, with wifi events over the year. And one or two Zelda and Metroid releases. The card game will just release a single special set, if that and PTCGO will likely not come to Switch...
@Heavyarms55
I would love to see a re-release of the Pokémon Stadium games since I didn’t play those games back in the 2000s. A Pokémon Master Collection would be awesome but I think I read somewhere that it was verified to be fake. But if they do make them they will probably have to do three versions: Red/Gold, Ruby. Blue/Silver/Sapphire and Yellow/ Crystal/Emerald to make the trading work.
Hopefully Zelda's 35th will see the re-release of the Four Swords Anniversary game, I have it but many other fans don't so I think it'd be nice if they got a chance to play it. Hopefully we'll get some game play footage of BotW sequel around then too.
I'm expecting Pokemon to have the most to offer, lots of new merchandise, games and events.
Not getting my hopes up for anything Metroid related, I'm sure Nintendo will neglect Samus like they've been doing for years...
BoTW 2, maybe a remaster or release early in the year.
Gen 4 remakes, Pokemon Snap, Detective Pikachu 2.
Either a new 2D Metroid, or Metroid Prime Trilogy HD (but not both).
@Don Yeah I know that leak was determined to be fake, but that doesn't mean the idea isn't a thing. I just used the name because it's a good name. I'd like to see a collection that has the stadium games in them and natively lets you connect the GB games to them. Because I did play the stadium games, they are quite fun, but also quite hard to enjoy without importing a proper team from a Game Boy game.

They should sell the Stadium games as standalone downloads (or a two in one collection), and offer the GB games as DLC. Then they can add Pokemon Home conectivity using the Pokemon Storage in the Stadium, instead of for each GB game individually.
@Eel I might be remembering things wrong, but you could transfer Pokemon from the 3DS Virtual console version of Red, Blue, Green Yellow, Gold, Silver and Crystal to the newer games right? If so, then I could see that happening with the stadium games.
@Tourtus Yeah they already have an algorithm to convert gen 1-2 pokemon to modern generations. So it wouldn't be difficult for them. Keeping the Home integration limited to the pokemon storage feature built into Stadium would make the whole process simpler for them as well.
@ToadBrigade Like he said they will probably release a neat package with the remastered Wii U versions of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess and hopefully an updated version or better yet a remastered edition of Skyward Sword with additional content. I secretly wish to get a package of the 3DS versions of Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask with upscaled crystal clear HD graphics making them perfect for the Switch Lite.
