Never. Add voice acting for the rest of the characters, keep Link silent.
I see no reason Zelda and Ganon can't talk either, they've always had dialogue in the games, so it's not like it would feel unatural for them, the way it would with Link. It's not like we're still in an era of bad voices in games, they just need to hire people with talent.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
I don't see what's wrong with having a text based adventure game either. There's so few of them these days so it's a nice touch IMO. Just because most companies do voice acting in their games doesn't mean everyone should do it.
Looking forward to: No More Heroes: Travis Strikes Again
No way that would ruin the experience of me in my green tights as i play the game with my Master Sword replica. I do the voice acting myself just fine thank you.
Sure, its supposed you being Link and his thoughts are actually your own thoughts. If thats the case then just make him a Mii going on an adventure instead. You don't see any other media doing the same with their own mute characters so that the audience can project their own thoughts into the character so why does videogames get a free pass on this?
Maybe I'm not watching the right movies, but I've never actually controlled the main character of a movie.
Videogames get a "pass" on this, because it can be used artistically in a videogame. Movie directors have yet to figure out how to create the same effect in a movie for obvious reasons. Films are meant to be something you watch. The story unfolds with zero input from the audience and at the end, you're to take something from it. A videogame is not watched, but played, with the "audience" becoming the protagonist, instead of observing him. Hence the "pass."

No. Not unless Zelda authorizes use of his voice. He can put in a request for use of Bombchus while he's at it. Until then, both are strictly verboten! @Cheetahman91 Thank you for posting that! I was going to put up something like that but you beat me to it, LOL! Any gamer that lived through the year 1990 will probably always have that line as their enduring memory of Link with a voice! @MechaPhoenix Love the first line of your signature, ROTFLMAO! @JayArr No, you're thinking of Tingle.

Never. Link talking would really ruin the series for me. There's a saying, something like 'it's better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and confirm it'... i'd rather people laugh at the Zelda series for being backwards and not modern by still featuring a silent protagonist than them try to cement a voice and (major) personality to Link and fail miserably.
If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.
