Topic: Your take on game logic

I was wondering what you have to say about the use of logic in games. Be it something that can be overlooked as to keep the story going or to keep you from exploring part of a game world early or something that wasn't even programmed. Or things that are not proper to real world logic, like why is Link's stamina the same on the ground as it is on Skyloft even though there should be a massive difference in oxygen levels. Share examples, things that just make you go "why is it...", and because I figure it'll come up at some point, AI in games, "why is the guard looking at the wall as I just walk in", should be another topic.

Why is it that every 5 meters in the super mario galaxy games there is a black hole? And shouldn't their force of gravity be stronger if they're so close to you?

Personally, I find it to be hilarious. Usually someone has to point it out to me though. I'm bad at catching breaks in logic.

Why is it that Mario can breathe indefinitely underwater in his 2D adventures but he has a limited oxygen supply when he goes 3D?

how about this, why do I need to go find a key for a door when I have a sledgehammer. Or, why is it one key, one lock. It's always the same key.

On some desert levels in NSMBW why can you breathe under the quick sand? (for the secret coins)
How can a level 100 azurill which is 8in tall beat a level 40 Wailord who is 48ft. With a tackle but not the other way around?
To get past sudowoodo why do you need a spray bottle when you have a croconaw?

why is it that pokemon with wings need an hm to fly and why is it that pokemon that can swim need an hm to swim and dive . >.> and how can a pidgey carry a 10 year old boy or girl from town to town.

Why is it, that in sonic games, you play as a sentient hedgehog who runs at high velocities to stop a morbidly obese scientist with anger management issues from exploiting animals that are apparently non-sentient? And why is it that those animals can breath underwater but you die after a minute or so? And why is it that you capture these animals and force them to hug "guardians" of an ancient city so these "guardians" can turn different colors and beat each other up?

How can Mario breathe in space in SMG 1 and 2?

How come Bowser keeps using the same tactic?

How come the masks in OOT can't do what they can in MM

I think the more illogical games are the more fun ones

How does someone get struck by lightening, blown up by bombs, blown up by flying blue shells, and fall off cliffs from absolutely ridiculous heights and still find a way to finish in first place in a go kart race with no scratches to the cart or themselves...AND still have enough energy to fist pump and claim you're the best?

Why does BPlus still exist?

the biggest mario logic problem of all, why doesn't mario marry peach, and become king of the mushroom kingdom? Therefor bowser would need to beat him to take over, which will never happen. There's the end to mario and bowser's constant battles.
External answer is Nintendo keeps making money with the fight so no need to resolve it.

What cracks me up is games where you can get treasure, leave town, return and get more from the same chest. So, I can just imagine little treasure gnomes running in to refill the chest in the time it takes to leave town and get back to said chest.

I think Bowser would just change his motive. In this situation, he'd try to beat Mario to the point Peach gets embarrassed of Mario and decides to turn to Bowser because he is more manly!

Why is it, that in Super Mario World, Mario decides to go to an island infested with unfriendly dinosaurs and bring the princess with him?

Officially canon-wise by Nintendo themselves, how did Mario/Luigi, Wario/Waluigi & Peach/Daisy/Rosalina come to the Mushroom Kingdom/World as a whole? Only 4 human males, 4 females, more if you count Warioware characters, & just like Link, Mario gets 2 girls: Pauline, & Peach, while Luigi gets Daisy, & Rosalina.
