Why do people point to their wrists when asking for the time, but don't point to their crotch when they ask where the bathroom is?

Best show in the world. Great website, I'd been visiting it for ages until I downloaded all the episodes

Cool, gotta check out that site some more sometime, the Simpsons are great. I think Futurama is still way more funny though.

I do. The earlier series' I'm not as big a fan of but there's still some classic lines.
Homer: No beer and no TV make Homer something, something...
Marge: Go crazy?
Homer: DON'T MIND IF I DO!

Futurama is a more entertaining concept than the Simpsons and very fun to stare at, but compared to the Simpsons the actual belly laughs just don't come often enough. Which is why it was canceled, and is why it will be canceled again. The movies didn't make me laugh once, but I still had fun watching them, and I still love the show.

I've long since "outgrown" The Simpsons. Family guy is where it's at for me.

I'll never outgrow the show. Too many fond memories of watching it as a little tyke.
Regarding Family Guy, I have to say I much prefer American Dad. That's just me, though.

If you'll outgrow anything it will be Family Guy once you hit a certain age, then you'll learn to appreciate the smart humor the Simpsons brings to the table. I remember when I was about 13 though and I thought Family Guy was the funniest thing. Funny how things change seemingly over night.

I love Futurama. Not only does it feed my inner sci-fi geek, it also has some pretty deep stuff going on at times. I seriously cannot watch 'Jurassic Bark' because it always makes me cry, even after Bender's Big Score explained what really happened with Fry's dog. There's also the episode with Fry and the worms that make him smart, and the one with the seven-leaf clover, and a few other episodes that i'm probably forgetting off the top of my head -- they're all funny, but they have a solemn quality as well that no Simpsons episode will ever be able to match.

That said, you're right, the movies weren't that great. Bender's Big Score had me loling pretty hard, but the rest were kinda 'eh'. i'm hoping once the writers get back into the swing of things they'll get back into the groove they had before. :3

I did shed a few tears for Fry's dog, and every time Fry And Leela have a touching moment I get a big smile on my face. The Simpsons, however, have had several more solemn moments, some of them better than Futurama. The episode that explains Maggy's birth, for example, where at the end Homer goes back to work at the plant to make money to support his new daughter and covers up the sign in his office to make it spell "Do it for her." I was smiling so big my eyes were watering and it gets me every time. There's at least a hundred episodes like that, and that's not an exaggeration. It's easier to relate to Futurama when you're still a slobby teenager living the party life, which I totally am. Fry has some brilliant moments. But when you start a family and live the real life with them, the Simspsons delivers where no other can. Certainly no cartoon comedy, and rarely any television sitcoms that aren't on Nick @ Night. God I love Nick @ Night.

I think Bender's Big Score is the only one I haven't seen. I just watched Wild Green Yonder and Bender's Game. I liked the references that I could understand in Bender's Game - but again, I hardly laughed. I think I'll Netflix Bender's Big Score if it's really that funny. I would have eventually, anyways Isn't there another one?

@Spaceboy: that was a great episode. earlier seasons of The Simpsons had moments like those, but in these latter seasons they've really been few and far between (provided they've been present at all). and indeed, much love for Nick @ Nite as well. I'm kinda sad that shows i grew up with are on there now, but then again it's great to see them on TV again. Sitcoms nowadays just ain't what they used to be. :/

Also, the one you're missing is Beast with a Billion Backs. It was all right. :3

There's an explanation to that episode? You mean it has a happier ending?! I need to see that Bender's Big Score then, 'cause the first time I saw that episode I was down for like a week. And every time I catch a glimpse of it (doesn't have to be the end, just enough for me to remember how that episode ended), my whole day gets ruined.
I need closure to that episode.

I have a Backloggery now! Nothin' fancy, but feel free to add me as a friend.

Family Guy is the only show I've ever 180-ed on. It's almost impossible to have on now...South Park is really in the same boat though. It's just not good, on any level--amusing when I was in 6th grade due to cussing...but it's just genuinely not funny in any context. Futurama, however, has always been great. I'd be less jaded against The Simpsons if it hadn't slowly devolved into whatever it is now. Some of that Season 5-7 stuff is absolute gold though. The "Uncle Moe's Family Feedbag" commercial will forever remain a legendary television moment.

sigh Yeah, true. This season has seen a couple of episodes like that though, especially where Bart adopts a brother. I think they're returning to form. THAT'S the one I'll get that one, too. Futurama does look stunning on Blu Ray. So does the Simpsons but only the movie and latter half of season 20 are out on the format so far. I don't think it's sad at all I love Roseane, Home Improvement, Fresh Prince... Do they have Full House? I forget. I love Full House, even though it's really cheesy lol. It made me really happy growing up. I wanted to be in their family so bad.

I could easily ramble on and on about my love of The Simpsons, but i'll try and keep it short. Been watching since the Tracey Ullman Show shorts! Throughout college, my friends and i could go through an entire, substantive conversation using nothing but Simpsons quotes. When i was studying for the New York State Bar Exam (for our non-US friends, ther Bar Exam is a 2-day "licensing exam" for attorneys in the US), i kept telling myself "If i can remember pretty much every line from 15 years of Simpsons episodes, i surely can retain enough knowledge to pass this thing!" Even though the show doesn't have the same magic it once did, it's still an excellent show.

And Futurama -- man, i REALLY love that show, especially being a bit of a math and science geek (or at least i was when i was younger). The endings of "Jurassic Bark" and "Luck of the Fryish" well me up every time. The show came at a perfect time, as i am/was the same age as Fry (25 in 2000). Really looking forward to the new episodes.

I do enjoy Family Guy a lot too, though more so in prior seasons. I'm tired of MacFarlane's standing on a soapbox and throwing in his unfunny political comments through Brian. If it's funny, go for it, but lots of times it's just MacFarlane trying to "stick it" to whomever he disagrees with (republicans, christians, etc) with little humor. I'm also one of the rare few who liked the whole "live action Conway Twitty sings a whole song while our audience gets pissed" bit -- i enjoy that sort of "humor", that Andy Kaufman-esque style of provoking your audience. American Dad i've been enjoying a lot more over the past couple seasons; the writing is often a lot smarter than you'd expect.

And i will dearly miss King of the Hill. An absolutely excellent and underappreciated show.

I second much of what TBD said. Futurama has an intelligence, ability to cater to nerd obscurities, and even occasional emotional depth unmatched by all the other comical cartoon shows.
