Topic: Why hasn’t there been a Castlevania Anniversary Collection Volume 2?

I’m curious why they didn’t do a volume 2 for Castlevania Anniversary Collection. The first collection ends right before Symphony of the Night was released. It would be great if we get a second collection with SOTN, the rare Castlevania Legends for Game Boy, the GBA trilogy, the N64 titles and maybe even the DS trilogy. Is there still a strong likelihood of a second collection?

If we get a second Anniversary Collection I don't know about the likelihood of SotN or Rondo of Blood appearing on it considering the last time they showed up together was the Requiem collection, which used versions of the game that were directly funded by Sony and were given completely redone English translations and scripts. If they do come, they'll probably have to be in the form of the original vanilla versions of those games due to Sony having some ownership over the retranslated version of SotN and the English translation in general for Rondo of Blood.

What cracks me up is how people are mad at Konami for supposedly abandoning the video game market, I am wondering if those people even have looked into Konami's history if they did they probably would understand.

Konami is a entertainment company so pachinko machines are part of their business. In fact Konami original was a Jukebox company so but then saw the market for arcade games in the 80s and the rest is history. Now they just feel that pachinko machines are more profitable.

I guess the point I am trying to make is Konami isn't a software company like Microsoft for example of even a gaming studio like Activision/Blizzard they make machines for entertainment. So to be upset that they don't make video games anymore is kinda silly when it wasn't even their main thing so to speak.

@Tasuki Konami may not be strictly a games company, but considering how Japan-centric most of their services are, the console games were basically all that we had, and it really sucks that Konami just doesn't really care to at least satiate that very vocal demand even if it isn't in their home country. I'd be totally fine with pachinko stuff, hell even Capcom got on that bandwagon as well, but the problem starts when they're taking all this cool stuff like MGS3's cutscenes being remade from the ground up, and using it STRICTLY for their gambling machines. I'd be totally fine with them continuing to pursue business ventures like that, but as long as it substitutes games that actually make me feel like they give a crap about franchises that I and a lot of other people care about.

To go from MGSV, to Metal Gear Survive and MGS3 Pachislot was probably the most anticlimactic way I've seen a company spit on an IP's legacy

@TheFrenchiestFry But where is it said that an IP is strictly bound to the type of media it started on?

Look at DC IPs for example they have been radio shows, comics, movies, tv shows, video games board games, action figures and a whole lot of stuff that will take me forever to name.

I'd be fine with them not making games if they didn't still have a stranglehold on some of the most beloved and fondly remembered gaming IPs.

It was such a crock when we didn't get that Rondo/Symphony collection from a while back. I see no logical reason why it skipped switch. As for the remaining games The best of them are mostly handhelds and those just don't look right blown up on a big TV. Especially the DS games. I like Castlevania 64, well Legacy of darkness which is what the first one should have been and the PS2 games are just okay ish.

Pretty sure nearly everyone hates the lords of shadow series so i doubt anyone wants those. After all doesn't everyone like to say they're god of war clones? I actually didn't mind them myself.

@Zeldafan79 It skipped Switch because Sony funded it. Though it sucks, can't get more logical than that.

I do think we will eventually see a second collection though, after Konami finishes Konamiing around for a little bit. Doubt it will have Rondo & Symphony, but one can dream. More likely it would be a collection of the handheld games, which is still nice as I've never played those.

@Zeldafan79 It skipped Switch because Sony literally codeveloped it with Konami. The ports in that collection are based on the retooled translations for Rondo and Symphony that were originally found in The Dracula X Chronicles on PSP, and the games were also enhanced to take specific advantage of the DualShock 4's built in speaker for emitting sound effects like when levelling up in SotN or performing item crashes in Rondo of Blood

I was not aware of this. Still though aside from the VC release Rondo has never been ported to a Nintendo system and Neither has symphony. Kinda sad considering Castlevania first became popular on the NES. It's even sadder that Konami apparently has no further interest in the series.
