Yeah, looking back now at Blue Gender I don't think I ever need/want to see it again. It was kinda a drag to watch after a while. Still I have better memories from that then Gaseraki.

^No really, even for slice of life, it was agonizingly boring. I've seen some SoL anime that actually have at least some kind of story, maybe even some sort of conflict, because you know, that's very much a part of life? Even as just a feel-good timewaster about some people living out there lives, I've seen better. Like Aria for example. It was simple and mundane and almost nothing actually happens, but it has a bunch of interesting characters doing an uncommon job that lets them meet new people on a terraformed Mars. That's much more than what K-On had going for it, IMO...
I can agree with @CanisWolfred on SoL, but sometimes having a show without conflict can be soothing for a stressed mind. That's why I liked Aria as well. The only thing I resent is now there are a billion "cake and tea time" shows available. And they're not bad, I watch one now and then. Maybe they're just more my cup of tea though
Also if you liked Beck and Kids on the Slope @Shadowfox254 have you seen Nodame Cantabile?
always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)
I watched K-on for humor and music and got it and liked it, but I'm not an idiot so I didn't spend time going beyond season 1 when I could be doing anything else. Same reason I don't go to McDonalds often.
I actually couldn't even get through the first season. I tried to remind myself that it's just a timewaster, there's not supposed to be things like plot and whatnot, but after a while I came to the conclusion that I'd be better off watching paint dry. I've done that before. I know what its like. I can assure you its a much more rewarding feeling.
Tenchi Muyo! and Clannad are my standards for how to do harems (and anime in general) ... so yeah, most of the genre ends up quite terrible for me. The more enjoyable ones for me tend to be either reverse or yaoi/yuri harems but they're not without their cliches either though the central protagonists usually are far more interesting and likable.
I don't hate them but Haruhi and K-On! definitely make my list of most disappointing anime. By the time I watched Haruhi, I had already seen Excel Saga which did the genre hopping thing far better and more interestingly. I can understand the appeal of the characters but the show (and manga) is just so boring. K-On! has great music... too bad the girls barely play it! What kind of music show hardly showcases it's music?! Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha was also really disappointing because I loved the concept but the anime was so bleh.
As for anime I actually hated: Kannazuki no Miko and Papa to Kiss in the Dark particularly stand out as offensively bad.
Current Playlist: Age of Calamity, Stardew Valley, ACNH
@Jollykarp: Yes, but only the first 3 episodes. It's about a girl name Megumi Noda who can play the piano just by listening to it rather than reading a music sheet and Shinichi Chiaki who's a musical genius and Noda's tutor IIRC?
I haven't actually seen it myself ^^; I just hear it does for classical music what Beck did for 90's rock and what Kids on the Slope did for jazz. I should really get around to it one day
I think I'm the same as PrincessSugoi with Haruhi - I watched it a few years after it came out and couldn't find anything special or interesting about it. Also "the main character is a sociopath" is one of my least favourite tropes, so that didn't help either

Worst I've ever seen. Probs Blade and Soul. Well I actually stopped 5 minutes in. Don't know nothing about the story doh, but the look of it was pretty cringy imo. 2 stars.

Oh man, you should have at least finished the episode. So much hilariously bad moments in the final few minutes.
I dropped it after a single episode, but golly, what an episode.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.
I couldn't imagine stopping any show after even one episode. I'd give it at least 3 or so before I drop one. 5 mins is nothing for an anime to make a judgment on. If I did that I might have never started watching anime to begin with.

the only anime I dropped after 5 minutes was the Rock Lee anime and though it was pretty bad I actually dropped it because I didn't watch too far into Naruto(and didn't watch Shippuden) so I wouldn't understand much if I kept watching

I usually give anime a few episodes, but when the first episode has poor production quality, terrible writing, and no intrigue, I don't need a second episode to know it's not going to get any better.
Sometimes I wish bad anime would reveal itself to be bad earlier on though. This season, Black Bullet drew me in with three interesting episodes, and then torpedoed itself into hilarity with the fourth. An episode so indescribably bad that it made me instantly regret watching the first three at all.

Black Bullet is a good anime. Stories behind the infection and the little girls is quite facinating, especially since Black Bullet is a small anime with two intruiging stories that mix well together. Though, I expected him to turn when he injected the crap out of himself. That "small chance and get away with it" deal is kinda bull.
